Did Stanley Kubrick (July 26, 1928 – March 7, 1999) make a Christmas film?

Students of Kubrick clearly agree that he did. The one movie generally considered to be his "Christmas masterpiece" is Eyes Wide Shut. 

Film critic Roger Ebert wrote on July 19, 1999, that the Eyes Wide Shut was shoot "in a grainy high-contrast style, using lots of back-lighting, underlighting and strong primary colors, setting the film at Christmas to take advantage of the holiday lights, he makes it all a little garish, like an urban sideshow."

On March 7, 1999, six days after screening a final cut of Eyes Wide Shut for his family and the stars, Kubrick died in his sleep at the age of 70, after suffering a massive heart attack.

If Eyes Wide Shut is about the Illuminati, it makes sense that Kubrick would utilize Christmas lights to "illuminate" his film.

Mainstream analysts have tried to wrestle with the Christmas setting of Eyes Wide Shut.

In addition to relocating the story from Vienna in the 1900s to New York City in the 1990s, Kubrick changed the time-frame of Schnitzler's story from Mardi Gras to Christmas. One critic believed Kubrick did this because of the rejuvenating symbolism of Christmas. Others have noted that Christmas lights allow Kubrick to employ some of his distinct methods of shooting including using source location lighting, as he did in Barry Lyndon. The New York Times noted that the film "gives an otherworldly radiance and personality to Christmas lights", and critic Randy Rasmussen noted that "colorful Christmas lights ... illuminate almost every location in the film." Harper's film critic, Lee Siegel, believes the film's recurring motif is the Christmas tree, because it symbolizes the way that "Compared with the everyday reality of sex and emotion, our fantasies of gratification are, yes, pompous and solemn in the extreme ... For desire is like Christmas: it always promises more than it delivers." Author Tim Kreider noted that the "Satanic" mansion-party at Somerton is the only set in the film without a Christmas tree, stating "Almost every set is suffused with the dreamlike, hazy glow of colored lights and tinsel ... Eyes Wide Shut, though it was released in summer, was the Christmas movie of 1999." Noting that Kubrick has shown viewers the dark side of Christmas consumerism, Louise Kaplan stated that the film illustrates ways that the "material reality of money" is shown replacing the spiritual values of Christmas, charity and compassion. While virtually every scene has a Christmas tree, there is "no Christmas music or cheery Christmas spirit." Critic Alonso Duralde, in his book Have Yourself a Movie Little Christmas, categorized the film as a "Christmas movie for grownups" (as he also did with Bergman's Fanny and Alexander and The Lion in Winter), arguing that "Christmas weaves its way through the film from start to finish". But, wait, there may be more...

In 2012, Tony Sokol ("Den of Geek) reviewed Kubrick's The Shining (1980), and began by frankly stating "Yes, it's a Christmas movie."

Sokol re-imagined The Shining as a Christmas parable. It makes sense in various examples he gave, such as, "The head cook at the hotel, Dick Hallorann, notices that Danny shines like the Star of Bethlehem."

And, "Dick Hallorran, representative of the Zoroastrian Magi, who became extinct after the rise of Christianity, sees the call of Danny’s shining star and cuts his holiday vacation short just in time to be dispatched by Jack, who hobbles off to spread his cheer with his son in the massive property’s hedge maze. The Scroogey father dawdles too long in the snow and becomes a Jack Frost lawn ornament."

Feeling a little poorly on Saturday evening, I went to bed and watched the movie, Passengers....One thing, though, that I did find interesting was the inclusion of The Shining’s Gold Room.
I supposed it was done on purpose, as an homage to Stanley Kubrick, a fact that was confirmed yesterday when I happened across a post on the subject at Twilight Language. The post also brings up the odd coincidence that Michael Sheen’s (Arthur, the android bartender on the Avalon) father earns a living as a looky-likey for Jack Nicholson.

The blog writer quoted me from a TL passage:

Via Twitter, I bemoaned to Alex Fulton at Crypto-Kubrology Twitter that "modern Cryptokubrology is frustrating when Shining scenes are in new films w/out sync-reasoning."
To which Fulton replied that "modern films w/ 237s inserted… hard not to assume the filmmakers just being clever. Pre-Shining 237s are where it gets weird."

You can see this post-Kubrick/Shining mentioning in Stand By Me, a 1986 film based on a Stephen King story, as was The Shining (1980).  In Stand By Me there is a scene when the boys' total change adds up to $2.37.

"Just call me Roob" mentions one older Christmas movie which includes a "237," namely The Shop Around the Corner (1940). ("Roob" made some other synchrocinematic connections, and you can read her stream of consciousness links here.)

Many of us have seen this Cryptokubrology sync to The Shining, coming before The Shining, previously.

I was reminded of The Shop Around the Corner on Christmas Eve 2017, when TCM broadcast In the Good Old Summertime, which, believe it or not, is a Christmas movie.

Definitely a Christmas movie.

The Shop Around the Corner is a 1940 American romantic comedy film produced and directed by Ernst Lubitsch and starring Margaret Sullavan, James Stewart and Frank Morgan. The screenplay was written by Samson Raphaelson based on the 1937 Hungarian play Parfumerie by Miklós László. Eschewing regional politics in the years leading up to World War II, the film is about two employees at a leathergoods shop in Budapest who can barely stand each other, not realizing they're falling in love as anonymous correspondents through their letters, as noted in Wikipedia.

Fans of Cryptokubrology realize what postal mailbox number is the focus of The Shop Around the Corner.  Of course, it is P. O. Box 237.

Now, as to the film that played on cable on December 24th...

In the Good Old Summertime is a 1949 Technicolor musical film directed by Robert Z. Leonard. It stars Judy Garland, Van Johnson and S.Z. Sakall. The film is a musical adaptation of the 1940 film, The Shop Around the Corner.

Veronica Fisher (Judy Garland) enters Oberkugen's music shop, looking for work. Although Otto Oberkugen (S. Z. Sakall) is reluctant to take on more staff, she wins a job by persuading a wealthy matron, through her singing and musical expertise, to buy a harp at almost $25 over Oberkugen's list price. Neither she nor Andrew Larkin (Van Johnson), the shop's senior salesman, suspects that they are each other's anonymous pen pal. They bicker constantly at work although becoming increasingly attracted to each other.

And what P.O. Box is mentioned in In the Good Old Summertime? Box 237!

Andrew Delby Larkin (Van Johnson): Oh, Veronica, I love you so! Won't you open box 237 and take me out of my envelope? 
Veronica Fisher (Judy Garland): Box 23- Box 237! You mean... You?

These two movies - The Shop Around the Corner and In the Good Old Summertime - have another sync that ties to Eyes Wide Shut. In Max Malone's analysis (noted above), Eyes Wide Shut is seen as having many ties to The Wizard of Oz and Through The Looking Glass. This is evidenced by the many mirrors and the Rainbow shop in Eyes Wide Shut.

Here's where it begins to get synchrocinematically intriguing.

Frank Morgan played Professor Marvel, The Wizard, Doorman, Cabbie and Guard in The Wizard of Oz (1940), and then showed up as Mr. Hugo Matuschek in The Shop Around the Corner (1949).

Judy Garland played Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz (1939) and then as Veronica Fisher ten years later in In the Good Old Summertime (1949).

Are we over the rainbow?

So what is the Rainbow? And how does it relate to The Shining? For one the Rainbow's proprietor Milich resembles Jack Nicholson, with a similar hairline and expressive acting style. He’s even wearing a bathrobe and plaid flannel shirt. Perhaps Milich is an analog to Jack after 20 years or so as entertainment director of the Overlook Hotel. Like the Overlook, the Rainbow teleports in and out of reality, seems to grow in size once entered, and offers impossible vistas. The Rainbow is also a site of sexual depravity, with Milich’s daughter being the pedophiles’ target much like Danny. The Rainbow, like a hotel, is also a rental business. For a price, one can temporarily access realities greater than afforded one’s basic financial situation. For Cruise, the Rainbow’s costume rental allows him, if only for a moment, into the secret lair of the elite, just like Jack’s five-month tenure at the Overlook allows him to act like king of the mountain in a grand, fantastical palace. At the end of the night, Milich absolves Cruise of his debt by tearing up his receipt, but what has been seen cannot be unseen, as his missing mask will surely remind him when uncovered. Source.

Another Suicide After Sexual Misconduct Allegation

On Wednesday, December 20, 2017, a religious figure died by suicide by jumping from the Aura building in Chicago, after sexual misconduct allegations surfaced. 

This follows in the wake of Kentucky state legislator Dan Johnson dying by suicide, on December 13, 2017, after he shot himself on a bridge in Mount Washington, southeast of Louisville, Kentucky. Johnson was an American evangelical pastor and Republican member of the Kentucky House of Representatives, who was accused of having molested a member of his church in 2012, when she was 17 years old.

On Wednesday morning, Father James Csaszar jumped from the heights of the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, a sleek ultramodern skyscraper reaching 82-stories into the downtown skyline. The location is just north of Millennium Park.

Csaszar Name Meaning. Hungarian (Császár): from császár "emperor," probably a nickname given to a self-important person or a status name for a servant of the emperor. Old Hungarian names meaning "king," "prince," "noble," "magistrate," etc. were given to serfs, not to nobles or dignitaries.

The Aqua was designed by Studio Gang Architects, led by firm principal and founder, Jeanne Gang, and it was the firm's first skyscraper project. The project was the largest ever awarded to an American firm headed by a woman.

To capture views of nearby landmarks for Aqua's residents, Gang stretched its balconies outward by as much as 12 ft. The result is a building composed of irregularly shaped concrete floor slabs which lend the facade an undulating, sculptural quality. Gang cites the striated limestone outcroppings that are a common topographic feature of the Great Lakes region as inspiration for these slabs.

The Aqua is an architectural wonder, and one of the classic buildings produced by InFocusTech (link here); pictured above. 

The Aqua opened in 2009, and is 819 feet tall with 81 or 82 floors, depending on various sources. The building may be developing as a suicide magnet. Early Monday, August 4, 2014, Zachary Lammers, 27, fell from the 56th floor of the building, at 221 N. Columbus Dr., to the pool deck below.

(The Aqua building, an 18th story 556-unit twin-tower at 488 Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, California, has also a history of suicide. William Blair Lamothe, 49, of Long Beach jumped to his death from the 18th floor penthouse, while being given a tour, on Saturday, January 2, 2010.)

On December 21, 2017, the Cook County medical examiner's office announced Csaszar's death from the Aqua was a suicide.

According to the Chicago Tribune:

Three hundred miles away, the ugly news jolted suburban Columbus, Ohio. Until November, Csaszar had worked as a Catholic priest at the Church of the Resurrection in New Albany, Ohio. Then, after misconduct allegations surfaced about the priest, the 44-year-old was placed on administrative leave.
An investigation into Csaszar will continue despite his death, Ohio law enforcement said.

The Diocese's decided to suspend Csaszar due to "questionable text and telephone 

communications with a minor," the church stated in a news release. The Diocese went further to note the charges were also related to a "potential misuse of church funds" while Csaszar was serving at St. Rose of Lima Parish in New Lexington, Ohio, roughly 55 miles southeast of Columbus.

Columbus's 10TV reported New Lexington Police sent an email to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification with the subject line: "inappropriate relationship between Priest and 16yom." 

How widespread are suicides as a result of the waves of sexual assault and misconduct revelations sweeping the world? The two recent deaths in the USA may be the tip of the iceberg. Have others occurred? Certainly the UK is waking up to this connection.

Pre-Crime Arrest Prevents Christmas 2017 Terrorist Attack?

Is there a growing awareness that, around Christmas 2017, a major terrorist attack will occur?

We have been here before.

On 19 December 2016, a truck was deliberately driven into the Christmas market next to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church at Breitscheidplatz in Berlin, leaving 12 people dead and 56 others injured, a total of 68 people that were involved in this incident. One of the victims was the truck's original driver, Łukasz Urban, who was found shot dead in the passenger seat. The truck was eventually stopped by its automatic brakes. The perpetrator was Anis Amri, a Tunisian failed asylum seeker, urged by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. Four days after the attack, he was killed in a shootout with police near Milan in Italy. As we enter the weekend before Christmas 2017, the news is filled with two vaguely interrelated stories.

First, there appears to have been a pre-crime arrest.

And you thought Minority Report was merely a 2002 American neo-noir science fiction film directed by Steven Spielberg and loosely based on the 1956 short story of the same name by Philip K. Dick?

On Friday, December 22, 2017, former Marine Everitt Aaron Jameson, 26, of Modesto, California, was arrested and charged with one count of attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. The Northern California tow-truck driver is accused of planning an ISIS-inspired Christmas Day suicide attack on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco.

In an 11-page affidavit filed in federal court in Fresno Friday, FBI special agent Christopher McKinney alleged that Jameson espoused "radical jihadi beliefs" on social media. Jameson appears to have planned a bomb-and-gun attack on the San Francisco waterfront's Pier 39.

According to the agent, Jameson "liked" and "loved" ISIS-related social media posts, including one that threatened a Christmas attack in New York City.

Jameson also allegedly expressed support for Sayfullo Saipov, an Uzbek immigrant who drove a rented truck down a Lower Manhattan bike path on Halloween 2017, killing eight people and injuring 11 others.

Meanwhile, also occurring on December 22, 2017, a gunman attacked law enforcement officers in Pennsylvania's state capital. In Harrisburg, police killed the suspect in a series of three shootings that occurred throughout downtown Harrisburg and Allison Hill on Friday afternoon. Police identified the suspect late Friday as Ahmed Amin El-Mofty, 51, a man who has ties to the area. He reportedly recently traveled to the Mideast.

Around 4 p.m. on Friday, in the area of 3rd and State Streets, multiple shots were fired at an occupied Capitol Police car. The window of the car was broken, and the officer inside was not harmed. About twenty minutes later, El-Mofty opened fire on a Pennsylvania State Police vehicle. A female trooper was wounded, but is expected to recover.

Around 6 p.m. Friday evening, police found El-Mofty near 17th and Mulberry on Allison Hill. After an exchange of gunfire between the police and the suspect, the suspect was killed.

DuPont's Dynamite Train

There was an unfortunate Amtrak passenger train accident on Monday, December 18, 2017, when cars came off the tracks near DuPont, Washington. Three fatalities resulted, with over 100 injuries.

The straight facts, from Wikipedia, are these:

On December 18, 2017 [at 7:33 or 7:34 AM local time], Amtrak Cascades passenger train 501 derailed near DuPont, Washington, United States. It was the inaugural southbound revenue service run on the Point Defiance Bypass, a new passenger rail route south of Tacoma, Washington. The bypass was intended to reduce congestion and separate passenger and freight traffic, and was designed for faster speeds and shorter travel times (from Seattle to Portland about ten minutes less) than the previous route used by Cascades.
The lead locomotive and all twelve cars derailed while approaching a bridge over Interstate 5 (I-5). The trailing locomotive remained on the rails. A number of automobiles on southbound I-5 were crushed and at least three people on board the train died. The train derailed a short distance from where the new route merges with the previous route.

Returning to the hint of Mothman Math in this accident (13 off the track), it is intriguing that Andrew W. Griffin sync-mind is set off by something he is watching on TNT. And the TNT area in Point Pleasant was where the Mothman was first seen the most often, in 1966.

Now it comes to light that this wreck didn't happen just "near Tacoma," but more exactly, in DuPont, Washington State, which takes its name from the chemical company. E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, commonly referred to as DuPont, is an American conglomerate that was founded in July 1802 as a gunpowder mill by American chemist and industrialist Éleuthère Irénée du Pont. On August 31, 2017 it merged with The Dow Chemical Company to create DowDuPont Inc., the world's largest chemical company in terms of sales.

What item was manufactured with some frequency in DuPont, Washington? Dynamite. What explosive is most associated with the appropriately named "TNT area" of Point Pleasant, West Virginia? Dynamite.

DuPont, Washington, located on the Puget Sound 15 miles south of Tacoma, was an important explosives plant and a premier company town. Construction of the plant took three years, with the first dynamite produced in the fall of 1909. Source.

One of the lesser known historical tidbits about DuPont, Washington is the "Dynamite Train."

During its operation, the DuPont Company had a fleet of narrow-gauge locomotives and rail cars to deliver materials and explosives between the old DuPont Powderworks Plant and the Puget Sound. When the DuPont Company sold the plant and surrounding property in 1977 to Weyerhaeuser, the fleet of locomotives, flat bed and boxcars were included with the sale. In the same year, the DuPont Historical Museum opened. Members began the task of retrieving artifacts and oral history accounts to preserve DuPont’s unique history. In the early 1980s, residents organized a grass roots effort to rescue a 1941 Plymouth 12-ton engine along with 5 other rail cars from Weyerhaeuser. It is the particular train locomotive that navigated the line, which resides under the Train Canopy. Source.

Suicide On A Bridge In Wake of Sexual Molestation Accusation

It was a quiet enough bit of news. But is it an old reaction added to the new stories? Will copycats follow?

In the wake of the tsunami of sexual assault allegations and sexual misconduct revelations, a sea change in our culture is occurring in late 2017.

On December 13, 2017, a suicide has been added to the storm. Suicidologists may be a little surprised it took two months for this behavior to surface.

The victims of the alleged sexual abuse incidents should rightfully be listened to, although the focus of the media treatments have often been the alleged predators.

One such individual, Kentucky state legislator Dan Johnson, appears to be the first publicly discussed suicide. He shot himself on a bridge in Mount Washington, southeast of Louisville, Bullitt County Sheriff Donnie Tinnell told WDRB. His body turned up on a riverbank near the bridge and the weapon reportedly was found at the scene.

Bullitt County Coroner Dave Billings said Johnson died of a single gunshot wound December 13, 2017, Wednesday night on Greenwell Ford Road in Mount Washington, Kentucky. Billings said Johnson stopped his car at the end of a bridge over the Salt River in a secluded area, then got out, walked to the front of his SUV and shot himself in the chin. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning. Johnson was 57.

Johnson (October 18, 1960 – December 13, 2017) was an American evangelical pastor and Republican member of the Kentucky House of Representatives, representing the 49th District in 2017. In December 2017, Johnson was accused of having molested a member of his church in 2012, when she was 17 years old. Johnson refused to resign, claiming the allegations were untrue, and died by suicide two days later.

A KyCIR investigation published Monday (December 11, 2017) outlined Johnson’s history of alleged crimes, lies and deceit and included the woman’s account of the alleged molestation. The account, based on police files and interviews with Maranda Richmond and her family, detailed how detectives closed the sexual assault case, citing Richmond’s lack of cooperation.

But Richmond denied that assertion. She said she had always pushed for Johnson’s prosecution. Experts who reviewed the case file at the request of KyCIR said police botched the investigation from the beginning, misclassifying the charge and more.

Richmond alleged Johnson molested her in the church’s basement following a New Year’s party. She said Johnson shoved his tongue into her mouth, groped her breasts under her shirt, pushed his hands down her pants and penetrated her with his finger.

Richmond spoke at length about the encounter and the impact it had on her life. She shared notes from her therapists and police files, including a scratchy recording in which her father, at the LMPD’s behest, called Johnson on a recorded line and sought his confession. She also shared a Facebook message from Johnson in which he claimed he was drugged that night and apologized for being “mean” to her.

Johnson was a bishop at the Heart of Fire Church in Louisville, Kentucky. The church is nondenominational and evangelical. Johnson referred to himself as the "pope" of the church, and was once photographed with Donald Trump.

Johnson was elected to the state House in 2016, defeating Democratic incumbent Linda Belcher by a narrow margin. He was elected from the 49th House district, covering Bullitt County. Johnson was known for his inflammatory comments on Facebook, including posts depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes and anti-Muslim comments, and the use of Confederate flags and noting his love of "white people." These activities prompted Republican leaders to call on him to drop out of the state House race. He didn't.

On December 11, 2017, Johnson was accused of having molested a member of his church on New Year's Eve of 2012, when she was 17 years old. Although the Republican Party of Kentucky requested his resignation, Johnson refused to resign, claiming the allegations were untrue and were politically motivated.

A rambling pre-suicide posting of Johnson's was found on his Facebook page.

Johnson died by suicide on December 13, 2017, almost immediately after the accusation
against him was made public. In a message posted to Facebook (above) shortly
before his suicide, Johnson reiterated his claim that allegations that he had
sexually molested a minor were false, and he stated that he was no longer
able to cope with post-traumatic stress disorder he alluded to having
developed after the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

Today is December 8, 2017.

In 1980, it was on December 8, at the Dakota, that John Lennon was assassinated. Lennon's murder caused an outpouring of grief around the world on an unprecedented scale. Lennon had been killed by a former believer in UFOs, Mark David Chapman. Lennon's death resulted in at least three fans dying by suicide. America changed a bit after that assassination, as it did after JFK, RFK, and MLK were struck down.

On this date in 1861, Georges Méliès, the French actor, director, producer, and screenwriter, was born; his A Trip to the Moon (1902) and The Impossible Voyage (1904), foreshadowed and influenced fantasy science fiction films.

Today is also the birthdays of Diego Rivera (1886), Maximilian Schell (1930), David Carradine (1936), Jim Morrison (1943), and Sinéad O'Connor (1966). In 2016, on December 8, John Glenn died.

The syncs are there. We just have to have our eyes wide open. In 1981 (as noted on Facebook) or 1971 (it's one of those social media "alternative facts"), David Charles Plate was born on December 8. (The date has some personal significance to me, as well: On December 8, 1985, my father died at the age of 64.)

I'm announcing the Synchromystic of the Year 2017: David Charles Plate, today. It seems like the appropriate date.

Plate has been riding a comet this year. I have been watching this individual produce amazing works worth diving deeply into for some time, as we all partake of a bit of his stream-of-consciousness thinking and fish for his thoughtful insights.

William Morgan shares with me that "the sheer amount of work [David Charles Plate] has done this year is absolutely astounding."

Alan Abbadessa Green feels Plate has "certainly been the most prolific this year" among many active synchromystics.

David Charles Plate is a synchronicity filmmaker, artist, and an authority in Hebrew Kabbalah. He is a student of the Zohar and the Occult. He notes, in his Facebook profile, that he has worked, in the past, at Ultramat and Metavinyl, and now at Picture Appeal, The Sync Book and Gonzo Journalism. He lives in Santa Cruz, and is from Santa Cruz, California. Maybe he has, maybe he hasn't.

Like a lot of synchromystics, finding a biography or even a bibliography of Plate's works is difficult. Perhaps posting this will reveal a list I was not able to find, and I'll update this. In the meantime, let's look at the number one recent item that is drawing a lot of attention and praise.

A major work that has inspired others is Sorry Cassandra I Misunderstood: EVERYTHING PREDICTS 9-11.

David Charles Plate wrote somewhere once: "My close friend [Joe Alexander] produced a film called Back to the Future Predicts 9-11, this is both a response to this video of his, as well as its sequel."

The film (7 hrs, 36 minutes, 11 seconds in length) is introduced with the following:

This film was a collaborative effort on the part of many researchers working in the field of synchronicity and 'high weirdness,' uncovering anomolies that could be called impossible in their implications, yet demonstrably true regardless. One intention of this project is simply to share our discoveries with those open minded individuals who recognize and appreciate our documentation and get some degree of the joy from its reception as we do in its delivery. It is in the nature of this research that various media be utilized to convey one's findings, there simply is no other way; therefore, it is our hope (and quite literally our prayer) that its ultimate purpose and significance be acknowledged and accepted by whosoever determines what is permissible through this platform in regard to copyright, seeing as how this is non profit research, despite its uncoventional form, which we assure you is the way it is specifically to encourage insight on the part of the viewer, rather than compartmentalizing what is being presented in a more traditional analytic way. This film centers mainly around Back to the Future, the band ABBA, Stanley Kubrick, the 1980 film The Visitors/Artificial Intelligence, The Walk, 9-11, and the 2 biggest hotel fires that have occurred in U.S. history: The Winecoff fire of 1946 in Atlanta Georgia and the MGM Grand fire of 1980 in Paradise Nevada, the 2nd of which happened to occur the day and year The Visitor was released in the U.S. while the location of the 1st can be seen in one of the opening shots of said film. This project was inspired by extensive studies in the Zohar and years of translating ancient Kabbalistic texts from Hebrew and Aramaic with a Rabbi. When these studies were applied to the goings on in the world at large, the following is what had emerged out of this. This film took well over a year to arrange, though many, many years to actually develop; it is dedicated to the band ABBA; it is therefor this writer's wish that it somehow makes it to them (of course I realize this potential outcome to be highly unlikely, but as this work itself demonstrates, stranger things have certainly happened, no doubt). Plate engages in art, film, and music creations that draw connections among various elements of modern culture (movies, music lyrics, historical happenings and esoteric knowledge). He also finds connections that could be coming from the "collective unconscious mind," and between occult knowledge (i.e. esoteric fraternities, cults and secret rituals), politics and mass media.

Aztec School Shooting

Aztec High School is a public high school in Aztec, New Mexico. The school colors are Black and Orange and the mascot is the fighting Tiger.

Aztec (Navajo: Kinteel) is a city and county seat of San Juan County, New Mexico, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 6,763. The Aztec Ruins National Monument is located on the north side of the city. Located within the city limits of Aztec, the Aztec Ruins National Monument is a UNESCO World Heritage site managed by the National Park Service. Visitors are allowed to take a self-guided tour through the ruins of the main roomblock and restored Great Kiva.

On the morning of December 7, 2017, the San Juan County Sheriff's Department responded to an active shooter on campus. The New Mexico State Police confirmed that two students were killed by the gunman, who died as well. 

Audio files uploaded to Broadcastify by San Juan County General Dispatch caught the first few minutes of the incident. A law enforcement officer can be heard saying, "I think officers were shooting out the windows to get inside" as alarms are going off in the background.

According to The Washington Post, fifteen others were injured. It was not immediately clear if the shooting happened inside the school, who was suspected of firing the shots, and what condition the injured were in. 

Lt. Kyle Lincoln reported the clearing of the building and the searching of the school.

The Aztec, New Mexico, UFO incident (sometimes known as the "other Roswell") was a flying saucer crash alleged to have happened in 1948 in Aztec, New Mexico. The story was first published in 1949 by author Frank Scully in his Variety magazine columns, and later in his 1950 book "Behind the Flying Saucers". In the mid 1950s, the story was exposed as a hoax fabricated by two confidence men, Silas M. Newton and Leo A. Gebauer as part of a fraudulent scheme to sell supposed alien technology. Beginning in the 1970s, some Ufologists resurrected the story in books claiming the purported crash was real. In 2013, an FBI memo claimed by some Ufologists to substantiate the crash story was dismissed by the bureau as "a second- or third-hand claim that we never investigated."
