Unicorns, Astronauts, and Oscars Gold

The unicorn is a legendary animal that has been described since antiquity as a beast with a large, pointed, spiraling horn projecting from its forehead. The unicorn was depicted in ancient seals of the Indus Valley Civilization and was mentioned by the ancient Greeks in accounts of natural history by various writers, including Ctesias, Strabo, Pliny the Younger, and Aeolian.
An escaped "unicorn" gave authorities a run for their money on Wednesday [February 24, 2016]. Sandra Boos [a photographer doing a photo shoot] -- and the California Highway Patrol -- spent more than three hours chasing her runaway pony, who was outfitted with a unicorn horn, through orchards and roads in California. Source.
Golden coins known as the unicorn and half-unicorn, both with a unicorn on the obverse, were used in Scotland in the 15th and 16th century. The unicorn was a gold coin that formed part of Scottish coinage between 1484 and 1525. The obverse of the coin shows a crowned unicorn. The significance is that the unicorn is one of the heraldic symbols of Scotland, occurring most notably in the royal coat of arms of Scotland as crowned and chained supporters.
The [Unicorn] tapestries show pagan and Christian symbolism. The pagan themes emphasize the medieval lore of beguiled lovers, whereas Christian writings interpret the unicorn and its death as the Passion of Christ. The unicorn has long been identified as a symbol of Christ by Christian writers, allowing the traditionally pagan symbolism of the unicorn to become acceptable within religious doctrine. The original pagan myths about The Hunt of the Unicorn refer to an animal with a single horn that can only be tamed by a virgin; Christian scholars translated this into an allegory for Christ's relationship with the Virgin Mary. When a Unicorn is portrayed along with a lion it Symbolizes the Union of the feminine (white, lunar) and masculine (Gold, solar) aspects of our dual nature. This Symbolism also represents the Alchemical Marriage. Source.

"God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn."--Numbers 24:8

Looking to Christopher Knowles' Secret Sun, there's this:
The Egyptians not only adopted the custom of burying the dead from the Sumerians they also adopted the reverence for gold, calling it "the flesh of the gods." Some believe it was associated with immortality in the ancient world since it doesn't rust or corrode (which explains an association or symbolism, but nothing more) Gold's chemical symbol Au, comes from the Latin Aurum, meaning "Shining Dawn."
As in Aurora.
Immortality. As in Jesus Christ?

Readers of this blog are well aware of my past writings about "Aurora" and "Red Dawns."

We have two immediately forthcoming events to watch.

First up, on Sunday, February 28, 2016, The 88th Academy Awards. The "theme" of the Oscars this year, in the wake of criticisms that not enough AfricanAmericans were nominated, is "We All Dream In Gold."

Gold on black looks regal. And the faces that are now on these ads are 35% AfricanAmericans, even though the Oscars will probably NOT be won by any Africans and AfricanAmericans.

One of the movies nominated for the Best Picture is The Martian.

Should we look to space too?

Next up is SuperTuesday, March 1, 2016. Will the primary install "Mars Red" as the new "Red Dawn" for the Republican Party?

Will Mars, the Red Planet, be on the minds of the media?

Outer space is going to be discussed in the midst of the wall-to-wall coverage of politics on the 1st, probably, because of one event.

March 1st is the date that NASA American astronaut Scott Kelly and Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko return to Earth from the International Space Station. Kelly is the first American to spend a year in space.

Scott and Mark Kelly

Why all the attention to Scott Kelly? He is pivotal to two longterm studies. One is of him and his twin, Mark Kelly, a retired NASA astronaut. Scott and Mark Kelly were born February 21, 1964.

February 21st is Ferālia, an ancient Roman public festival celebrating the Manes (Roman spirits of the dead, particularly the souls of deceased individuals). It fell on February 21 as recorded by Ovid in Book II of his Fasti. This day marked the end of Parentalia, a nine-day festival (February 13-21) honoring the dead ancestors.

A tradition associated with Ferālia (and thus February 21) is that one of the informed nymphs, Lara, could not hold her tongue and warned Juturna to flee. In addition, she approached Jupiter's wife Juno, saying, "Your husband loves the Naiad Juturna.” As a result, Jupiter rips out Lara's tongue in anger and summons Mercury to escort her to be a nymph in the Underworld. During this mission, Mercury becomes lustful of Lara and rapes her, begetting twins. These twins become the Lares, the guardians of intersections who watch over the city of Rome. Considering this is the birthday of the Kelly twins, it is an intriguing coincidence.

Mark Kelly is the husband of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was the victim of a Tucson, Arizona, assassination attempt on January 8, 2011 (where six people were killed), by Jared Lee Loughner. Before the shooting, Loughner expressed "anti-government" beliefs, such as the notion that the government was creating "infinite currency" without the backing of gold, and the assertion that NASA was faking spaceflights. conspiracy theories had a profound effect on Loughner, particularly the online film Zeitgeist: The Movie, with which friends claimed Loughner held an obsession. He was a member of the message board Above Top Secret, which discusses conspiracy theories; members of the site did not respond warmly to his posts. Loughner espoused conspiracy theories about the 9/11 attacks, the New World Order, and beliefs in a 2012 apocalypse, among other controversial viewpoints.

The second study with which Scott Kelly is involved: The Mission to Mars.
This mission — which began with a launch last March — is all about Mars.
"I think we'll learn a lot about longer-duration spaceflight and how that will take us to Mars someday," Kelly said Thursday [February 25, 2016] in his final news conference from orbit. "So I'd like to think that this is another of many steppingstones to us landing on Mars sometime in our future."
* * *
Mars expeditions planned for the 2030s will last 2½ years; the anticipated crew size will be four to six. The astronauts will almost certainly have to grow some of their own food; that's the reason for an experimental greenhouse aboard the space station.

Dark Knight's Sikh Link

by Loren Coleman ©2012
Did you know there are sync-links to Sikhs in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises?
One of the major locations in The Dark Knight Rises, please recall, was the prison fort where three of the characters in the story were held: Mehrangarh Fort. The fort appears to have direct links to the Sikhs. The fort is one of the largest in the world.

The fort has seven gates, which include Jayapol (meaning "victory"), built by Maharaja Man Singh to commemorate his victories over Jaipur and Bikaner armies. Fattehpol (also meaning "victory") gate was built by Maharaja Ajit Singh to mark the defeat of the Mughals. The palm imprints upon these still attract much attention even today.

Singh from Sanskrit sinha for lion, is an essential component of the name for a Sikh male. Every Sikh male name must end with "Singh." Historically, this was so ordained by Guru Gobind Singh on the Baisakhi day, 30 March 1699, when he inaugurated the Khalsa, introducing a new form of initiatory rites, khande di pahul.

Mehrangarh Fort, is located in Jodhpur city in Rajasthan state, and is one of the largest forts in India. It is literally, the Fort of the Sun, Mehrangarh [etymology: Mihir (Sanskrit) -sun or Sun-deity; garh (Sanskrit)-fort; i.e."Sun-fort"]. According to Rajasthani language pronunciation conventions, "Mihirgarh" has changed to "Mehrangarh." The Sun-deity has been the chief deity of the Rathore dynasty. Some very odd stories are associated with the fort at this Dark Knight filming location.

The foundation of the fort was laid on 12 May 1459 by Rao Jodha (1438–1488) on a rocky hill 5.6 miles (9 km) to the south of Mandore. This hill was known as Bhaurcheeria, the mountain of birds.

According to legend, to build the fort Jodha had to displace the hill's sole human occupant, a hermit called Cheeria Nathji, the lord of birds. Upset at being forced to move Cheeria Nathji cursed Rao Jodha with "Jodha! May your citadel ever suffer a scarcity of water!"

Despite building a house and a temple in the fort very near the cave the hermit had used, even today the area is plagued by a drought every 3 to 4 years. Jodha then took an extreme measure to insure that the new site had a chance of success; he buried a man named Raja Ram Meghwal alive in the foundations. Raja Ram Meghwal was promised that in return his family would be looked after by the Rathores.

To this day his descendants still live in Raj Bagh, in Raja Ram Meghwal's Garden, an estate bequeathed them by Jodha.

A human stampede occurred on 30 September 2008, at the Chamunda Devi temple inside of the Mehrangarh Fort, in which 249 people were killed and more than 400 injured.

Filming of the last installment of the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, began on May 6, 2011, at Mehrangarh Fort.

According to IMDb, here are the Sikh personnel working on The Dark Knight Rises, for the Second Unit, India ~
Krishan Pratap Singh, assistant director: India (who is also involved with Zero Dark Thirty, to be released on 19 December 2012, USA, about Navy SEAL Team 6 tracking down wanted terrorist Osama bin Laden),
Vans Pradeep Singh Rathore, location manager: India,
Chandradeep Singh Rathore, director's assistant: India, and
Dileep Singh Rathore, line producer: India.
For more on the August 5, 2012, Oak Creek, Wisconsin shooting at a Sikh Temple, which left seven dead, please see here.

In the first film of the Dark Knight trilogy, in Batman Begins, there is a scene with Katie Holmes in the foreground, in which a random Sikh shows up in the background. This has been the source of some comment by Sikhs, before today. See here.

Other synchromystic threads sent in by Andrew Griffin and Darren Brizdaz:

On this day in history - August 5, 1969, the U.S. space probe Mariner 7 flew by Mars, the Red Planet, sending back photographs and scientific data.

Dr. Amitabh Ghosh (not a Sikh) of NASA-AFP is the Indian who selected the Mars landing site of Curiosity, which will set down after midnight on August 6th.

Mention is to be made of the "woman in red" who crashed the marching of the Indian delegation during the London Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Loughner & Mars

The news is filled with the Red Planet landing, and with killer Jared Loughner. They would seem to be two separate threads that have little to do with each other. But we have to remind ourselves that they naturally overlap. The Mars lander, Curiosity, touches down early on the morning of August 6. The next day, Loughner allegedly is due to plea guilty to the murder of bystanders during his attempted assassination of a Member of Congress, who happened to be married to an astronaut.

Back in January 2011, I posted some thoughts, after the assassination attempt on January 8, 2011, of Representative Gabrielle Giffords. The story had many angles, and these were three of them:

"Mind Control" Mass Shooter: Jared Loughner

Loughner: A Copycat?

The Loughner Space Coincidences

Under the "Space Coincidence" postings, I detailed these groupings:
1) NASA Obsession
2) Giffords' NASA Astronaut Husband
3) Giffords' Husband's Astronaut Twin
4) "Erad"
5) The Very Strange Name Game Coincidence of the Two Dr. David Bowmans

Dr. David Bowman of 2001 and 2010.

Please click here to learn more about those "coincidences."

"What is government if words have no meaning?"
Jared Lee Loughner asked
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., in 2007.

So what is the meaning of Loughner? It appears to be a Americanized version of the German name Lachner, which is an occupational name for a physician, Middle High German lachenære "healer" (as in Leach), which issues from the "topographic name for someone who lived by a pond or lake, from Middle High German lache." The leeches found in aquatic locales, of course, are associated with and employed in the medieval medical practice of "bleeding," often by applying leeches to the sick person (source: Dictionary of American Family Names, Oxford University Press). "Lough" is the Irish word for "loch" or "lake," so the origins of the name is decidedly watery in nature.

Was Loughner, literally, engaging in a "bleeding"?

At top: Jared Loughner, with UFO imagery,
created by Red Pill Junkie, a Fortean blogger.

One last "coincidence," sent in by aferrismoon: "If you go to the map of the Safeway on N. Oracle Road [site of Loughner's assassination attempt] you will find there is a road crossing called W. GIACONDA, which also skirts the shopping complex. This is odd as you posted about Mona Lisa [a/k/a La Giaconda], the post after your first Loughner posting."

Martian Author Dies During Venus Transit

Ray Bradbury — author of The Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and other science fiction and literary classics — died Tuesday evening, June 5, 2012, in Los Angeles, at the age of 91, according to his daughter. He was born in Waukegan, Illinois, on August 22, 1920, the son of a utility lineman. He was the third son and he was given his middle name, Douglas, after the famous actor Douglas Fairbanks.

As a child he soaked up the ambiance of small-town life — wraparound porches, fireflies and the soft, golden light of late afternoon — that would later become a hallmark of much of his fiction, noted the Chicago Tribune upon his death.

“When I was born in 1920,” he told the New York Times Magazine in 2000, “the auto was only 20 years old. Radio didn't exist. TV didn't exist. I was born at just the right time to write about all of these things.”

The Transit of Venus lasted from the evening of June 5th (in North America) to the morning of June 6th (in Europe). Ray Bradbury's death may be the one most remembered and recalled when the question arises, "Who passed away during the Transit of Venus in 2012?"

Venus Transits Sol & Introduces Prometheus

A drawing of the 1631 eruption of Mt. Vesuvius
by Glovan Batista Passaro.

The December 7, 1631 Transit of Venus was followed on December 16th by a violent, unexpected eruption of Mt. Vesuvius beginning around 6:00 am. Vesivius have been inactive for a great deal of time, probably since 1139. During the night of December 16-17, earthquakes occurred every 1-15 minutes. At about 11:00 am on the 17th, a large mass of ash, gas, and stones flowed down all sides of Vesuvius, causing the liquefaction of the mountain. Ten minutes later, a tsunami up to 6 to 15 feet of height hit the coast. By 6:00 pm on December 17th, the decline of activity began, lasting several days. The death toll was variously reported to be 3000 to 6000 deceased individuals in Pompeii and other locations.

A Transit of Venus across the Sun takes place when the planet Venus passes directly between the Sun and Earth, obscuring a small portion of the solar disk. During a transit, Venus can be seen from Earth as a small black disk moving across the face of the Sun. The duration of such transits is usually measured in hours (the transit of 2004 lasted six hours).
Crabtree watching the Transit of Venus A.D. 1639
by Ford Madox Brown, a mural at Manchester Town Hall

The first known observation of a transit of Venus was made by Jeremiah Horrocks from his home at Carr House in Much Hoole, near Preston in England, on December 4, 1639 (November 24th under the Julian calendar then in use in England). His friend, William Crabtree, also observed this transit from Broughton, near Manchester. Horrocks and Crabtree were founding members of "Nos Keplari." Horrocks died mysteriously two years later, at the age of 22.

Charles Mason (1730-1786), astronomer, and Jeremiah Dixon, (1733-1779), surveyor and astronomer, are best known for giving their name to the Mason-Dixon line in the United States of America. But their biographies are interwoven with their viewing of two Transits of Venus in 1761 and 1769.
In 1760 the Royal Society chose Charles Mason to go to Sumatra to observe the 1761 transit of Venus, and, probably on Bird's recommendation, Mason suggested Dixon should go as his assistant. An encounter with a French frigate delayed their final sailing so that they could not reach Sumatra in time. They therefore landed at the Cape of Good Hope, where the transit was successfully observed on 6 June 1761….
Mason and Dixon eventually reached England early in 1762. In August 1763 Mason and Dixon signed an agreement with Thomas Penn and Frederick Calvert, seventh Baron Baltimore [qq.v.], hereditary proprietors of the provinces of Pennsylvania and Maryland, to go to North America to help local surveyors define the disputed boundary between the two provinces. Arriving in Philadelphia with their instruments in November, they began operations before Christmas 1763. When work for the proprietors on what was to become the famous Mason-Dixon line was complete late in 1766, they began on the Royal Society's behalf, at Dixon's suggestion, to measure a degree of the meridian on the Delmarva peninsula in Maryland and to make gravity measurements with a clock sent out by the Society, the same one that Maskelyne had had in St Helena and Dixon took to the Cape in 1761. They reported their task complete on 21 June 1768 and sailed for England on 11 September. Before leaving, they were both admitted as corresponding members of the American Society held in Philadelphia for Promoting Useful Knowledge.
In 1769 Dixon sailed to Norway with William Bayly in the Emerald to make observations of the transit of Venus on 3 June on the Royal Society's behalf. Dixon observed on Hammerfest Island, Bayly at North Cape, about sixty miles apart in case of cloudy weather. They reached England again on 30 July. Dixon returned to Durham, resuming his work as a surveyor. Among places he surveyed at this time were the park of Auckland Castle and Lanchester Common. He died [at age 55] unmarried in Cockfield, county Durham, 22 January 1779.

Mason was employed by the Royal Society during six months in 1769 on an astronomical mission at Cavan in Ireland. He observed the second transit of Venus on 3 June, partial solar eclipse of 4 June, the phenomona of Jupiter's satellites, and in August and September the famous comet which signalised the birth year of Napoleon Bonaparte....He returned to America, and died in Philadelphia in 1787. His journals were almost tossed, also found a certificate of admission into American Society of Philadelphia. Dixon was reportedly born in a coal mine, died [at 46] at Durham in 1777. ~ Oxford University Press Dictionary of National Biography

The above drawing was created, partially, in anticipation of the Transit of Venus of December 9, 1874. Bob Rickard, editor of Fortean Times, writes me: "This is an illustration from Harry Price's Poltergeist over England (1945) and is a satirical comment on the alleged teleportation of the medium Mrs. Guppy during a poltergeist haunting in London in 1871."

Transit of Venus, December 1882
Freemason John Philip Sousa's Transit of Venus was composed after the Transit of 1882 (pictured). See here for more synchromystic details related to Sousa.

After 1882, the next Transit of Venus was not until June 8, 2004. What notable events are associated with that Transit? Days before it occurred, on June 4th, Ronald Reagan, American actor, 40th President of the United States (b. 1911), and officially a Scottish Rite Mason, died. On June 8th, during the Transit, the 30th G8 summit took place on Sea Island, GeorgiaUSA.

One seemingly strange event was timed exactly for the 2004 Transit of Venus. The heart of the dauphin Louis-Charles, recognized by French royalists as Louis XVII of France, was entombed in the royal crypt of Saint-Denis Basilica outside Paris, 211 years after he perished in the French Revolution. DNA testing had verified the heart as belonging to the son of the guillotined King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette. No French government officials or members of reigning royal families attended the service.

The Year 2004 is perhaps most remembered for one of the worst natural disasters in recorded history, when the strongest earthquake in 40 years hit the entire Indian Ocean region. The massive 9.3 magnitude earthquake, epicentered just off the west coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra, generated enormous tsunami waves that crashed into the coastal areas of a number of nations including Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Malaysia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Indonesia. The official death toll in the affected countries is recorded as 186,983, while more than 40,000 people are listed as still missing.

Strange Eye looks at the 17 dates of the previous sixteen Transits, plus the 2012 Transit of Venus.

For 2012, this Transit will be visible in its entirety from Hawaii, Alaska, Australia, the Pacific and eastern Asia, with the beginning of the Transit visible from North America and the end visible from Europe.

Secret Sun had a few visual observations about the forthcoming Transit of Venus, posted a month before the event, here. Etemenanki has his too, and Andrew Griffin, as well.

The Transit of Venus will be seen in the USA on June 5, 2012, from about 8 PM EDT until sunset. It will continue be visible during sunrise in the UK on June 6th. The Queen's Diamond Jubilee is on June 2-5, 2012, in the United Kingdom, as noted in "Queen's Diamond Jubilee omens."

What will truly occur in 2012?

What you perceive as happening in the wake of this year's Transit of Venus may not be as euphonious as you have heard in various peace-filled and transformational predictions. Well-known astrologer and former psychotherapist Philip Levine of Sirius Astrological Services shared with me his balanced insights about the upcoming Transit of Venus:
It seems like no big deal that Venus is doing this. One hundred five years is a very short time in the life of planets. And this Sun-Venus conjunction is squared by Mars, so all the harmony and money and love and other Venusian things that one might expect have a fairly loud dissenting voice being thrown into the mix, because Mars squares are about hostility, conflict, aggression, and competition. Such a time would seem to be challenging in terms of finding the best mix of these opposing principles.
Venus, Mars, the Sun...thoughts of a human from a company named Sirius? I can't think of a better guide to a more reasonable way to think about this event.

But what will be the most immediate phantasmagoric space-related imagery that directly follows the 2012 Transit of Venus? Indeed, it may be the June 8th opening in the USA of Ridley Scott's Prometheus, which introduces its new mythos for our beginning, graphically.

Prometheus stole fire from Zeus and gave it to the mortals. What will this movie give to all of us? What will the Transit of Venus presage for tomorrow?

"I do not know how to find out anything new without being offensive. To the ignorant, all things are pure: all knowledge is, or implies, the degradation of something. One who learns of metabolism, looks at a Venus, and realises she's partly rotten. However, she smiles at him, and he renews his ignorance. All things in the sky are pure to those who have no telescopes. But spots on the sun, and lumps on the planets -- and, being a person of learning, or, rather, erudition, myself, I've got to besmirch something, or nobody will believe I am -- and I replace the pure, blue sky with the wormy heavens...."

Masons, Moon, Mars

July 20, 1969: The day that Freemasonry landed on the Moon.

Now, it is definitely onward to Mars.
