Noblesville: Middle School Shooting and Saluki Hero

A Saluki. Number 91. A hero.

On Friday, May 18, 2018, the Santa Fe High School shooting, leaving 10 dead, occurred. All kinds of syncs were observed.

A week later, on May 25, 2018, another school took place at a middle school (pictured above) in Noblesville, Indiana, leaving three shot.

A suspect - David Moore - was in custody after what Indiana State Police earlier had called an active shooter incident at Noblesville West Middle School.

Noblesville police Chief Kevin Jowitt told reporters that a teacher and a student were taken to hospitals with injuries. But hospital officials said at least three people, including one adult, were being treated. One student had an ankle fracture. 

The teacher injured in the Noblesville West Middle School shooting Friday morning has been identified as Jason Seaman, according to multiple parents interviewed by IndyStar who have children in the school.

Parents also described how Seaman intervened to help stop the shooter.

Seaman has been a science teacher for Noblesville schools for nearly four years, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also has been a football coach for seventh-graders for two years.

Seaman, it turns out, was a defensive lineman for the Salukis, the Southern Illinois University football team. (I too am a Saluki - a product of a higher education in Little Egypt. See #9, here. Congratulations to Seaman for intervening in a positive fashion during this school shooting.)

Jowitt said the shooting was reported shortly after 9 a.m. He said the situation was contained and that a male student was in custody.
"We believe he is the involved suspect," he said.
Jowitt said a secondary threat was received at Noblesville High School.
"We have multiple officers and a command post established at Noblesville High School and are diligently ensuring the safety of students and staff there," he said. "We have not received any information that this has been anything other than a communicated threat."
Aerial news video showed rows of students being evacuated and escorted to school buses.
Students were being taken to Noblesville High, where parents can pick them up, the state police said.

Noblesville was once noted for its flour mills, the mostly widely known of which was the Noblesville Milling Company, producer of Diadem and Kismet flours. In 1925, the manager of the company offered to buy uniforms for the local high school athletic team in exchange for the school adopting the nickname "Millers." The nickname persists to this day.

Noblesville's Weird History

The old Hamilton County Sheriff's Residence and Jail on the southwest corner of the courthouse square in downtown Noblesville, Indiana, is now the home of the Hamilton County Museum of History.

The site use to be a working jail that once housed Charles Manson as a teenager and D. C. Stephenson, former Grand Dragon of the Indiana Ku Klux Klan. The Stephenson trial, which took place in the adjoining Hamilton County courthouse in 1925, broke the power of the Klan in Indiana and drew national attention to Noblesville. Stephenson was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of Madge Oberholtzer. During the early 1920s, Noblesville was one of several Indiana towns in which the Ku Klux Klan was active, but the Klan's influence quickly faded in the wake of Stephenson's conviction.

Then there's the case of Danne D. Buchanan. Known within the Bigfoot community as “SquatchCommando,” Dan Buchanan started in 2007, arguing for a pro-Bigfoot position on an internet radio show, "Let's Talk Bigfoot." SquatchCommando was a Marine Corps veteran who encountered a Bigfoot while on a training mission at Quantico, Virginia. Buchanan was interested in hunting Bigfoot, but he advocated tranquilizing them and taking biological samples. He was not for killing or capturing them, but merely doing what needed to be done to prove they exist.

Buchanan, only 41, was out apparently enjoying some music near Noblesville, Indiana, when he was hit and killed on August 14, 2007, while walking outside the Verizon Wireless Music Center after the Ozzfest concert. That was the sad, quick end of his attempt at finding Bigfoot.

Aurora Name Game Surfaces In Overland Park Shootings

Aurora. Aurora. Aurora.

The goddess of the dawn. 

The name is back to haunt us, now in connection to the Overland Park shootings.

As I detailed after the The Dark Knight Rises deaths in Aurora, Colorado, a new red dawn appeared to be in evidence.

Now, hidden in the name game and lexilinks of the Overland Park, Kansas events, Aurora dawns again.

The shootings at the Jewish-related sites on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2014, resulted in three deaths.

Authorities announced Sunday night that in custody was none other than Frazier Glenn Cross, Jr., 73, who is suspected of fatally shooting a 14-year-old Methodist Eagle Scout and his grandfather in the parking lot at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City campus in Overland Park then gunning down a woman at Village Shalom, a retirement community.

The two identified victims are Dr. William Lewis Corporon and his 14-year-old grandson, Reat Griffin Underwood, both members of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood.

Also known as Frazier Glenn Miller or simply Glenn Miller, he lives in Aurora, Missouri.

The population of the town is about 7500, and it lies in Lawrence County. Between 1911 and 1920, the virulently anti-Catholic newspaper The Menace was published in Aurora by W. F. Phelps and Earl McClure. It achieved a national circulation of over one million, according to the March 1932 issue of American Mercury.

Miller has a long track record of racist and anti-Semitic activities.

Frazier Glenn Miller, Jr. (b. Nov 23, 1940),...is the former leader of the defunct North Carolina-based White Patriot Party (formerly known as the Carolina Knights of the Ku Klux Klan). Convicted of criminal charges related to weapons and violation of an injunction against paramilitary activity, he is a perennial candidate for public office. He is an advocate of white nationalism, white separatism, and anti-Semitic theories; and a critic of homosexuality and Third World immigration into historically White nations.
As a member of the racist hate group, “The Order,” which advocated violence against Jews and African-Americans, Miller was involved in the assassination of Denver, Colorado radio talk show host, Alan Berg, in 1984:
"Ten members of The Order were tried and convicted under Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) statutes, and with the help of the testimony of Frazier Glenn Miller, Jr., who testified against Order members in order to have his own sentence reduced.”

In 1980 Miller founded the White Patriot Party, which developed from the Carolina Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, a local chapter. It was a paramilitary organization with an ideology influenced by the Christian Identity theology. Miller was the leader and principal spokesman for the organization until his arrest in 1987, after which the organization soon dissolved.
After the Southern Poverty Law Center surreptitiously accessed the WPP computer systems, it presented evidence in court indicating the WPP leadership was planning the assassination of SPLC leader Morris Dees. The court issued an injunction barring the WPP, and Miller specifically, from engaging in paramilitary activity. The WPP was avowedly pro-Apartheid, and openly advocated the establishment of an all-White ethnostate in the territory of the American South.
During his time as leader of the WPP, Miller unsuccessfully sought both the Democratic Party's 1984 nomination for Governor of North Carolina, and the 1986 Republican Party's nomination for a seat in the United States Senate.
After going underground, Miller was arrested on April 30, 1987, on numerous Federal criminal charges in the company of three other men (Tony Wydra, Robert "Jack" Jackson, and Douglas Sheets), who were also taken into Federal custody. After his arrest, Miller agreed to testify against several other defendants in a major Federal sedition trial in Arkansas. He served three years (1987-1990) in Federal prison, following his conviction for weapons violations, as well as for violating the injunction proscribing him from engaging in paramilitary activities.

After his release from prison, Miller wrote an autobiography, A White Man Speaks Out, which was privately published in 1999. By 2002 he had moved to Aurora, Missouri. Miller has since become affiliated with the Vanguard News Network of Alex Linder, which is an anti-Semitic, white nationalist website....Miller's [was] interviewed on The Alan Colmes Show and by phone on The Howard Stern Show. Miller was involved in the rally and leadership which resulted in the The Greensboro massacre, which occurred on November 3, 1979 in Greensboro, North Carolina, United States. Five protest marchers were shot and killed, allegedly, by members of either Miller's group, the American Nazi Party, and/or the KKK. While eyewitnesses stated it was a klansman who fired the first shot, Frazier Glenn Miller said the first shots were fired from a handgun by an anti-Klan demonstrator.

But what is the reality behind this man? As Michael Hoffman notes elsewhere and summarizes in the comments section, "Frazier Glenn Miller, the accused shooter, is a former informant for the Federal government having testified for the prosecution in a landmark 1989 'sedition' trial of militiamen, Klansmen and 'Order' members at Ft. Smith, Arkansas."

After Miller moved to Aurora in 2002, he began publishing his paper, The White Patriot Leader. It included articles by Miller, and former KKK leader David Duke, as well as a recommended reading list which included Mein Kampf, and The Turner Diaries, a racist novel that supposedly inspired Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh. 

In 2008, Miller's son, Jesse, was killed in a shootout.

Frazier Glenn Miller, who once went to prison for refusing to shut down his paramilitary White Patriot Party, wrote in a blog post that he doesn't know why his son shot the "white man" who had pulled over to help him after a traffic accident.
But that didn't stop Miller from naming a scapegoat: the Springfield, Mo., Police Department.
The shooting was part of a bizarre string of events on March 28 that began with a car accident and culminated in the death of Miller's son, Jesse. Early that afternoon, an SUV driven by Jesse Miller, 30, hit a pick-up truck in Marionville, Mo. When Joseph M. Rich, 55, stopped to offer assistance, Jesse Miller killed him with a shotgun he had in his vehicle. Soon afterward, a Marionville, Mo., police officer arrived and ordered Miller to put down his weapon. Miller responded by shooting the officer, who then shot Miller dead. The officer, Andy Clark, suffered a non-life threatening shoulder wound. Source.

In 2014, it now appears that Glenn Miller of Aurora, Missouri, visited his violent history upon Overland Park, Kansas.

Who could have imagined that so many strange Fortean topics could be linked to one place? Of course, Janesville has always been a focal point of Fortean interest because of a unique old report from 120 years ago.

Janesville, Wisconsin native Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, a sometime Ayn Rand follower and Tea Party favorite, has been named as Republican Mitt Romney's running mate in the presidential race. And yes, Paul Ryan did drive the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile for a summer job.

USS Wisconsin (BB-64), "Wisky" or "WisKy", is an Iowa-class battleship, the second ship of the United States Navy to be named in honor of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. She was built at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and launched on December 7, 1943 (the second anniversary of the Pearl Harbor raid), sponsored by the wife of Governor of Wisconsin, Walter Goodland.

This happened in the same time period as The Philadelphia Experiment. "The Philadelphia Experiment" is the name of a naval military experiment alleged to have been carried out at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA sometime around October 28, 1943. It is alleged that the U.S. Navy destroyer escort USS Eldridge was to be rendered invisible (or "cloaked") to enemy devices. The experiment is also referred to as Project Rainbow. Even if the story of "The Philadelphia Experiment" is a cover story, misinformation, or a hoax, it serves as a powerful popular cultural artifact known to many political theorists in contemporary literature.

Ryan, as mentioned, was born and raised in the Wisconsin town of Janesville, the youngest child of Elizabeth A. "Betty" (née Hutter) and Paul Murray Ryan, a lawyer.

Janesville was founded in 1835 on the east bank of the Rock River. Named for an early settler, Henry Janes, early development depended on water power from the river and an early territorial road that included the first bridge across the Rock River.

A tree that once stood in downtown Courthouse Park was the site of a lynch mob that hanged a convicted murderer in 1859. In 1992, television journalist Geraldo Rivera was arrested for battery after an altercation during his coverage of a Ku Klux Klan rally in Janesville. 

The Janesville location of a related cross burning in 1992 is now "Peace Park" with a playground and a peace pole, said to be the world's tallest at 52 feet.

In 1994, a white buffalo dubbed Miracle was born at the Heider family farm just outside Janesville. Miracle lived until 2004. She was frequently visited by Native American  ceremonial groups because of sacred symbolism of white buffaloes in many Native American religions. 

Another unrelated white buffalo, named Miracle's Second Chance, was born at the same farm in 2006, but died in a lightning strike later that year, not exactly a good omen.

Besides the bizarre frozen alligator report from 1892 from Janesville mentioned in Lo!, recent years have noted other "out-of-place" gators in the area. 

The Janesville Gazette of Janesville, Wisconsin, for example, reported on October 1, 2007, from southern Wisconsin, that duck hunter... 

Ed Long thought he was shooting at a snapping turtle, but he got a surprise when he pulled his trophy from the Milwaukee River:
It was a 4-foot-long alligator.
When the reptile submerged again, Long fired and stunned it. He called to his cousin, who prodded the 25-pound animal with a stick and then ran when it moved.
"We both thought nobody is going to believe us," Long said. "We made a decision to bring it back dead or alive, and more likely dead."
The animal appeared to have died from a shot to the head. The cousins dragged it to a field and then went to their uncle's home for help bringing it in.
"I'm still just absolutely 100 percent shocked," said Long's uncle, Herb Sagan. "You've got a better chance of shooting a 30-point buck in Wisconsin than a gator."

"I've been a warden for 33 years, and I've never heard of anything like it," Warden Bill Mitchell said.
Long has started calling taxidermy shops about preserving the alligator.
"I'd like to have it mounted," he said. "Or at least get a belt or wallet out of it."
Long, 31, of Greenfield, had been in the river Saturday (September 29, 2007) looking for ducks.
"At first, I thought it was a turtle tail," he said. "The it turned and came back at me. I seen the eyes come out of the water, but my brain didn't click. This is Wisconsin. There's not supposed to be gators in Wisconsin."

In October 2005, police in the village of Theresa shot a 2- to 3-foot alligator that was sunning itself on a bank along the Rock River.

In December 2011, a 1.5 ft alligator was recovered from the Rock River just across the Illinois border from Rock County, in Winnebago County.
