The Loughner Space Coincidences

"What is government if words have no meaning?" Jared Lee Loughner asked Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., in 2007.


So what is the meaning of Loughner? It appears to be a Americanized version of the German name Lachner, which is an "occupational name for a physician, Middle High German lachenære 'healer' (see Leach), which issues from the "topographic name for someone who lived by a pond or lake, from Middle High German lache."  The leeches found in aquatic locales, of course, are associated with the medieval medical practice of "bleeding," often by applying leeches to the sick person, (Dictionary of American Family Names, Oxford University Press).

"Lough" is the Irish word for "loch" or "lake," so the origins of the name is decidedly watery in nature.


The Jared Lee Loughner case has developed into a classic weird trip through a variety of twilight language links, often with an assortment of strange space coincidences.


Here's a list of some that have been revealed, to date:


1) NASA Obsession


Jared Loughner is allegedly a believer in numerous conspiracy theories. Loughner did express views such as the U.S. Government was responsible for the 9/11/2001 attacks, a New World Order would bring about a one world currency, there would be a 2012 apocalypse, NASA had faked spaceflights, and the government was using mind control to brainwash people by controlling grammar.  


Some of the more bizarre speculations that he espoused at the Above Top Secret forum (as Erad3) involved space-related topics, including that the Space Shuttles and the International Space Station were flying empty, without humans aboard, and that NASA's Mars rovers were faked. Erad3's logic was incredibly contoured. For example, he would write passages like this:

If the NASA Space Shuttle is with a crew in orbit then they're able to perform the mission with the conditions in orbit. 

They're not able to perform the mission with the conditions in orbit. 

Thus, the NASA Space Shuttle isn’t with a crew in orbit. 

And...

If the pictures are from mars then the mars rover is on mars. 

The Mars rover is not on mars. 

Therefore, the pictures are not from mars. 

NASA creates a remote control rover that is impossible to reach mars. 

NASA fakes the situation they plan with the mars rover. 

Therefore, NASA creates a remote control rover that’s impossible to reach mars and fakes the situation they plan with the mars rover. 

Considering Loughner's NASA-related thoughts, the factual and fictional links to the NASA Space Programs in the Tucson shooting are chilling.


2) Giffords' NASA Astronaut Husband


Loughner's alleged assassination target was Representative Gabrielle Giffords. She has been married, since 2007, to NASA astronaut and Space Shuttle commander Mark E. Kelly. Mark Edward Kelly (born February 21, 1964, in Orange, New Jersey) is an American astronaut. Kelly is the commander of STS-134 Endeavour, the final planned mission of the American space shuttle program.

Kelly (pictured above) first went into space as the pilot for STS-108 Endeavour December 5–17, 2001. He returned to space as the pilot of STS-121 Discovery July 4-17, 2006. On Kelly's third mission he served as commander of STS-124 Discovery May 31 to June 14, 2008. Kelly's fourth mission, STS-134, has a target launch date of April 19, 2011.

While three members of Congress themselves have flown in space, Kelly is the first person to fly in space while married to a member of the U.S. Congress.

3) Giffords' Husband's Astronaut Twin

Gabby Giffords' husband's brother is an astronaut too. Mark E. Kelly's twin brother, Scott Joseph Kelly, is also a NASA astronaut. The Kelly brothers are the only twins and the only siblings who have both traveled in space.


Scott J. Kelly (born February 21, 1964, in Orange, New Jersey) is an American astronaut. Kelly is the current commander of the International Space Station, Expedition 26 (ISS). He took over command after the undocking of Soyuz TMA-19 on November 25, 2010. Kelly served as a flight engineer on the final part of Expedition 25. A veteran of two space shuttle missions, Kelly joined the crew of ISS on October 9, 2010 after arriving on a Russian Soyuz spacecraft. He was in space when his sister-in-law was shot.

On 1.11.11, Commander Scott Kelly, Gabrielle Giffords' brother-in-law, led a moment of silence through NASA at the International Space Station. "The crew of ISS Expedition 26 and the flight control centers around the world would like to observe a moment of silence in honor of all the victims, which include my sister-in-law Gabrielle Giffords, a caring and dedicated public servant," said Commander Kelly. Kelly is in charge of a six-person team at the ISS.

4) "Erad" appeared at first to refer to "radiation energy density," a term associated with electromagnetic radiation in space. Erad thus would be a space-associated, frequently used, NASA-understood abbreviation. Jared Lee Loughner apparently used the name erad3 on the Above Top Secret forum, where he made an impression disputing the reality of NASA missions. 


Some have said that "erad3" means "triple dare," since "erad" is "dare" spelled backwards + 3.  Info on 1.14.2011 supports Loughner having used the name "dare" on a gaming fantasy site, so "erad" may be "dare" backwards. Perhaps it is merely another coincidence that there are NASA documents denoted with the "ERAD3" designation.


Was Loughner obsessed with the NASA links to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords?  If so, we may never know.  Meanwhile, the cosmos played a bizarre twist of fate in the next chance event.


5) The Very Strange Name Game Coincidence of the Two Dr. David Bowmans

Dr. David Bowman and his wife Nancy both rendered care to victims of the Tuscon shooting; they are shown above with Bill Hileman.  The main person that Dr. Bowman treated was Bill's wife, Suzie Hileman.  Suzie Hileman had taken 9-year-old Christina Taylor-Green to the "Congress On Your Corner" event.  Christina was born on 9/11/2001.

The fictional astronaut and scientist Dr. David Bowman is a character in the Space Odyssey series. He first appears in a story jointly written by Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke, called 2001: A Space Odyssey (which is both a book and a movie). The character later appears in the sequel to the book, 2010: Odyssey Two and the sequel to the movie, 2010: The Year We Make Contact. The character also returns in two more books by Arthur C. Clarke, 2061: Odyssey Three, and 3001: The Final Odyssey. In the foreword to 2061: Odyssey Three, Clarke makes it clear that the plots of the movies and books do not necessarily follow a linear arc, and take place in parallel universes, consequently there are apparent inconsistencies in the character of David Bowman throughout the series.

In the two movies, the character is played by Keir Dullea. The character is infrequently referenced as being "twin astronauts" in parallel universes.


As has been pointed out on other sites and forwarded to me by correspondent SMiles Lewis, another tie-in with the David Bowman/Space Odyssey coincidences, of course, is that the twin brother of Gifford's husband, Scott Kelly, was a pilot for the space shuttle Discovery, which is the name of the spaceship on which David Bowman makes his fateful journey in 2001 on his way to becoming the Starchild. The links revolving around the first flight for Mark Kelly in 2001, and that the year 2001 was the year of birth for Christina Green are all rather chilling.

Mona Lisa's Twilight Language

According to the Associated Press, a researcher has found symbols in Mona Lisa:

Letters, numbers claimed found in the painting

Forget her smile. An Italian researcher says the key to solving the
enigmas of "Mona Lisa'" lies in her eyes.

Silvano Vinceti claims he has found the letter "S'' in the woman's
left eye, the letter "L'' in her right eye, and the number "72" under
the arched bridge in the backdrop of Leonardo da Vinci's famous
painting. According to the researcher, the symbols open up new leads
to identifying the model, dating the painting, and attesting to
Leonardo's interest in religion and mysticism.

This is just the latest theory about a painting that has never ceased
to intrigue scholars, art lovers and casual viewers alike. Others have
claimed the painting is really the portrait of a man, or a
self-portrait, while speculation over the reason for the model's
famously enigmatic smile have ranged from pregnancy to mourning.

Some Leonardo scholars have expressed doubt over the new findings or
their significance, with one calling them "unsubstantial."

The newly found symbols are not visible to the naked eye. Vinceti said
Wednesday they are "very small, painted with a tiny brush and
subjected to the wear and tear of time."

Vinceti has not studied the painting directly at the Louvre Museum,
where it is on display. He said his research was based on
high-definition scanned images from the Lumiere Technology in Paris,
which specializes in digitizing artworks. Back in Italy, a Rome
laboratory digitally excluded reflexes and other colors in the eyes in
order to isolate the letters and make them stand out, Vinceti said.

The number "72" was recently found hidden in an arch of the bridge to
the right of the model, he told The Associated Press.

Tradition holds that the "Mona Lisa" is a painting of Lisa Gherardini,
wife of Florentine merchant Francesco del Giocondo, and that Leonardo
started painting it in 1503.

But Vinceti said the "S'' might refer to a woman in the Sforza dynasty
that ruled Milan. Leonardo spent time there between 1482-1499 and then
between 1506-1507, Vinceti said, which might change the date of when
the painting was begun.

Vinceti said the letter on the painting is drawn in the same way
Leonardo did in his writings. The letter "L'' is for Leonardo, he
said.

Vinceti and his group of historians and researchers are currently
studying documents and making cross-references about Leonardo's
movements and possible models. He said they expect to come up with a
name for the model within weeks.

The number "72," Vinceti argues, is found in the Kabbalah, a form of
Jewish mysticism, and in Christianity. Even when considered
separately, "7'' is full of symbolic associations in both Judaism and
Christianity, for example to the creation of the world, and the number
"2'' may be a reference to the duality of male and female, said
Vinceti.

The researcher said he remains open to other interpretations, but
insisted that the "Mona Lisa" was more than just a painting for
Leonardo ó it was a "cultural will" of sorts.

"Leonardo did nothing by chance," said Vinceti. "He wanted to leave
his final thoughts on his view of the universe."

Vinceti is the same researcher who has recently said he located
Caravaggio's remains. He also sought to dig up Leonardo's body in
France to conduct carbon and DNA testing.

Alessandro Vezzosi, the director of a museum dedicated to Leonardo in
his Tuscan hometown of Vinci, was skeptical.

Vezzosi argued that multiple sources prove that the painting depicts a
woman from Florence, saying the purported new symbols are insufficient
to counter that evidence.

Claudio Strinati, an art historian and an official with the Italian
Culture Ministry, said Leonardo's passion for the Kabbalah is well
known. But he doesn't believe that Leonardo wanted to attach any
symbolic meaning to the letters and numbers, otherwise he would have
left better clues.

"Over the past decades there have been so many interpretations I don't
even remember them all," Strinati told the AP. "We all think the (Mona
Lisa) is this constant source of mystery. The truth is, when you set
your mind to finding a secret, you can demonstrate whatever you want."

Loughner: A Copycat?

In terms of attempting to figure out a mass shooter, we must ask the question, what motivates someone like Jared Lee Loughner?

What triggered a rampage like the one he delivered?

While the television and radio spinners discuss the impact of Sarah Palin's now infamous map of bullseyes targeting specific Congressional districts, the only opinion to consider is how Rep. Gabby Giffords felt about it.


Rep. Gabrielle Giffords told MSNBC when the map was published during the 2010 campaign, "We are on Sarah Palin’s targeted list,” noting that hers was one of 20 conservative districts being highlighted. 

“The way that she has it depicted has the crosshairs of the gunsight over our district. When people do that, they have got to realize there are consequences to that action.”

When it was pointed out that martial themes were a staple of political discourse, Giffords responded: “Some of my colleagues have served 20, 30 years, and they have never seen it like this.”

Sarah Palin then made things worse by saying things like "Don't retreat, reload!'' Sharron Angle in Nevada talked of "Second Amendment remedies."

Was Loughner influenced by the map and the climate of these times? We don't know. Evidence is being developed that he had a grudge against Giffords dating back to 2007.

Loughner's longstanding dislike for Gabrielle Giffords, a Blue Dog Democrat, had him calling her a "fake." This apparent displeasure intensified when he attended one of Giffords' outside events, of August 25, 2007 and she did not, in his view, sufficiently answer the question he asked her. The question was, "What is government if words have no meaning?"

What is also being revealed is that Loughner haunted the Internet forums, as a confused conspiracy "believer."

Loughner was a believer of numerous conspiracy theories, and espoused views such as that the United States Government was responsible for the September 11 attacks, a New World Order would bring about a one world currency, there would be a 2012 apocalypse, NASA had faked spaceflights, and the government was using mind control to brainwash people by controlling grammar. He was a member of the online conspiracy theory message board Above Top Secret, though members of the site did not respond warmly to his posts. He felt one could create their only currency.

A Washington Post article by David A. Fahrenthold, Washington Post staff writer, on Tuesday, January 11, 2012, dealt with the appearance of Jared Loughner at the Above Top Secret site:

[A] new user, who joined the site in early 2009 ...called himself "Erad3." Now - based on the language in his postings, and information about where he logged on - the site's operators believe Erad3 was accused Arizona shooter Jared Lee Loughner, 22.

"I'd go with 99 percent," said Bill Irvine, chief executive of the site's parent company, when asked how certain he was that Erad3 and Loughner were the same person.

The story of those postings - now compiled online at Abovetopsecret.com - adds new detail to the story of Loughner's apparent unraveling.

In real life, friends say, Loughner had pushed away friends and alienated classmates with his odd behavior. After that, it appears, he sought a community online. But, in a gathering place for skeptics and conspiracy theorists, his views still brought ridicule - and even a plea for him to seek help.

"I think youre frankly schizophrenic, and no that's not an amateur opinion and not intended as an uninformed or insulting remark, you clearly make no sense and are unable to communicate. I really do care," a user with the nickname "mordant1" wrote July 11. "Seek help before you hurt yourself or others or start taking your medications again, please."

Erad3 responded to that with a stream of bizarre arguments, touching on ideas familiar from Loughner's YouTube videos. He wrote often about grammar, and inventing one's own currency. But he ended, "Thank you for the concern."

"It seemed like he was hoping he might fit in on a site like ours. But, as you can tell, he really didn't," Irvine said in a telephone interview Tuesday from the site's Scottsdale, Ariz., headquarters. "He seemed just . . . way, way out there, from some of his ideas."

Among Erad3's ideas: The space shuttles and the International Space Station were flying empty, without humans aboard. NASA's Mars rovers were faked. Individuals could make their own currency.

"just thought id pop in to let you know that to me you sound absolutely bonkers," one poster wrote in response.

"The name calling is about to cease!" Erad3 wrote back. He persisted in his belief that the shuttle was fake: "The entering into orbit might be able to kill a human."

None of the posts mention U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), who was apparently the initial target of Saturday's rampage. Giffords was shot in the head and seriously wounded. Six people died in the attack, and 13 others were wounded.

In none of his posts, Irvine said, did Erad3 seem to threaten violence.

By the time of the attack, Erad3 had not posted anything in several months. On Saturday, as news of the attack filtered out, other site users began to identify Erad3 as Loughner. 

This may have been based on the similarities between his posts on the site and YouTube videos attributed to Loughner.

That evening, someone posted on one of Erad3's old threads, about the idea that the Mars rovers were faked: "OP [original poster] is believed to be the shooter in today's assassination attempt."

Throughout the ATS site some deleting appears to be occurring. Jared Loughner, a/k/a erad3 posted on Chupacabras, NASA conspiracies, and even, apparently True Giants, as can be revealed by some cache finds. But please note, Loughner does not seem to have posted any anti-Jewish or anti-Zionist comments.  Unfortunately, Sarah Palin's use of "blood libel" and "solution," combined with her earlier bullseye map has resulted in new claims of anti-Semitic underpinnings to this story. (Giffords is Jewish.)

What influences pushed Jared Loughner to do what he did? Perhaps only the demons inside his mind could reveal the answer to that question. Were his demons mad? Perhaps so.

Certainly, recent weeks have seen enough mass shooting models existing throughout the media for any vulnerable, mentally unstable person to take into their cosmos. What Jared Loughner was watching and what inspired him are bits of the puzzle that are still missing.

Let's not forget, as  Village Voice Media Executive Editor Michael Lacey observed: Loughner's actions were more the result of mental illness than ideology. It is from that framework that we should be looking for the behavior contagion triggers, not the cryptopolitical ones, for to do so merely joins Loughner in his mental illness.
