More Random Violence: Ohio and Texas

Details are just coming in, but there appear to be new reports of two random violent incidents today, March 14, 2012.  These seem to be similar to those last week, previously mentioned here.

Info, thusfar:

Four people have been stabbed in a downtown Columbus, Ohio, building, police say. Three are in critical condition. The suspect, who was later shot by a police officer, is in custody and in critical condition, police say.

A man stabbed four people at a downtown office building Wednesday afternoon, March 14, 2012, and was shot by a police officer he lunged at with his weapon, authorities and a witness said.

Three of the victims are in critical condition and a fourth received minor injuries, Columbus police spokesman Sgt. Rich Weiner said. The suspect, whose name hasn't been released, is also in critical condition.

The attack was reported before 1 p.m. at a building that houses offices of the attorney general and Miami-Jacobs Career College.

Two persons killed and at least two injured in shooting at Jefferson County, Texas, courthouse, judge says.

A shooting at the Jefferson County Courthouse in Beaumont, Texas (above), has left two people dead and three injured, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

The news today is saying this is "the second courthouse shooting to happen in the past week." On Monday, March 7, a shooting outside the Tulsa County Courthouse in Oklahoma left one deputy and three others injured. A barefoot man went to the courthouse plaza and began shooting randomly.

While it was the second shooting at a courthouse in a week, it was the third violent attack at a court in as much time. On Friday, March 9, 2012, Steven Kravetz was reported to be acting strangely at the Grays Harbor District Court. Around lunchtime Friday, Deputy Polly Davin responded to a report of a suspicious person at the courthouse and confronted a man (Kravetz). During a struggle, she was stabbed with either a small knife or scissors. Judge David Edwards intervened, striking the assailant, who then stabbed him. Davin reached for her gun, but it was wrestled away by Kravetz, who shot twice, striking her in the shoulder before fleeing. Both the judge and the sheriff's deputy were treated and released from a hospital hours after the attack. Kravetz, 34, was caught the next day, hiding at his mother's house.
