London Bridge & Hague 2019 Incidents

November 29th is the anniversary of the Partition Plan of November 29, 1947, when The United Nations General Assembly approved a plan for the partition of Palestine.

2019 Incident

London Bridge

On this date in 2019, a "major incident" has taken place on the London Bridge. Reports indicate a number of people are believed to have been injured after a stabbing at London Bridge, police have said. One account says five have died ~ although this is totally unconfirmed.

The Met Police said they were called to a stabbing at a premises near the bridge just before 14:00 local time. They have declared this a "terrorist incident."

The force said it had killed a suspect, a man. The male killed was convicted terrorist Usman Khan, 28. Two citizens of London were killed.

London Ambulance Service has declared a "major incident". British Transport Police said London Bridge station was currently closed and no trains would be stopping there.

Police have advised people near the scene to follow directions from officers on the ground.

The prime minister tweeted he was being updated on the incident and wanted to thank police and all emergency services for their response.

Home Secretary Priti Patel also tweeted that she was "very concerned" about the incident.

The suspect had a "hoax" bomb jacket on his body.

Heroes credited were tour guide Thomas Gray, 24; Fishmongers' Hall chef Luckasz originally from Poland; convicted murderer James Ford out on day release; and other Small Car Big City tour guide Stevie Hurst.

Fishmongers' Hall was hosting a prisoner rehabilitation conference organised by the Institute of Criminology at Cambridge University. Usman Khan, who had on an ankle tracking bracelet, was attending the conference and a speaker.
The Narwhal Tusk

Polish chef Luckasz at the Fishmongers' Hall took a narwhal tusk off the wall to fight the London Bridge attacker. He is quite visible in photographs and videos of the incident. Source.

The narwhal (Monodon monoceros), or narwhale, is a medium-sized toothed whale that possesses a large "tusk" from a protruding canine tooth. It lives year-round in the Arctic waters around Greenland, Canada, and Russia. It is one of two living species of whale in the family Monodontidae, along with the beluga whale. The narwhal males are distinguished by a long, straight, helical tusk, which is an elongated upper left canine. The narwhal was one of many species described by Carl Linnaeus in his publication Systema Naturae in 1758.

Its name is derived from the Old Norse word nár, meaning "corpse", in reference to the animal's greyish, mottled pigmentation, like that of a drowned sailor and its summer-time habit of lying still at or near the surface of the sea (called "logging").

In Inuit legend, the narwhal's tusk was created when a woman with a harpoon rope tied around her waist was dragged into the ocean after the harpoon had struck a large narwhal. She was transformed into a narwhal, and her hair, which she was wearing in a twisted knot, became the characteristic spiral narwhal tusk.

Some medieval Europeans believed narwhal tusks to be the horns from the legendary unicorn. As these horns were considered to have magic powers, such as neutralising poison and curing melancholia, Vikings and other northern traders were able to sell them for many times their weight in gold.

The Hague

Then in the afternoon of Friday, November 29, 2019, several people were injured during a stabbing attack at a busy shopping district in the Netherlands, Dutch police said. It was the traditional "Black Friday" shopping day. There appears to be no terrorist connection in this incident.

At least three people were injured in the attack in The Hague, near the town’s historic center, Dutch police said. The suspect is still at large, officials said.

In a statement, Hague police said they were seeking a man aged 45-50 and described him using a Dutch term often applied to people of North African descent.

The attack came hours after a terrorist armed with a knife killed two pedestrians at the London Bridge. That suspect was shot dead by London cops.

2017 Incident

March 22, 2017 was the first anniversary of the 2016 terrorist attack in Brussels. Three suicide bombers killed 32 people and injured 316 in the 2016 Brussels bombings at the airport and at the Maelbeek/Maalbeek metro station.

Previously on March 22, in 2004, Ahmed Yassin, co-founder and leader of the Palestinian Sunni Islamist group Hamas, two bodyguards, and nine civilian bystanders are killed in the Gaza Strip when hit by Israeli Air Force Hellfire missiles.

On 22-3-17 in the U.K., at about 2:40 (2:37?) pm local time, a terrorist incident occurred. A woman was killed on Westminster Bridge in central London in what police are treating as a terrorist incident. Reportedly a police officer has died too. Five people are reported to have died. At least 40 people have been injured, some severely

Seven Sisters + Champs-Elysees Attacks

The Seven Sisters in London, 1830.

One man died and 10 people were injured after a van was rammed into a crowd of worshipers on Seven Sisters Road, near a mosque in north London, in the latest terror attack to hit the UK in 2017.

Eyewitnesses reported chaotic scenes as the incident unfolded just after midnight local time, on June 19, 2017, when evening Ramadan prayers had finished.

A 48-year-old white man was wrestled to the ground by members of the public and then arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. He was yelling, "All Muslims must be killed."

The "Seven Sisters" after which the road is named were seven trees located opposite its junction with Tottenham High Road. This is made clear in the legislation authorising its construction, where the route of the road was described as running:

...from the Stamford Hill Road in the Parish of Tottenham , in the said County of Middlesex, nearly opposite to certain Trees called the Seven Sisters.

In his early seventeenth-century work, Brief Description of Tottenham, local vicar and historian William Bedwell singled out the walnut tree for particular mention. He wrote of it as a local 'arboreal wonder' which 'flourished without growing bigger'. He described it as popularly associated with the burning of an unknown Protestant. There is also speculation that the tree was ancient, possibly going back as far as Roman times, perhaps standing in a sacred grove or pagan place of worship.

The location of the seven trees can be tracked through a series of maps from 1619 on. From 1619 they are shown in a position which today corresponds with the western tip of Page Green at the junction of Broad Lane and the High Road. With urbanisation radically changing the area, the 'Seven Sisters' had been replanted by 1876, still on Page Green, but further to the east. Contemporary maps show them remaining in this new location until 1955.

The current ring of hornbeam trees was planted in 1997 in a ceremony led by five families of seven sisters.

The Seven Sisters Road is also traditionally the road between Highbury and White Hart Lane, the football grounds of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs are known as the Yids, because of their supposed Jewish tendencies.
Arsenal were rumoured, and reported in the tabloid press, to have been Osama bin Laden's team during his time in England.
Arsenal purchased the ground Highbury was built on from the Church of England. The then-chairman of Arsenal, Sir Henry Norris, was also archdeacon of the Unified Grand Lodge of England.
The nearest tube station is also named "Arsenal". There is also an old film called "The Arsenal Stadium Mystery". Black and white.
Arsenal have been involved in several scandals. Norris, mentioned above, was banned from involvement in football for making illegal payments, after also allegedly conspiring to get Arsenal voted into the top flight. ~ Stephen Morgan

Meanwhile in Paris...

An armed man who deliberately rammed his car into a police van in Paris on Monday, 19 June 2017, has been taken down by officers and is dead, French authorities said.

The incident took place on the iconic Champs-Elysees boulevard in central Paris, the latest attack this year against security forces in the French capital.

Gerard Collomb, France's interior minister, told reporters the attacker's car contained weapons and explosives.

"Enough to allow him to blow up this car," Collomb said.

No police officers or passersby were wounded, an Interior Ministry spokesman said.

The small white car caught on fire after the collision with the mobile police unit.

It's the fifth time in four months that security forces have been attacked in Paris.

Some unconfirmed reports note the man is a well-known figure in the right-wing.

2017 London Attack

The police officer was stabbed in the nearby Houses of Parliament by an attacker, who was shot by police.

It appears to have begun with a vehicle ramming on the Bridge, striking several pedestrians as he drove a car across the bridge, before crashing it into railings.

A doctor at St Thomas' Hospital said a number of other people were hurt - some with "catastrophic" injuries.

A combination of a ramming, stabbings, and shootings occurred. The scene is unfolding, and it is unclear what form of terrorism was thrown at Parliament. There are even reports of a body in the Thames. Breaking news notes that a woman has been recovered (alive) from the river.

3/11's Anticipated Attack on Emerald City?

An attack on the Seattle Space Needle on March 11, 2017?

As many of you may know, the Interweb, especially some conspiracy sites, are filled with "311" and "3/11" signs, including "3/11/17" attacks being predicted for Seattle, Las Vegas, or London. Variants on the theme have foreseen a terrorist event, a false flag incident, or an earthquake/tsunami happening on Saturday, March 11, 2017.

The "false flag" tone and anti-Semitism claims underlying some of the "predictions" should alert us that various groups may use this timing as a smokescreen to action, misguided as it may be.

There has been talk of Judaism in this event because: Purim 2017 will start the evening of Saturday March 11 and will end the evening of Sunday March 12.

So who is the mysterious flayed man? According to NBC, the character is credited as Roquat, and a quick perusal of Baum's Oz lore will reveal that he isn't an original creation for the TV show — in fact, while The Wicked Witch Of The West may be Baum's most famous villain courtesy of Margaret Hamilton's iconic performance, Roquat is Baum's most significant and recurring villain throughout his many Oz books.

Bellingham's Ramming: Bell Name Game Again

After rammings in Heilelberg and New Orleans, there has been another. On Sunday, February 26, 2017, a car ramming took place in London.

At about 8:20 am on Sunday, February 26, 2017, a car rammed into pedestrians on Bromley Road, Bellingham, southeast London. Five people have been injured, with at least one person trapped under the vehicle at the site.

Allegedly, the driver reportedly lost control and crashed into the group of pedestrians before hitting a wall.

The driver was detained at the scene by an off duty police officer before being arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The road remains closed as investigations are carried out.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said:

Five people - four men and a woman, believed to be aged between 25 and 46 years - were treated at the scene before being taken to south and east London hospitals.
Three of the pedestrians - a 35-year-old woman and two 25-year-old men remain in a critical condition.
Two other men, aged 36 and 46 are in a stable condition; their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The driver of the car was detained at the scene by an off-duty police officer before being arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He was also arrested on suspicion of drink drive before being taken to a south London hospital with a head injury.

The crash happened opposite a car wash outside Catford bus garage.

Photos posted online show a Mercedes sedan that appears to have come off the road and rammed into the end of a hedge, its hood and trunk popped open by the impact. 

Bellingham, U.K.

Bellingham is an area of southeast London, Within the London Borough of Lewisham. It lies south of Lewisham and north of Beckenham.
The Bellingham Estate is an London County Council cottage estate bordered to the east and west by railway lines running south from Catford. Along the south it is bordered by Southend Lane, the A2218 main road. The River Ravensbourne runs through Bellingham, although it is either underground or part of a man-made section of the river. The Prime Meridian passes to the east of Bellingham.

Bell Green

Bell Green is an area in the London Borough of Lewisham, between Perry Vale and Bellingham. The area was historically known for its gas works and the poverty of the local workers, in what Charles Booth called "the one really poor district in this quarter of London." The gasworks closed in 1968 and the whole area redeveloped; it is best known today for the eponymous retail park. Source.

Bell Name Game, Again

Are we seeing a bit of the The Name Game this weekend? Should we watch what monikers come our way through Tuesday, Mardi Gras?

In Jim Brandon's 1983 book, The Rebirth of Pan: Hidden Faces of the American Earth Spirit, he writes, regarding the "name game":

I'm not talking here of such spooky tongue-twisters as H.P. Lovecraft's Yog-Sothoth or Arthur Machen's Ishakshar, but of quite ordinary names like Bell, Beall and variants, Crowley, Francis, Grafton, Grubb, Magee/McGee, Mason, McKinney, Montpelier, Parsons, Pike, Shelby, Vernon, Watson/Watt, Williams/Williamson. I have others on file, but these are the ones which I have accumulated the most instances.

Besides detailing the Fayette Factor often, in my 1983 Mysterious America, I noted:

Cryptologic or coincidence? Jim Brandon should be credited with calling attention to the name Watts/Watkins/Watson, and its entanglement with inexplicable things. Russell Square Attack

One person, a woman, was killed and five others were injured in a knife attack in central London's Russell Square, London Metropolitan Police said.

Police were called in at 10:33 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016, after reports were received of a man "seen in possession of a knife injuring people," authorities said in a news release.

The press release follows:

Police were called at 22:33 hours on Wednesday, 3 August to reports of a man seen in possession of a knife injuring people at Russell Square, WC1.
Officers attended the scene along with the London Ambulance Service.
Up to six people were found injured at the location.
A female (no further details) was treated at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later.
We await an update on the condition of the other persons injured and details of any other injuries.
A man was arrested at 22:39 hours and a Taser was discharged by one of the arresting officers.
Additional police units have been deployed to the area to provide reassurance.
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Terrorism is one possibility being explored at this stage. 

The man was arrested less than 10 minutes later.

August 4, 2016 Update

London Metropolitan Police say a knife attack on Wednesday night that left an American woman in her 60s dead was spontaneous, and said the attacker's victims were selected at random.

Police are looking at mental health issues as the main line of inquiry and essentially ruled out terrorism as the likely motive, according to CNN.

A 19-year-old man, who is a Norwegian national of Somali origin, has been arrested following the fatal stabbing in Russell Square shortly before 10.30pm last night.

Police stressed that there was no evidence to suggest that the suspect’s background is “relevant to the motivations of his actions”.

Five people were injured and a woman, believed to be an American in her 60s, was treated at the scene before being pronounced dead a short time later.

Armed police have been patrolling central London streets since the attack

Those who were injured were reportedly British, American, Australian and Israeli, according to the Associated Press.

London's Russell Square

Russell Square is a large garden square in Bloomsbury, in the London Borough of Camden, built predominantly by James Burton. It is near the University of London's main buildings and the British Museum. To the north is Woburn Place and to the south-east is Southampton Row. Russell Square tube station is nearby to the north-east.

James Burton and T. S. Eliot

James Burton (29 July 1761 – 31 March 1837) was a British property developer, "probably the most significant builder of Georgian London." He was a founding member of the Athenaeum Club, London, as was his son, Decimus. He served as Master of the Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers and Sheriff of Kent. His 12 children included the Egyptologist, James Burton and the architect Decimus Burton.

There is a blue plaque on one at the north west corner commemorating the fact that T. S. Eliot worked there for many years when he was poetry editor of Faber & Faber: a building now used by the School of Oriental and African Studies (a college of the University of London).

Russell Square was the site of one of London's 2005 terrorist bombings.

One of the bombings of 7 July 2005 was on a London Underground train from King's Cross St Pancras tube station to Russell Square tube station, and another was on a bus on Tavistock Square, near Russell Square. To commemorate the victims, many flowers were laid at a spot on Russell Square just south of the café. The location is now marked by a memorial plaque and a young oak tree.

ISIS Is Terrible At Geography

It is being widely reported on July 26, 2016 that ISIS has warned that their next attacks will be on London and Washington, D.C.

Only problem is that ISIS does not seem to know where Washington, D.C. is and what structures exist there.

One picture chillingly shows New York’s Statue of Liberty engulfed in flames but with the caption “Washington soon” - referring to the US capital 225 miles away.

Palace Self-Immolation

Self-immolation in the news: A man in his 40s was found on fire outside London's Kensington Palace at 03:42 GMT on Tuesday, February 9, 2015. He died.

This is the London home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who were not at home.

It will be recalled that this house is where George Alexander Louis lives.

The Duchess of Cambridge's first pregnancy was announced on December 3, 2012. She was admitted on July 22, 2013 to the Lindo Wing, St Mary's Hospital, London, where Prince William himself had been delivered. Later that day, she gave birth to a baby boy—Prince George of Cambridge—with Prince William present.

On September 8, 2014, it was announced that the Duchess of Cambridge was pregnant with her second child. She was admitted on May 2, 2015 to the same wing of the hospital where she first gave birth. Later that day, she gave birth to a baby girl—Princess Charlotte of Cambridge—with Prince William present.

London Bridge Incident: The Fortean View

A "major incident" has been reported at London Bridge with reports suggesting that a man was wielding an axe in the train station. (This follows closely in time, but not space, the bridge incident yesterday in Washington State.)

IBTimes UK reporter Ewan Palmer, who was at the scene, said armed police and ambulance teams were at the scene, and that no one was being let in or out of the station.

He said an officer described it as a "major incident" but could not specify what had happened.

But Twitter feeds give more details:

"London Bridge station evacuated amid reports of man with axe, meanwhile M6 shut junc 2-4 bcs of suspicious vehicle. Jittery times."

"A guy with an axe was on my train"

The fact this may be a copycat fiction seems real. No "axe man" was found. No arrests were made. And it seems to be a false alarm at best, and a hoax at worst.

The Wikipedia for London Bridge has much interesting info ... but I think your eyes will be drawn to the theory (lower down the page) put forward by the folklorist Alice Gomme and "perpetuated by the usually sceptical Iona and Peter Opie" that the words referred to "child sacrifice," in particular, live burial in the foundations.
Note also that one of the proposed identities of the Fair Lady immortalised in the song rhyme is "A member of the Leigh family of Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, who have a family tradition that a human sacrifice lies under the building."
Note too, that the song and game's actions and verses are believed by some to be related to another children's rhyme-game called Oranges and Lemons and what should we find but a gruesome last verse...

The last man's dead!"
As far as I know, Woolwich, while south of the Thames, has never been regarded as part of Cockney land (as celebrated by the song). But then, in multicultural London we are all Cockneys now!

London is jumpy due to a violent attack that took place earlier this week.

Two suspected killers, British men of Nigerian descent, aged 22 and 28, are under guard in hospitals after being shot and arrested by police following the murder of 25-year-old Afghan war veteran Lee Rigby on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, in broad daylight.

One of the assailants, filmed justifying the killing as he stood near the body holding a knife and meat cleaver in bloodied hands, was named by acquaintances as 28-year-old Londoner Michael Adebolajo, a British-born convert to Islam.

Update: I enjoyed one of only 300 early screenings in the USA, only one in Maine, on May 15th. It is an incredible film that is not as dark as the promotional material would have you expect. Still, this movie, along with Iron Man 3, certainly start off another "dark" summer of motion pictures, a growing trend.

Near the beginning, there is an explosion in a big city. Sound familiar?

Star Trek Into Darkness really gets going with a terrorist attack in London.

Movie openings, film legacies, and violent incidents have gone hand in hand, of late.

Dark Knight opened July 23, 2008, in Belguim; Heath Ledger died January 22, 2009, in New York City; nursery attack (3 killed, 12 injured) occurred on January 23, 2009, allegedly by the Dendermonde Joker in Belguim.

Captain America opened July 22, 2011 in USA; Anders Behring Breivik on July 22, 2011, set off a car bomb in Oslo, shown above (killed 8, injured 209) and attacked youth camp on Utøya island, Norway (killed 69, injured 110).

Dark Knight Rises opened midnight July 20, 2012; James Holmes allegedly targeted Dark Knight Rises while dressed as Bane with Joker underneath (allegedly killed 12, allegedly injured 58), July 20, 2012, Aurora, Colorado, to Newtown, Connecticut, where on December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza killed his mother, then went to the Sandy Hook Elementary School and killed 20 children and 6 adult staff (total 27).

What have the major studios learned from these recent events? Don't open a blockbuster movie in 2013 on July 20, 21, 22, and 23.  This year, on the closest Fridays, you will note that Red 2 is due to open on July 19, and The Wolverine on July 26. These are not movies in the same darker mold as Man of Steel (June 14), The Lone Ranger (July 5), and Star Trek Into Darkness (May 17) this year.

Star Trek Into Darkness opens in Britain on May 9, 2013, and in the United States on May 17, 2013, the 12th film in the Star Trek franchise that was created about 50 years ago by Gene Roddenberry and led to six TV series.

May 9th is a date called Victory Day throughout most countries in the old Soviet Union, for victory over Nazi Germany was achieved by the Soviet Union on that date. Parades and other celebrations are sometimes still held. Chechen president Akhmad Kadyrov and 23 other people were killed in a bombing in the capital Grozny, during a World War II memorial victory parade in 2004. In Kaspiysk, Russia, a remote-controlled bomb exploded during a holiday parade killing 43 and injuring at least 130, in 2002.

And Star Trek Into Darkness, relatively speaking, opens with a boom....

Let us hope the only darkness is on the screen this time.
