Egyptian Palm Sunday: 45+ killed

A bomb blast at a church north of Cairo killed 27+ people and wounded 100 or more who had gathered for Palm Sunday mass, state media reported, in the latest apparent attack on Egypt's Coptic Christians.

One of two known blasts struck at a Coptic Church in the Nile Delta City of Tanta, 75 miles north of Cairo. The other in Alexandria killed 16+. Some sources claim at least 45 were killed as a total for both attacks.

Palm Sunday is one of the holiest days of the Christian calendar, marking the triumphant entrance of Jesus to Jerusalem. It is celebrated by the Coptic Church, as well as in the West.

The state-run Nile television channel said the explosion struck inside the Mar Girgis Coptic Church in Tanta just before 10:00am (0800 GMT).

"Either a bomb was planted or someone blew himself up," provincial governor Ahmad Deif said, adding that security forces had searched the church and surrounding areas for additional explosive devices.

Tanta, in some languages, means "too much," "way too much."

There are reports of a second blast outside a church in Alexandria, also in Egypt, with at least 16 dead with 66 injured. In the Alexandria blast, a suicide bomber approached the church and detonated his vest after being stopped by police. Three officers died after they prevented the killer from getting into the church and causing greater bloodshed.

CCTV shows the fanatic, dressed in a blue pullover, approaching the gate at St Mark's in Alexandria but being told to go through the metal detector first by officers. He then passes a female police officer talking to another woman, and enters a metal detector before an explosion engulfs the area.

The atrocity, which followed another attack in Tanta, was thought to have been aimed at Pope Tawadros II, leader of the ancient Coptic church, who was worshipping in St Mark's at the time but escaped unharmed.

Now, it appears obvious, after the USA attack against Syria, American church bodies and other gatherings will be on high alert for potential Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.

ISIS Is Terrible At Geography

It is being widely reported on July 26, 2016 that ISIS has warned that their next attacks will be on London and Washington, D.C.

Only problem is that ISIS does not seem to know where Washington, D.C. is and what structures exist there.

As the media is noting,

One picture chillingly shows New York’s Statue of Liberty engulfed in flames but with the caption “Washington soon” - referring to the US capital 225 miles away.

Star Wars Alerts, Incidents, and Security

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened widely on Friday, December 18, 2015. The film had limited showings earlier in the week, and some events have caused alarm.

Even before the new Star Wars movie was nationally released in the US, the widest, most discussed level of theater security every reported has been noted by the media. Some theaters installed metal detectors, banned backpacks and costumes, and allowed patrons with nothing more than lightsabers to cos-play. In the wake of the Aurora theater shooting of 2012, the Lafayette movie shooting in July 2015, the attack at a performing venue in Paris a few months ago, and the San Bernardino terrorist shootings of last month, the Star Wars movie was considered a major target for trouble.

There seems to have been some, but the media appears to have quieted what is really occurring. And the security is high.

There have been hints of a few instances that have bothered theater owners this week.

In an incident Wednesday night [December 16, 2015], two men in their 20s who were “Middle Eastern in appearance” and “spoke with a heavy foreign accent” entered a theater inside a mall in Tempe, Arizona, without tickets, and one of the men began recording video of the theater with his cellphone “in one slow swooping motion,” according to documentation of the incident obtained by Deadline. When asked what they were doing by theater security, the men replied they had “just wanted to see the restaurant,” pointing to the concession stand, and then exited the theater to a patio, where both men made phone calls.
In a separate incident last week, a man reportedly drove up to a theater in Southern California and began asking suspicious questions including, “When are the most people here?” and “How crowded is it going to be this weekend?” before driving off in a car with no license plates. A second man reportedly drove up to the theater and asked similar questions, before again driving off in a car with no plates. ~ Source.

The National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) then sent a notice out to its members about these suspicious incidents, on Thursday, December 17, 2015, to be alert, aware, and heightened security.

One film buyer who has the film booked on the majority of their screens said they have five security guards employed at each theater. “We’ve hired security at every location to be safe,” the buyer said. “We will have five (guards) posted and reserve the right to check (customers’) bags. We will not let anyone walk in with a backpack or anything larger than a purse, and whatever they are carrying will be checked.” ~ Deadline. 

The incidents continued Thursday, December 17, 2015:

Hundreds of moviegoers were briefly evacuated from the Pacific Theatres at the Grove in Fairfax on Thursday evening. The evacuation occurred after a fire alarm was triggered inside the building, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section. There was no threat to the theater or "anything else of that nature," she said.Several disgruntled movie fans took to Twitter and Instagram after the incident, which prompted a response from the Los Angeles Fire Department.Showings of the much-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens were interrupted, according to witnesses."As soon as the previews were over and the movie was about to start -- fire alarm. They evacuated the whole building," said an exasperated Andrew Gouch, adding that he had purchased his Star Wars tickets two months in advance."My kids want to still sit in there but … I don't know," he said. "I don't drink; I may start."The screenings resumed after firefighters determined that no fire had occurred and the building was safe. ~ Source.

A more serious threat occurred on Friday, December 18, 2015:

A showing of the new Star Wars movie was interrupted Friday in New Jersey after a theater was abruptly evacuated during the show. Friday night, police in Freehold Township announced that they had arrested a Middletown man and charged him with making a pair of bomb threats at the AMC Theater.
22-year-old Jesse Carroll of Middletown is charged with two counts of second degree Public False Alarm. He is currently being held in the Monmouth County Correction Institution on $200,000 bail with no 10% option.
On Monday evening, Dec. 14, and again on Friday afternoon, Dec. 18, notes were found in the men's room of the movie complex containing threats to either the theater management or specific threats of bombs inside the theater. One note on Friday afternoon read: "I'm coming for blood; 4pm bomb, 6pm empty mag in guests." ~ Source.

How widespread are these security measures? As of December 17, 2015, Disney (who owns the Star Wars franchise after George Lucas and Lucasfilms sold it to them) ceased the sales, display or brandishing of Star Wars blasters and any other type of toy guns as part of enhanced security policies.

There are also new metal detectors at the entrance of California's Disneyland and Florida’s Disney World. Furthermore, there is now a ban on individuals over the age of 14 wearing costumes or masks on the properties. Similar measures are going in place at Universal theme parks across the nation, reportedly. Random more extensive checks will now occur too, in addition to the bag checks that have been taking place at the parks for years.

Predictions, prevention and preparedness appear to be working.  Sometimes paranoid is really total awareness.

Will ISIS Attempt A Red Dawn?

Will December 18, 2015 be a new Colorado Aurora (which translates, literally, into Red Dawn‬), when Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens?

French Factory Beheading, St. Bartholomew, and His 9/11 Martyrdom

The Apostle of Jesus, Bartholomew, being beheaded and flayed. A new beheading has occurred in an area of France associated historically with the Massacre de la Saint-Barthélemy/St. Bartholomew's Day massacre. Is it a coincidence that St. Bartholomew's martyrdom is commemorated every September 11th?

Individuals with an ISIS flag attacked a French factory and have beheaded one person. Late reports say the ISIS flag was raised over the factory.

According to the Associated Press, an official said two attackers arrived by car at the factory, bearing banners written in Arabic, set off an explosion, and then one attacker was arrested.

There are reports of several more victims.
One man died and around a dozen are thought to have been injured at the scene in the town of Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, around 20 miles from the city of Lyon.

An attack at a US gas factory, Air Products, which produce air canisters, in France has left one decapitated in a possible terrorist attack, with the victim's head found impaled on a fence nearby, according to locals.

French authorities have launched a terrorism investigation after the beheaded body was found at the factory, along with a flag bearing Islamist inscriptions. One person was taken into custody, and there are reports a search is on for more.

It is claimed that Arabic writing was found on the head, and French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve is now heading to the site.

The men entered the factory area disguised as deliverymen.

Two tourist hotels in the Tunisian town of Sousse have been attacked on June 26, 2015, and 38 people (30 British nationals) were killed, the Interior Ministry said. Tunisia has been on high alert since March when Islamist militant gunmen attacked the Bardo museum in Tunis, killing a group of foreign tourists in one of the worst attacks in a decade in the North African country. One gunman was responsible.

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has claimed on Friday, June 26, 2015, the deadly bombing on a Kuwaiti mosque, which left at least 25 people killed. An ISIS statement posted on social media identified the bomber as Abu Suleiman al-Muwahed and said the target was a “temple of the rejectionists” - a term used by the Islamist militant group to refer to Shiite Muslims - and said dozens were killed or wounded...ISIS has claimed responsibility for bombings at two different Shiite mosques in Saudi Arabia in recent weeks. However, Friday’s attack is the first such bombing targeting Kuwaiti Shiites, who make up around one-third of the country’s native population of 1.3 million people. A witness said the bombing happened when the mosque was packed with some 2,000 worshippers during Friday prayers.

French Attack Background:

Saint-Quentin-Fallavier is a commune in the Isère department in southeastern France. It is located about 51 km from Grenoble, so it is rather strange that this event is being characterized as the "Grenoble Beheading" by some media outlets. Grenoble is often called the "Capital of the Alps," and relatively far away from Saint-Quentin-Fallavier.

Saint-Quentin-Fallavier is only miles/kilometers away from Lyons, and on the outskirts of that city.

According to the historian Dio Cassius, in 43 BC, the Roman Senate ordered Munatius Plancus and Lepidus, lieutenants of the assassinated Julius Caesar and governors of central and Transalpine Gaul respectively, to found a city for a group of Roman refugees. These refugees had been expelled from Vienne (a town about 30 km to the south) by the Allobroges and were now encamped at the confluence of the Saône and Rhône rivers. Dio Cassius says this task was to keep the two men from joining Mark Antony and bringing their armies into the developing conflict. The Roman foundation was at Fourvière hill and was officially called Colonia Copia Felix Munatia, a name invoking prosperity and the blessing of the gods. The city became increasingly referred to as Lugdunum (and occasionally Lugudunum). The earliest translation of this Gaulish place-name as "Desired Mountain" is offered by the 9th-century Endlicher Glossary. In contrast, some modern scholars have proposed a Gaulish hill-fort named Lug[o]dunon, after the Celtic god Lugus ('Light', cognate with Old Irish Lugh, Modern Irish Lú) and dúnon (hill-fort).

In 1572, Lyon was a scene of mass violence by Catholics against Protestant Huguenots in the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacres.

Talk about a Red Wedding...

The St. Bartholomew's Day massacre (Massacre de la Saint-Barthélemy in French) in 1572 was a targeted group of assassinations, followed by a wave of Catholic mob violence, both directed against the Huguenots (French Calvinist Protestants), during the French Wars of Religion. Traditionally believed to have been instigated by Catherine de' Medici, the mother of King Charles IX, the massacre took place five days after the wedding of the king's sister Margaret to the Protestant Henry III of Navarre (the future Henry IV of France). This marriage was an occasion for which many of the most wealthy and prominent Huguenots had gathered in largely Catholic Paris.

The massacre began in the night of 23–24 August 1572 (the eve of the feast of Bartholomew the Apostle), two days after the attempted assassination of Admiral Gaspard de Coligny, the military and political leader of the Huguenots. The king ordered the killing of a group of Huguenot leaders, including Coligny, and the slaughter spread throughout Paris. Lasting several weeks, the massacre expanded outward to other urban centres and the countryside. Modern estimates for the number of dead across France vary widely, from 5,000 to 30,000. 

Among the slain were the philosopher Petrus Ramus, and in Lyon the composer Claude Goudimel. The corpses floating down the Rhone from Lyons are said to have put the people of Arles off drinking the water for three months.

The Politiques were horrified but many Catholics inside and outside France regarded the massacres, at least initially, as deliverance from an imminent Huguenot coup d'etat. The severed head of Coligny was apparently dispatched to Pope Gregory XIII, though it got no further than Lyons, and Pope Gregory XIII sent the king a Golden Rose.

Bartholomew (Greek: Βαρθολομαῖος Bartholomaíos, Latin: Bartholomaus) was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He has been identified with Nathanael (alternatively spelled Nathaniel), who appears in the Gospel according to John as being introduced to Christ by Philip (who would also become an apostle), [Jn 1:43-51] although most modern commentators reject the identification of Nathanael with Bartholomew.

Bartholomew beheaded and flayed....

Christian tradition has three stories about Bartholomew's death: "One speaks of his being kidnapped, beaten unconscious, and cast into the sea to drown. Another account states that he was crucified upside down, and another says that he was skinned alive and beheaded in Albac or Albanopolis", near Başkale, Turkey.

It is intriguing to note that in Islamic literature, the Qur'an mentions Jesus's disciples but does not give their names, referring to them as "helpers to the work of God." Muslim exegesis and Qur'an commentary, however, names them and includes Bartholomew amongst the disciples.

9/11 again...

According to the Synaxarium of the Coptic Orthodox Church, his martyrdom is commemorated on the 1st day of the Coptic Calendar (1st day of the month of "Thout"), which currently falls on September 11 (corresponding to August 29 in the Gregorian Calendar). His feast is June 11 in Eastern Christianity and August 24 in the Anglican Communion and both forms of the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church.

TransAsia Flight 235, MH17 and Other 17s

At the beginning of the day, February 4, 2015, 17 people were missing in the crash of TransAsia Flight 235 into a bridge over Taiwan's Keelung River. By the end of the day, the final death toll may be 34 (2x17) people.

Unlucky number 17
The number 17 is considered unlucky in Italy so most Italian-owned ships avoid it. MSC Cruises doesn't have a cabin 17 or deck 17 on any ships across fleet. Why? The Roman numeral XVII is changed anagrammatically to VIXI, which in Latin translates to "I have lived". In other words: "My life is over". For the same reason you can bet that the Chinese won't be booking any cabins on decks four, or nine. Source.

Peter Edward Kassig Beheaded by ISIS

CNN is reporting that, "in a video published to the Internet on Sunday [November 16, 2014], purportedly from terror group ISIS, militants claim to have beheaded American hostage Peter [Edward] Kassig."

According to a TIME article from January 2013, Kassig was running an NGO out of Beirut, Lebanon, after returning there (originally on spring break from Butler University in ). Called SERA, it stands for Special Emergency Response and Assistance, and delivers food and aid to those in Syrian refugee camps.
...
Kassig [was] an Army Ranger who deployed to Iraq in 2007. He joined the Army Rangers in 2006, and was honorably discharged for medical reasons after a brief tour. In an interview with Syria Deeply, Kassig said that he rejected the chance to train rebels in military tactics. Source.

Kassig, 26. changed his first name to Abdul Rahman after becoming a Muslim while in captivity.

The meaning of Abdul literally and normally means "Slave of the," but English translations also often translate it to: "Servant of the."

Rahman (Arabic: رحمان‎, Raḥmān) is an Arabic male name. It is the elative of Raḥim, based on the triconsonantal root R-Ḥ-M. In Islam, the name ar-Raḥmān, meaning "The Beneficent, The Most Merciful in Essence, The Compassionate, The Most Gracious" is considered most special of the Names of God in Islam. Rahman can be short for Abdur Rahman "servant of al-Rahman"; i.e. "servant of God". With nisba, the name becomes Rahmani and is used as a surname.

Kassig/Rahman is the 5th Westerners to be beheaded in this current cycle of ISIS murders.

Peter Kassig's middle name is Edward.

On November 16, 1272, while travelling during the Ninth Crusade, Prince Edward becomes King of England upon Henry III of England's death, but he will not return to England for nearly two years to assume the throne.

Moore and More Beheadings

A man has beheaded a woman, Colleen Hufford, 54, after a workplace dispute in Moore, Oklahoma, U.S. law enforcement officials told CNN on September 26, 2014. The suspect also tried to kill another woman.

The suspect reportedly worked at Vaugan Foods in Moore and had been trying to convert his co-workers to Islam. The FBI is actively investigating the case. KFOR reports that the Feds are targeting the religious elements of the case.

The incident happened late Thursday afternoon, at 4:15 pm, September 25, 2014, at a Vaughan Foods processing plant at 216 NE 12th St # A in Moore, in Cleveland County, which is located about 10 miles south of Oklahoma City. The plant is located between a railroad trackway and Messenger Road.

There were no immediate indications of a link to terrorism, officials said.

A sheriff's deputy shot the suspect, identified by officials as 30-year-old Alton Alexander Nolen (shown above). Nolen was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Nolen was shot and subdued by an off-duty Oklahoma County reserve deputy, Mark Vaughan, who was working security at Vaughan Foods.

Nolen has ties to the Bell meme:

In 2009, court records indicate that Nolen (born August 16, 1984) living in Idabel, Oklahoma. Formerly, the post office there had been named was called Bokhoma (Choctaw for "Red River"), when opened on December 15, 1902. Railroad officials then chose the name Idabel, a compound of the names of Isaac Purnell's two daughters, Ida and Bell. The post office was then renamed Idabel. (H/T to BT.)

His criminal records also note he may have attended the traditional black college of Langston University, which is located in Logan County, Oklahoma. Two of his felonies were of selling pot in Logan County, in or near Langston, Oklahoma. I talked about the Logan name in July.

More and more beheadings appear to be in store for the West's immediate future.

The Moore beheading followed the release on September 23, 2014, of a new ISIS related beheading video.

French tourist Hervé Gourdel was beheaded by Algerian militant group Jund al-Khilafa following his abduction in the north-east Kabylie region. He was a 55-year-old qualified mountain guide.

A few sites have identified Gourdel's shirt as an Illuminati pyramid t-shirt. No confirmation of that fact has been made.

Hervé Gourdel was captured by the Islamist ISIS-aligned group while hiking in the Djurdjura National Park on Sunday, one day after he arrived for a 10-day walking holiday. The park is located in Kabylie and is named after the Djurdjura Range of the Tell Atlas, Algeria. The Roman Empire used to call it Iron mountain in Latin (Montus Ferratus). The name Djurdjura is also used for the villages located in this mountain chain. Mmis n'Djerdjer means "children of the Djurdjura," which is a Kabyle word referring to mountain inhabitants; there is also a Kabyle female group called DjurDjura.

Ancient reports of a tribe of Amazons in Libya may be related to this Algerian female group.

According to several historical records, the Libyan birthplace of the Goddess Neith was also the traditional homeland of the warrior women known as the Libyan Amazons, in the western parts of Libya, particularly around the legendary Lake Tritonis (southern Tunisia today). The etymology of the name "Amazon" is still undecided, with European enthusiasts deriving the name from Greek Muse, and Berberists linking it with Amazigh and Tamezyant. Source.

Iraqi TV: Satan with a Pitchfork, ISIS, and The Joker

What are we to make of this?

Al-Iraqiyya TV recently aired a promo announcing a soon-to-come anti-ISIS satirical series. The series, called "The Superstitious State" - a play on the words "khilafa" ("caliphate") and "khirafa" ("superstition") – features an assortment of colorful characters, including a red-clad devil with a pitchfork, whose union with a Jewess - wearing a large Star of David - begets an "ISIS-ling" in the form of Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, hatched from an egg. Other characters in the cast include Sheikha Mozah, wife of the former Emir of Qatar, a gun-toting, grog-swigging American cowboy, the Joker from Batman, Dracula, and a character presumably representing Stalin. The promo was broadcast on the Iraqi TV channel on September 9, and is being shown several times a day since. September 14, 2014.

The line between Joseph Stalin (Iosif Vissarionovich Stalin; 1878 – 1953) and Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti (1937-2006) is thin in terms of appearance.

 

Tridents, Pitchforks, and Satan in the News

"We will follow them to the gates of Hell until they are brought to justice. Because Hell is where they will reside. Hell is where they will reside," Vice President Joseph Biden speaking about ISIS on September 3, 2014, at the Portsmouth Naval Yard, New Hampshire. Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is one of four remaining naval shipyards in the nation, and is capable of docking all active classes of submarines including the Los Angeles, Trident and Virginia classes.

When is a trident really a pitchfork?

A trident is a three-pronged spear, used for spear fishing and historically as a polearm. The trident is the weapon of Poseidon, or Neptune, the god of the sea in classical mythology. In Hindu mythology it is the weapon of Shiva, known as trishula (Sanskrit for "triple-spear"). Parallel to its fishing origins, the trident is associated with Poseidon, the god of the sea in Greek mythology, the Roman god Neptune, and Shiva, a Hindu God who holds a trident in his hand. In Hindu legends and stories, Shiva uses this sacred weapon to fight off negativity in the form of evil villains. The trident represents the deity in his three aspects of creator, preserver and destroyer.

A pitchfork is an agricultural tool with a long handle and long, thick, widely separated pointed tines (also called prongs) used to lift and pitch (throw) loose material, such as hay, straw or leaves. Pitchforks typically have only two, three or four tines. The three-pronged pitchfork has grown to be associated with the Devil or Satan. The pitchfork is often used in satire of Christian demonology in popular media, especially in early humorous cartoons where a popular joke was a caricature of an angel and a pitchfork-wielding devil sitting on the opposite shoulders of the conflicted protagonist. The "pitchfork" of Satan looks remarkably like a trident. One has merged with the other.

Author Chris Woodyard's research on Herman Menz and his carved stone Devil of
Detroit (see above) has revealed a trident on the monument, although it was called the "big ugly fork" in the original news story. Woodyard has a new look at this Devil and others here.

Speaking of Detroit, the site of "Devil's Night" every October 30th, it is directly in the news in conjunction with Satan's followers coming to that city.

The Satanic Temple, a New-York-based religious group, announced on September 7, 2014, it wants to build its first chapter house in Detroit, Michigan, where it will perform services such as marriages and funerals. It noted the sacrificing of babies, humans and animals will not take place.

This is the same group that caused a stir when it said it wanted to erect a seven-foot tall statue of Satan near the Ten Commandments monument at the Oklahoma State Capitol.  The proposed image (see above) of the statue suggested that the Temple wanted to depict Satan as a goat-headed Baphoment figure with a long beard, horns, and wings, with a pentagram design placed overhead. Two smiling children would be placed on both sides of the statue. Early reports of a Black Mass in Oklahoma also circulated. The plans for the Black Mass appear to be on a fast track.

However, the group’s leaders say they do not worship Satan. “We believe in a metaphorical, literary construct of Satan,” a Temple leader said. “He’s a symbol for rebellion, a symbol of human nature, the thirst for knowledge.”

Meanwhile, across the continent, in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Devil made a very dramatic appearance in that city on Tuesday morning, September 9, 2014. The Devil was placed on a location that had formerly held a statue of Christopher Columbus.

The 9-foot-tall statue - please note, was left on 9/9 - thus 666 (upside down) - was a representation of Satan, Lucifer or the Devil, complete with red skin, a pointed tail and horns atop his head. The statue also holds one hand up in a devil-horn salute familiar to heavy metal fans the world over. It also sported an enormous erect penis.

The last detail caused headline writers to have a field day, from "Naked devil statue erected near SkyTrain line" to "NSFW Satan statue erected (and taken down) in East Vancouver" to "City crews remove satan statue erected alongside busy Vancouver roadway."

"I'm going to have nightmares tonight," said one city worker who removed it around 3:15 p.m. PT.

All of this news of Satan exist closely in time with the bizarre death of Sarah Bean, who was killed when a gargoyle was beheaded by a piece of metal and then the gargoyle's head hit her directly on her head. She died in front of Chicago's Second Presbyterian Church, on September 4, 2014.

And speaking of a beheading...

Back to ISIS/ISIL, for a moment, as "Satan" is part of their justification for their campaign of terror and beheadings. And I mean more than the old "Americans are Satan" line. Members of the Yazidi religion, one of Iraq’s oldest minorities, are in the midst of a genocide by ISIS. Gruesome images of brutally slain people have emerged in recent weeks, as local officials say that at least 500 Yazidis, including 40 children, have been killed in northern Iraqi.

What is ISIS's reasoning for targeting the Yazidis?

As the Guardian reported in August 2014,

At the core of the Yazidis’ marginalization is their worship of a fallen angel, Melek Tawwus, or Peacock Angel, one of the seven angels that take primacy in their beliefs. Unlike the fall from grace of Satan, in the Judeo-Christian tradition, Melek Tawwus was forgiven and returned to heaven by God. The importance of Melek Tawwus to the Yazidis has given them an undeserved reputation for being devil-worshippers – a notoriety that, in the climate of extremism gripping Iraq, has turned life-threatening.

Representations, such as this one above, of the Kurdistan Yazidis’ Melek Tawwus or Melek Taus can have a trident-like appearance. It is a familiar image from The Exorcist movies, an overlap with the same region's Assyrian demon Pazuzu. To the Yazidis, Melek Taus is an angel; to ISIS, Melek Taus is Satan. It is the difference between life and death in modern day Iraq.

UPDATE: Conservative blogger Matt Drudge took an image from President Obama's 9/10 speech about confronting ISIL.

"We cannot erase every trace of evil from the world, and small groups of killers have the capacity to do great harm. That was the case before 9/11, and that remains true today." - President Obama, 9/10/2014

Drudge posted the 9/10 image to his blog on 9/11 with the caption "Photos Capture Obama's Head of Horns."

Needless to say, I have to point out it looks like a trident.

Of course, the real question is why would anyone wish to photoshop the real image - there are no drapes that low behind the president (see here) to make President Obama look like the Devil?
