The twilight language explores hidden meanings and synchromystic connections via onomatology (study of names) and toponymy (study of place names). This blog further investigates "name games" and "number coincidences" found in news and history. Examinations are also found in my book The Copycat Effect (NY: Simon and Schuster, 2004).
On Thursday, July 23, 2015, at the Grand 16, in Lafayette, Louisiana, an unidentified 59-year-old male opened fire on a crowd of viewers at Trainwreck.
This occurred at 7:30 pm. Reportedly, 3 are dead, including the gunman. Also, apparently 7 are injured.
The name of the gunman is John Russell Houser, 59, former of Phenix City. Alabama. The last true battle of the Civil War took place in Phenix City, then known as Girard.
Houser is a variant on the German surname Hauser.
Hauser Name Meaning. German (also Häuser) and Jewish (Ashkenazic): from Middle High German hus 'house', German Haus, + the suffix -er, denoting someone who gives shelter or protection. Compare Hausmann.variant of Hausen.
It has not been lost on sync thinkers that "Houser" is technically another evolved variation of the same root name that gives us "Holmes." House/home.
The use of the terminology of "drifter," as a law enforcement and media description for the late Lafayette theater shooter John Russell "Rusty" Houser, appears to be rather unconsciously calculated. What it does is to reinforce the notion that Houser is a "lone gunman," without connections. Within synchromystic circles, the name game thoughts on Lafayette's Houser/Hauser origins ("house") and Aurora's Holmes etymology ("home"), therefore, are in stark contrast to the definition of a "drifter": a person who is continually moving from place to place, without any fixed home or job.
Synonyms for drifter: wanderer, traveler, transient, roamer, itinerant, tramp, vagabond, vagrant, hobo, bum ~ example, "a lonesome drifter who had come from parts unknown".
Joe Mehl sends along these links to the names and their meanings: John (Water - Fish God - Sumerian Lucifer); Russell (Red Haired - Red - Fox); Houser (German Hauser - House - Shelter - Protection).
CNN Wolf Blitzer is reporting shooter John Houser was "very political," flew Confederate and Don't Tread On Me flags in his yard.
Correspondent Robert Phoenix, who alerted me to the Phenix City, Alabama, link to the Lafayette shooter, also pointed out this intriguing point: "Roof and Houser."
PM writes: "In the instance of Aurora, James Holmes killed 12, injured 70.
In this instance of Lafayette, 3 were killed and 7 were injured according to the report.
1+2 = 3, 7+0 = 7. Same numerical equivalent."
Also, "Notice they say gunfire broke out at '7:30pm'. 7 and 3 are consistent here. Although I've only read this report so cannot say whether these are the widely reported numbers."

The news of the Chattanooga shooting is all over the media today, as it should be. Four U.S. Marines were killed, and the shooter was found dead.
At the bottom is a typical detailed news article.
Let's look at the twilight language in the story.
These events occurred at 11 am on one road that is known as the Lee Highway. Lee Highway is a National Auto Trail in the United States connecting New York City and San Francisco, California via the South and Southwest. It was named after Robert E. Lee. Lee Highway passes through East Tennessee via US 11 from Chattanooga to Dixie Lee Junction.
Considering the recent events in Charleston on Calhoun Street, here we find ourselves with an event on a highway with a name again associated with a Confederate general.
The other road is Amnicola Highway. The thoroughfare was named for Thomas Crutchfield's plantation.
Amnicola was an antebellum estate owned by Thomas Crutchfield. He named the farm "Amnicola", which in Latin means "dwelling by the river". The farm was the site where General Sherman's troops crossed the Tennessee River prior to the Battle of Missionary Ridge. The house served as a field hospital during the conflict. In the morning of November 24, 1863, the Crutchfield family awoke to find their farm occupied by several thousand soldiers from the Union's Army of the Tennessee, who had arrived by pontoon boats during the night. Under the command of General William Tecumseh Sherman, the troops immediately began digging rifle trenches and fortifications. A floating bridge was built across the Tennessee River, and by afternoon, some 17,000 men had crossed to attack Confederate positions on the north end of Missionary Ridge. After the battle, a field hospital was set up at Amnicola, and in the days that followed, over a thousand wounded soldiers were treated there. The war left Amnicola in shambles. Years of work were required to rebuild. Crutchfield succeeded in restoring the plantation and its beautiful gardens. He was widely known for his advanced farming practices, orchards, sheep, and cattle. With his generous and genial nature, Thomas Crutchfield, Jr. had great influence on the early development of Chattanooga. He died in 1886. Source.
An ancient Indian mound was found on Amnicola Highway.
The specific meaning of Amnicola is from amnis ("river") + colō ("cultivate").
The Chickamauga and Chattanooga campaign in the Civil War was a significant part of the conflict in the South.
The etymology of Chickamauga and Chattanooga points to an old story in which Chickamauga means the "River of Blood."
Chattanooga is also allegedly known as Atlanuwa, Hawk’s Nest, or the home of the Tlanuwa, which is actually more like the Thunderbird.
As far as a name game with the killer's name, he was the one who talked of his own name. Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez used this quote with his Red Bank High School senior picture, "My name causes national security alerts. What does yours do?" Hijabman.
"HijabMan" means "Muslim hipster."
The date is significant. Ramadan began in the evening of Wednesday, June 17, 2015, and ends in the evening of Friday, July 17, 2015. Today, July 16, 2015, is the last full day of Ramadan.

Four military personnel were shot and killed and a Chattanooga Police officer was shot Thursday morning in an attack on a local military recruiting office on Lee Highway, then a shootout near the Naval Reserve Center on Amnicola Highway. The police officer was reported in stable condition with a shot to the ankle. Two others were injured. The shooter was shot and killed. Reports listed his name as Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, who was living in Hixson and is originally from Phoenix, Ariz. A SWAT Team and numerous police units were at his home on Colonial Way Circle, which is off Colonial Drive near Lake Chickamauga. Near-by neighbors were told to leave their residences. Abdulazeez is a naturalized U.S. citizen from Kuwait. President Barack Obama gave a live statement from the White House condemning the attack and saying authorities will make every effort to determine the facts surrounding the incident. He issued his condolences to the four families who lost loved ones. An ISIS-affiliated account tweeted "You will see wonders Chattanooga" at about the time of the shooting outbreak. The shootings were at a Naval recruiting facility at 6219 Lee Highway and the Naval Reserve Center on Amnicola Highway. FBI Agent in Charge Ed Reinhold said those killed were at the facility on Amnicola Highway near the Riverpark. He said the shooter started at the military facility on Lee Highway around 10:45 a.m. Numerous bullet holes were in the front door, and there were a number of shell casings on the parking lot. A witness said a vehicle pulled up and the driver brought out a large gun. She said he "fired one shot, then there were endless shots." She said some people from the recruiting office ran out the back door. Agent Reinhold said the man drove the seven miles between the two facilities, and the entire incident was over in about 30 minutes. He did not answer a question at an afternoon press conference on whether the shooter was shot by police or took his own life. He said the shooter is from the Chattanooga area. Early on, Mayor Andy Berke said one police officer and a shooting suspect were down. Mayor Berke tweeted "Horrific incident in our community. We will release details as they are confirmed. Prayers to all those affected." At the press conference he called it "a nightmare for the city of Chattanooga," saying there was "a vicious attack at two different locations on people who proudly serve our country." Mayor Berke called it "incomprehensible" and said authorities "will respond will every resource we have available." Police Chief Fred Fletcher praised city and county police for responding quickly and preventing further carnage. The gunman was reportedly driving a silver Mustang and wielding a high-powered rifle. Agent Reinhold said he had numerous weapons with him. Numerous ambulances and emergency vehicles went to both scenes. Additional ambulances were still going to the scene at Amnicola Highway as late as 11:40 a.m. Chattanooga State Community College nearby was on lockdown and later called off classes for the rest of the day. Amnicola Highway was blocked in both directions.
Shortly after 1 p.m., police said the "active shooter" situation was over. There were no reported shootings in Bradley County, but authorities were making a "clean sweep" at the Bradley County Mall. Special ATF agents were being sent to Chattanooga in response to the shootings. Agent Reinhold said several hundred FBI agents would be sent here to investigate. U.S. Attorney Bill Killian said the FBI is in charge of the probe, but that it would be a joint investigation. He said it was still to be determined whether it was an act of terrorism or a criminal act. U.S. Attorney Killian called it "a sad day for the United States." Officials from Erlanger said, "Today a tragic incident took place in our community. Following the shooting incident which occurred this morning on Amnicola Highway, Erlanger’s Trauma Center received three shooting victims, a Chattanooga police officer and two members of the military. One of those patients was discharged from Erlanger this afternoon; the other two are still being treated. "Erlanger officials continue to work closely with the Mayor’s Office, Chattanooga Police Department, Hamilton County Emergency Operations Center and federal officials. More information will be released on the condition of the remaining gunshot victims as it becomes available. "Our facility remains open to patients. Emergency patients are still being accepted, and everyone has the ability to arrive and depart from our hospital. "Please join our staff in keeping the families and victims of this terrible tragedy in your thoughts and prayers." Authorities said they had no warning about the attack. No flights at the Chattanooga Airport were impacted; the airport has remained open and operational throughout the day. The sanctuary of Abba’s House is open for prayer for the city until 6:30 p.m. Officials said, "The community is welcome to come and pray for the families of those who were killed, those who were wounded, first responders, military and the city."
In light of Thursday's tragedy there will be a Community-Wide Prayer Vigil, at 7:30 p.m. at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 6314 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga. Church of the Highlands will hold a city-wide prayer gathering for the victims of Thursday's shootings, and peace to come to the Scenic City at 6:30 p.m. at 6621 Hunter Road, Harrison, Tn. 37341. The community is invited to join in praying for the city. The Derby Downs Subdivision off of Hickory Valley Road in Chattanooga is placing its neighborhood flag at half mast and lining the entrance way with small American flags. This is an act of respect for the 4 Marines who lost their lives on Thursday and in honor of the law enforcement who keep Chattanooga safe. Could the next major theatrical mass shooting occur on August 5, 2016?
Remember Friday, July 20, 2012? James Holmes opened fire on the patrons at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, just as The Dark Knight Rises began, killing 12 and injuring 70 others. The night was the premiere evening for the film. (See also here, here, and here.)
Do you recall what occurred a year before that event? Early on Friday, July 22, 2011, a person dressed as a policeman (Anders Behring Breivik, a 32-year-old Norwegian right-wing extremist) fired shots at Norway's Labour Party Youth Camp on the island of Utøya, injuring and killing over 90 people, mostly young people. There were about 700 people at the camp. The death toll for the shootings at the camp plus the bombings was set at 77. The same day, on Friday, July 22, 2011,Captain America: The First Avenger was widely released in the United States, which began with a battle between Nazis and the film's hero - in Norway. (See also here.)
The movie Suicide Squad opens on Friday, August 5, 2016. Is it subconsciously broadcasting the kinds of messages to those who might shoot up a movie theater?
I hope not, but stay tuned. And be forewarned.

A suspect has been caught by police after allegedly shooting to death two people in a killing spree in Ansbach in northern Bavaria, Germany, on Friday morning, July 10, 2010.
The area is known as the site of famed werewolf account, in many ways, a German version of the Beast of Gévaudan (La Bête Du Gévaudan).
Coat of Arms of Anspach.
The name of the town was originally Onolzbach, meaning "On'z Brook". It was also formerly known as Anspach.
The Wolf of Ansbach was a man-eating wolf that attacked and killed an unknown number of people in the Principality of Ansbach in 1685, then a part of the Holy Roman Empire. Initially a nuisance preying on livestock, the wolf soon began attacking women and children. The citizens of Ansbach believed the animal to be a werewolf, a reincarnation of their late and cruel Bürgermeister, whose recent death had gone unlamented. During an organized hunt the locals succeeded in driving the wolf from a nearby forest and chasing it down with dogs until it leaped into an uncovered well for protection. Trapped, the wolf was slain, and its carcass paraded through the city marketplace. It was dressed in a man's clothing and, after severing its muzzle, the crowd placed a mask, wig, and beard upon its head, giving it the appearance of the former Bürgermeister. The wolf's body was then hanged from a gibbet for all to see until it underwent preservation for permanent display at a local museum. (See also, The Book of Werewolves by Sabine Baring-Gould, and The Werewolf by Montague Summers).
Franz Ritter von Kobell and other writers wrote poems about the wolf and its actions.
The man arrested in conjunction with the July 10, 2015, Ansbach shooting is thought to be around 47 years old, is alleged to have driven in a silver Mercedes convertible to the village of Tiefenthal, where he stopped and had a brief exchange of words with an 82-year-old woman before shooting her dead.
Tuefebthal literally translates as "the deep valley." The municipality lies in a small hollow with northern slopes between the Eisbach and Eckbach valleys in the Palatinate. Tiefenthal belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde of Hettenleidelheim, whose seat is in the like-named municipality. Until 1969, the municipality belonged to the now abolished district of Frankenthal.
The German blazon reads: In Rot ein goldenes Tatzenkreuz. (A golden cross in red.) Tiefenthal’s arms might in English heraldic language be described thus: Gules a cross pattée humetty Or. The arms were approved by the now defunct Regierungsbezirk administration in Neustadt and date from a 1724 seal. They are borrowed from the arms once borne by the Counts of Leiningen-Westerburg, to whom Tiefenthal belonged.
The suspect fled the scene before shooting and killing a 72-year-old male cyclist 5km away in Rammersdorf.
Another man was threatened with a gun, and shortly afterwards a tractor driver was shot at, but was unhurt, police said.
Two mechanics working at a petrol station in Bad Windsheim overpowered the man after he entered the shop and threatened employees with a gun, police said.
Police said the man, named as Bernd G, was not previously known to the authorities.
Gerhard Neuhof, a senior public prosecutor in Ansbach, said there was no indication the gunman knew his victims and the incident appeared to have been a random killing spree.
The mayor of Leutershausen, Siegfried Hess, said he was shocked by the attack, according to the newspaper the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
Crime scene investigators in Leutershausen, near Ansbach (EPA)
Hess told the Süddeutsche Zeitung that he was "totally shocked".
Hess described the killings as "probably the worst crime in the history of the town." He said he had already sent his condolences to the family of the 82-year-old victim, and said he believed the suspect did not know the woman.
Things seem to be coming in twos, of late. The sync twins, we could call them.
The story of the man in Calais, Maine who decided on the evening of the 4th of July 2015, to put a fireworks mortar on his head and set it off, makes us wonder about folks and what they do on the 4th. But, despite the jokes about him being a Darwin Award winner, you have to remember the human element behind such news items.
Devon Staples had been drinking with friends Saturday evening and setting off fireworks, when Maine State Police say he put a mortar on his head and lit it. It exploded, killing Staples instantly. His friends and family grieve, his father said he thought it was a dud, and he was joking around. Looking deeper into the incident, it seems Staples might have not thought it was live explosive.
Turns out the 22-year-old (11 + 11) was an actor and something of a comedian. Devon Staples used to work at Disney World in Orlando and would dress up as Gaston and Goofy. The duality in his life may have ended it.
Other "celebrities" had fireworks accidents this 4th of July. A "twinning" event occurred this year when two NFL players lost fingers.
New York Giants NFL superstar Jason Pierre-Paul had his finger amputated dur to an injury to his hand during a fireworks show at his Florida home. In 2009, his junior year in college, he played for the University of Florida, Tampa, Florida, and then entered the NFL draft of 2010.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback C. J. Wilson lost two fingers due to a July 4th fireworks accident at his Lincolnton, North Carolina home.
It is really too much for me to capture, so I'm going to rely on some friends and their hints to fill out part of the picture here.
"One measures a circle, beginning anywhere," as Charles Fort wrote.
The date 7-7 seems as good as anyplace to start. Various people who were 77 died around this day, but look what happened on the date.
On July 7, 2015, over Moncks Corner, South Carolina, a F-16 fighter jet collided with a small plane, a Cessna, killing two people and raining down plane parts and debris over a wide swath of marshes and rice fields. The two people aboard the smaller Cessna were the ones killed, and the plane was completely destroyed. The pilot of the F-16 ejected and "is apparently uninjured," he said.
Then Johanna Lenski pointed out: "I just found out the time of the crash was 11 am, 11 miles away from Charleston."
Sibyl Hunter said:
The pilot, Maj. Aaron Johnson from the 55th Fighter Squadron [of Charleston] ejected and survived. Another 55/ISIS/1515 sync to go with the 77s and 11s. Also of note, the crash happened over Lewisfield Plantation where 178 slaves were once held. And I don't know if it's relevant at all but the story made the biblical rapture scripture pop into my head:
"After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air." (1 Thes 4:17)
With the killing of 9 at the Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, much thought has been placed on the name "Charles."
JL shares:
Charles \ch(ar)-les\ as a boy's name is pronounced charlz. It is of Old German origin, and the meaning of Charles is "free man". From "karl", similar to Old English "churl", meaning "man, serf" (slaves/blacks/ CHARLEStown). The first Holy Roman Emperor (seventh to eighth century) Charlemagne (Latin Carolus Magnus (Magus), meaning "Charles the Great") was a powerful German leader (Hitler?), who created a more ordered society out of the chaos that followed the fall of Rome. He united France and much of central Europe. His widespread fame gave rise to many forms of his name. Charles is the French variant of Carolus or Karolus, adopted by the English especially since the 17th-century reigns of kings Charles I and II. Charles and its variant forms have been favoured by the royalty of several countries, including the present Prince of Wales. Charlie and Charly are occasionally used for girls. See also Arlo. Naturalist Charles Darwin (Eugenics); French president Charles de Gaulle; author Charles Dickens; actor Charlie Chaplin; basketball player Charles Barkley.
Later, on July 7, 2015, the Fayette Factor collided with the day. Near the University of Maryland, there was a quadruple shooting, in the 900 block of W. Fayette St, West Baltimore, at 11 PM, 7-7-15, that left 3 dead, 1 injured.
There appears to be a good deal of duality, twins, and repeating situations going on. This happened during the animal attacks, when sharks and sturgeon appeared to be repeating attacks in the same spots. There have been others. As RS wrote me: "[Besides the] two false calls of gunshots reported on two different military bases, we should keep in mind this recent run of occurrences that take place before and then re-occur again only this time fatally. Plane crashes on the same street, a stairwell collapses again, flying sturgeon...."

As of July 8, 2015, there have been 17 lightning fatalities in the lower 48 states.
John A. Keel's 1970s' newletter, The Anomaly News often carried one of his favorite obsessions, his reports of the less-than-random intersection of lightning and the name game. Similar overlaps continue today.

At Fort Morgan, Alabama, a 12-year-old girl, Megan Nickell of North Little Rock, Arkansas, was killed by lightning on July 7, 2015. She was playing soccer on Fort Morgan peninsula beach.
National Weather Service lightning specialist John Jensenius says Nickell's death is the third lightning fatality this year in Alabama and the 17th in the country.

Enki King writes: "The odds of all these Charles syncs happening must be the same as four people getting struck by lightning in the same storm. Oh wait, that just happened. The two survivors were taken to Prince Charles Hospital."
Two men (one said to be carrying a selfie-stick) died who were hit in separate lightning strikes on the Brecon Beacons (a mountainous area of Wales), while two other men were hospitalized with their injuries at "nearby Prince Charles hospital."
One of the dead men was identified as Jeremy 'Jez' Prescott, 51, from Telford, Shropshire, (shown here with his dog Charlie), a Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition leader.
Jacob Bryan Russell Neff, 17, of Ansted, West Virginia, died on June 1, 2015, after being struck by lightning. Neff and two other boys were fishing at a pond when a tree they took shelter under was struck by lightning. The call came in around 3:30 p.m. on the 1st, in an area of Elverton Road near Fayetteville. Neff was killed and the other boys were injured. Neff was an 11th grader at Fayetteville High School, according to Charleston, WV media.

Finally, we need to mention that on July 8, 2015, three "coincidences" happened with the shut down of the United Airlines flights (all were grounded), the New York Stock Exchange (trading was suspended for about 4 hours) and the Wall Street Journal's website (was down). Homeland Security said it was not a cyberattack.
But you could not convince the social conspiracy community of that.
Those with a sense of humor felt it was Bane's fault! And here we are, full circle, back to The Dark Knight Rises.
What does it mean? Is it about the date of July 7, 2015?
Certainly, if you follow The X-Files revival news, you might be aware that the official Fox Television publicity machine put the coded message out there, increasing expectations it has to do with the new comeback. The series is scheduled to broadcast its six episodes beginning on Sunday, January 24, 2016, not 7-7-15.
But the buzz is out there.
Does it have anything to do with new X-Files promotional material, or is it a bit deeper than that?
The new installment will reunite Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
As all the news of The X-Files return circulated, so did word come of the upcoming sequel miniseries to the original Twin Peaks television series. The series was announced on October 6, 2014, as a limited series of nine episodes that would premiere on the Showtime cable network in 2016. All scripts were written by original series creators David Lynch and Mark Frost, and Lynch said he would direct, as well. The series was described as revisiting the town of Twin Peaks and its inhabitants twenty-five years after the events of the original series.
On January 12, 2015, it was confirmed that Kyle MacLachlan would reprise the role of Dale Cooper. Four days later, Sheryl Lee and Dana Ashbrook also announced their casting in the 2016 series. They also implied the return of Sherilyn Fenn. Source.
There were rumors that David Duchovny might like to join the Twin Peaks cast too.
David Duchovny, of course, played and will play Special Agent Fox Mulder of the FBI in The X-Files. In the original Twin Peaks Duchovny played
Denise Bryson, formerly Dennis Bryson, a DEA agent who investigates drug allegations against Dale Cooper. Bryson began wearing women's clothing during an undercover operation and found that presenting as a woman made her feel comfortable, revealing that she is a transgender woman. Bryson comes to Twin Peaks when Cooper is accused by the Mounties and the FBI of misfeasance for his handling of the rescue of Audrey Horne from One-Eyed Jack's and the alleged theft of cocaine from an RCMP stakeout. Cooper quickly determines that the "Mountie" accusing him is in fact involved in drug dealing alongside Jean Renault and Hank Jennings. This leads to the stakeout at Dead Dog Farm, during which Denise uses her "feminine side" in order to assist the rescue of Agent Cooper. When required for a sting operation, Bryson dons a man's suit and goes by "Dennis." The character’s binary identity reflects the dualistic leitmotif of the series. Source.
Recent real world news has taken on hints of The X-Files and Twin Peaks.
Nine people were killed Sunday, May 17, 2015, in a shooting among rival motorcycle gang members in Waco, Texas. It would be exactly a month later, on June 17, 2015, that nine would die in Charleston. (See "There's A Storm Coming: Dylann Storm Roof.")
The twilight language unfolding from the May event was deep and dark.
Waco, itself, is steeped in violence and history, of course.
The infamous Waco siege began on February 28, 1993, when the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) attempted to execute a search warrant at the Branch Davidian ranch at Mount Carmel, a property located nine miles east-northeast of Waco, Texas. An exchange of gunfire resulted in the deaths of four agents and six followers of David Koresh (born Vernon Wayne Howell; August 17, 1959 – April 19, 1993).
The subsequent 51-day siege by the Federal Bureau of Investigation ended on April 19th when fire destroyed the Waco compound. Seventy-six people (24 of them British nationals) died in the fire, including more than 20 children, two pregnant women, and Koresh himself.
At which establishment did this new May 17, 2015 violence in Waco occur?
It took place at Twin Peaks, a so-called "breastaurant," like Hooters.
Is there more to this re-birth?

The Hollywood Reporter said that, using social media to its advantage, Fox released via Twitter "the first official image from its highly-anticipated revival. As their television counterparts, a scruffy Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and laid-back Scully (Gillian Anderson) can be seen in the backseat of a green screen-enveloped town car. Chris Carter (I Want To Believe) writer/director also happens to be looking at the monitor." Credit.
David Duchovny has been on television a good deal in 2015. He also starred in Aquarius, about Charles Manson.

7/7/15 is the tenth anniversary of the London bombings.
The 7 July 2005 London bombings (often referred to as 7/7) were a series of coordinated suicide bomb attacks in central London, which targeted civilians using the public transport system during the morning rush hour.
On the morning of Thursday, 7 July 2005, four Islamist men detonated four bombs—three in quick succession aboard London Underground trains across the city and, later, a fourth on a double-decker bus in Tavistock Square. As well as the four bombers, 52 civilians were killed and over 700 more were injured in the attacks, the United Kingdom's worst terrorist incident since the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, as well as the country's first ever suicide attack.
London's 7/7 is linked to New York's 9/11, as far as waking up the public to terrorism.
The explosions were caused by homemade organic peroxide-based devices packed into backpacks. The bombings were followed two weeks later by a series of attempted attacks that failed to cause injury or damage.
The terms 7th July, July 7th, and 7/7 (pronounced "Seven-seven") have been widely used in the Western media as a shorthand for the 7 July 2005 bombings on London's transport system. In the Chinese language, this term is used to denote the Battle of Lugou Bridge started on July 7, 1937, marking the beginning of the Second Sino-Japanese War.
What of 7/7/77? On July 7, 1977, 12,000 Mexican Police occupied the university in Mexico City, Mexico. They entered the campus of the National University because of a union strike, which the government feared would spread across the whole nation.
On July 7, 1865, right after the end of the American Civil War, four conspirators in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln were hanged. They were George Azterodt, Lewis Powell, David Herold, and Mary Surratt, the first woman executed by the United States. (More on these four and the other conspirators can be found here.)
This is the alleged date, July 7, 1947, of the Roswell incident, when there was a supposed crash of an alien spaceship near Roswell in New Mexico. The United States Army Air Forces (and its successor, the U.S. Air Force, after September 1947) covered up the event, according to some ufologists.
The 1994 television movie, Roswell, stars Kyle MacLachlan, Martin Sheen, and Dwight Yoakam. MacLachlan is the lead actor in Twin Peaks.
Perhaps the Roswell anniversary date - part of the mythos of The X-Files - is significant?
