Bellingham's Ramming: Bell Name Game Again

After rammings in Heilelberg and New Orleans, there has been another. On Sunday, February 26, 2017, a car ramming took place in London.

At about 8:20 am on Sunday, February 26, 2017, a car rammed into pedestrians on Bromley Road, Bellingham, southeast London. Five people have been injured, with at least one person trapped under the vehicle at the site.

Allegedly, the driver reportedly lost control and crashed into the group of pedestrians before hitting a wall.

The driver was detained at the scene by an off duty police officer before being arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The road remains closed as investigations are carried out.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said:
Five people - four men and a woman, believed to be aged between 25 and 46 years - were treated at the scene before being taken to south and east London hospitals.
Three of the pedestrians - a 35-year-old woman and two 25-year-old men remain in a critical condition.
Two other men, aged 36 and 46 are in a stable condition; their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The driver of the car was detained at the scene by an off-duty police officer before being arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He was also arrested on suspicion of drink drive before being taken to a south London hospital with a head injury.
The crash happened opposite a car wash outside Catford bus garage.

Photos posted online show a Mercedes sedan that appears to have come off the road and rammed into the end of a hedge, its hood and trunk popped open by the impact.

Bellingham, U.K.
Bellingham is an area of southeast London, Within the London Borough of Lewisham. It lies south of Lewisham and north of Beckenham.
The Bellingham Estate is an London County Council cottage estate bordered to the east and west by railway lines running south from Catford. Along the south it is bordered by Southend Lane, the A2218 main road. The River Ravensbourne runs through Bellingham, although it is either underground or part of a man-made section of the river. The Prime Meridian passes to the east of Bellingham.

Bell Green
Bell Green is an area in the London Borough of Lewisham, between Perry Vale and Bellingham. The area was historically known for its gas works and the poverty of the local workers, in what Charles Booth called "the one really poor district in this quarter of London." The gasworks closed in 1968 and the whole area redeveloped; it is best known today for the eponymous retail park. Source.

Bell Name Game, Again

Are we seeing a bit of the The Name Game this weekend? Should we watch what monikers come our way through Tuesday, Mardi Gras?

In Jim Brandon's 1983 book, The Rebirth of Pan: Hidden Faces of the American Earth Spirit, he writes, regarding the "name game":
I'm not talking here of such spooky tongue-twisters as H.P. Lovecraft's Yog-Sothoth or Arthur Machen's Ishakshar, but of quite ordinary names like Bell, Beall and variants, Crowley, Francis, Grafton, Grubb, Magee/McGee, Mason, McKinney, Montpelier, Parsons, Pike, Shelby, Vernon, Watson/Watt, Williams/Williamson. I have others on file, but these are the ones which I have accumulated the most instances.
Besides detailing the Fayette Factor often, in my 1983 Mysterious America, I noted:
Cryptologic or coincidence? Jim Brandon should be credited with calling attention to the name Watts/Watkins/Watson, and its entanglement with inexplicable things. Some other names involved in mysterious events pinpointed by Brandon are Bell, Mason, Parsons, Pike, Vernon, and Warren. The influence of such names as Mason, Pike, Warren, and Lafayette, for example, issues, in some cryptopolitical and occult way, from their ties to the Masonic tradition.

Antioch: A Prediction Comes To Pass

I wrote the following on this blog, early on the date of August 4, 2015:
On July 20, 2015, I made a prediction of a potential movie shooting on August 5, 2016....But then, a mere three days after I wrote that overview on the exact anniversary of the Aurora shooting, a gunman shot up a theater on Wednesday, July 23, 2015. In what even Wikipedia now calls the "2015 Lafayette Shooting," America was surprised again, and I and others discussed some of its sync links; see, "Fayette Factor Hits Movie Theater."

...Time moves along on many fronts.
We are coming up to the two-week anniversary for the Trainwreck/Lafayette shooting, always a dangerous window. The date for that anniversary - Wednesday, August 5, 2015.
People should watch out.
I have made predictions before (see here). Dangerous Minds even called me "The Man Who Predicted The Aurora Shooting."

On August 5, 2015, my recent forecast came true. Two-week anniversaries are significant. (And four-week, one month cycles, are, as well. That upcoming date is Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Predictive future forecasting is simple. What people do with it, remains problematic. At least, the copycat effect is now not disbelieved, as it was a mere dozen years ago when I wrote my book.)

A few individuals on social media noticed. Wade Ridsdale's sent along a comment that summarized what many wrote: "Damn Loren, you nailed it."

And Andrew West Griffin said, "Looks like Loren Coleman was right."

Johanna Lenski wrote: "Damn, Loren is getting good at this predicting thing."

The predicted theater incident occurred exactly two weeks after a shooting at a showing of Trainwreck in Lafayette, Louisiana. The hatchet attack and air pistol shooting resulted in the death of the attacker and the injury of three patrons of the theater.

The movie that was playing at the time was Mad Max: Fury Road.

 =

The Dark Knight Rises' Bane (Tom Hardy) plays Mad Max's Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy). (For more on the meanings behind tridents, please read here. For more on the twilight language within The Dark Knight Rises, google it.)

Mad Max = Pontifex Maximus (Hierophant of the Roman Church), considers Jason Barrera.

The 2015 event took place at the Carmike Hickory 8 Cinema in Antioch, Tennessee, around 1:15 p.m. The gunman at the Hickory Hollow Cinema, Vincente David Montano was allegedly armed with a hatchet, pepper spray, an Airsoft gun, and a fake bomb. He reportedly was wearing a surgical mask. He was shot dead by a SWAT team as he exited through the theater's rear door.

It happened on Bell Road, a power name mentioned here often. See also here and here.

The attacker's name, Vincente David Montano:

Vincente (from the present participle of the Latin verb vincere, "to conquer or win"),

David ("beloved"), and

Montano ("from the mountains," "mountain dweller").

Besides, Bell Road, the theater was also located at the crossing of Mountain View Road.

The counties are Davidson and Rutherford.

The Carmike Hickory 8 Cinema and Hickory Hollow Cinema are references to Andrew Jackson. See more here.

Antioch is a community in southeast Nashville, Tennessee.

The community takes its name from Antioch, Turkey, an ancient city in Anatolia. As recently as the 1960s Antioch was a small community catering to the needs of area farmers with amenities such as a feed mill. Adjacent to Bakertown (a similar small community) it was located on the banks of Mill Creek, a minor tributary of the Cumberland River that rises near Nolensville, several miles to the southeast. This area has become less important over time as zoning restrictions forbidding further development on a floodplain have limited the construction of more businesses in this area, which had started to become congested.

Antioch on the Orontes was an ancient Greek city on the eastern side of the Orontes River. Its ruins lie near the modern city of Antakya, Turkey, and lends the modern city its name.

Founded near the end of the 4th century BC by Seleucus I Nicator, one of Alexander the Great's generals, Antioch's geographic, military and economic location, particularly the spice trade, the Silk Road, the Persian Royal Road, benefited its occupants, and eventually it rivaled Alexandria as the chief city of the Near East and as the main center of Hellenistic Judaism at the end of the Second Temple period. This and more historical notes can be found via the summary on Wikipedia.

Especially noteworthy is that Seleucus founded Antioch on a site chosen through ritual means. An eagle, the bird of Zeus, had been given a piece of sacrificial meat and the city was founded on the site to which the eagle carried the offering. Seleucus did this on the 22nd day of the month of Artemisios in the twelfth year of his reign (equivalent to May 300 BC). Antioch soon rose above Seleucia Pieria to become the Syrian capital.

Agrippa and Tiberius enlarged the theatre, and Trajan finished their work. Antoninus Pius paved the great east to west artery with granite. A circus, other colonnades and great numbers of baths were built, and new aqueducts to supply them bore the names of Caesars, the finest being the work of Hadrian. The Roman client, King Herod (most likely the great builder Herod the Great), erected a long stoa on the east, and Agrippa (c.63 BC – 12 BC) encouraged the growth of a new suburb south of this.

The Greek hippodrome was the basic model for both the Roman stadium and the Roman circus. It will be recalled that the term "stadium seating" comes from the Ancient Greek "circuses" (like Antioch) and evolved into theater seating (like in modern movie theaters and sports stadiums).

Correspondent Travis Vaughn made the observation that in 256, Antioch was suddenly raided by the Persians, who slew many in the theatre.

Outside Antioch, Greece, on October 22, 362, a mysterious fire destroyed the Temple of Apollo at Daphne.

The name Antioch populates modern incidents of violence.

An Antioch, California woman, Layla Trawick, 34, used a butcher's knife and a carving knife to attack the victims in a Target store in West Hollywood, California, Monday afternoon, May 3, 2010. She used both blades at the same time — one in each hand, like in the movie Psycho, sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

The Yellow Springs, Ohio, campus of Antioch College – specifically the haunted Glen Helen - was the site of a supposed report of a gunman, probably a hoax, on June 27, 2013.

The Taco Bell in Antioch, California, decided to close on September 18, 2014, because of rumors of a "fight club" there in which students had broken into brawls the previous week.

White House Trident, Bell Syncs and Nuclear Attack 2015: Trident Times Continue

A trident was the initial reason a jumper was able to get into the White House, you say? That's the surprising little detail in a just-released Homeland Security review of the September 19, 2014, incident.

The description of the top of the fence as a "trident" may not be totally accurate, but the fact that that term would be used, nevertheless, in these "Trident Times," makes total sense to me. Here are some examples of how it is being employed:
The new report said Omar Gonzalez, 42, cleared the fence where a trident, or ornamental spike, was missing. An officer in the joint operations center who tried to raise the alarm was unaware his warnings weren't being broadcast to uniformed officers stationed at the executive mansion. ~ NBC4/Washington
Shortly after Gonzalez ignored the shouts of uniformed officers and climbed over the White House fence where a missing "trident" made doing so easier, his landing on the grass set off alarms. ~ Bloomberg
The section of the fence that Gonzalez scaled lacked an ornamental spike — called a trident — that would have made it harder for him to get over, the report found. ~ Washington Post

Fixing the tridents. Better late than never?

Across most of the top of the fence, these toppers, vaguely, looks like tridents because they seems to be forms of a stylized fleur-de-lis ("flowers of the lilies"), which are stylized tridents. Fences tend to use them routinely. The specific one that the workman is fixing, however, is even more a trident.

The trident, obelisk, fleur-de-lis, frog, and pine cone were fertility symbols used in pagan religions and are still used today. Source.

Why "trident"? Please revisit "Synchromystic Symposium: The Meaning of Tridents."

(BTW, if you missed it, the biggest trident of the world was installed at Pandeshwor Mahadev Temple in Dharna VDC-1 in Dang district, India, on October 29, 2014. The trident weighs around 6,500 kg and is 42.5 feet tall. The trident, constructed from five metals, was made at a cost of Rs 2.2 million. Sources, here and here.)
When I reported on Gonzalez's jump earlier, "The Bell Tolls White House Jumpers...," I mentioned he was from Bell County, Texas. Also, Samantha Bell is the name of Gonzalez's ex-wife. Gonzalez is listed as living in Copperas Cove (a sync to the Copper business of Interstellar?), Texas, which partially overlaps into Bell County. Records indicate Gonzalez was born and married in Bell County. See that posting near its end for more on the meaning and significance of Bell.

Briefly, in Jim Brandon's 1983 book, The Rebirth of Pan: Hidden Faces of the American Earth Spirit, he writes, regarding the "name game":
I'm not talking here of such spooky tongue-twisters as H.P. Lovecraft's Yog-Sothoth or Arthur Machen's Ishakshar, but of quite ordinary names like Bell, Beall and variants...
Then, the "Third White House Fence Jumper Since 9/11/2014" leaped the White House fence on the evening of October 22, 2014. His name is Dominic Adesanya, 23, and he is from - well, of course - Bel Air, Maryland.

Dominic Adesanya (surname meaning unknown, but name origin: Nigerian), listed his job title as "American Slave." His profile also says, “Still waiting for Nathaniel Philip Rothschild and his father; Nathaniel Charles Jacob Rothschild-4th Baron Rothschild to let me go. Whenever that day comes…”

Intriguingly, then Matthew Bell sent me this seemingly unlinked tidbit, from page A1 of the New York Times11.11.14, about the prison interview of the hacker Guccifer, who told of
A potpourri of conspiracy theories about the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the 1997 death of Princess Diana and alleged plans for a nuclear attack in Chicago in 2015, it said: “This world is run by a group of conspirators called the Council of Illuminati, very rich people, noble families, bankers and industrialists from the 19th and 20th century.”

Marcel-Lehel Lazar, a.k.a Guccifer (i.e. Gucci + Lucifer), tormented various celebrities with no special skills beyond what he had picked up on the web. Photo by Cristian Movila.
Mr. Badea, the Romanian prosecutor, scoffed at Mr. Lazar’s fixation on so-called Illuminati as a ruse intended to give a political gloss to a peeping-tom hacking addiction. The hacking exploits that led to his 2011 conviction involved “no Illuminati, just famous and beautiful girls,” the prosecutor said.
Mr. Lazar denied any interest in celebrities, asserting that he had only stumbled on most of the people he hacked as Guccifer, a long list that included the actress Mariel Hemingway, the “Sex and the City” author Candace Bushnell, the editor Tina Brown, the comedian Steve Martin, the author Kitty Kelley and many others.
With no access to a computer in jail, he now pours out his phobias and conspiracy theories in notebooks filled with his small, neat handwriting. “O.K., I broke the law, but seven years in a maximum-security prison? I am not a murderer or a thief,” he said. “What I did was right, of course.” Source.

Let's hope, despite their skepticism, someone has asked Lazar for his insights on the details of this 2015 planned nuclear attack of Chicago.

I shall end with this...for whom the bell tolls...it may toll for Lucifer.

Lucifer, Act III

First Devil

I hear the great bell
Let its merry knell
Wake all fiends who dwell
In the breast of the teeming earth

Second Devil

I hear the great bell
And I sniff the smell
That I love full well
Of a roast on the roaring hearth

First Witch

I hear the great bell
And its changes tell
That the Prince of Hell
Is the guest of our seldom mirth

Chorus

I hear the great bell
Let its merry knell
Wake all fiends who dwell
In the breast of the teeming earth

The Bell Tolls White House Invasions and Mass Murders

No man is an Iland, intire of it selfe; every man is a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine; if a Clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were, as well as if a Mannor of thy friends or of thine owne were; any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee. ~ John Donne, Devotions upon Emergent Occasions, Meditation XVII, 1624 (original spelling).
Synchronicity is strange. It plays games with your mind, leading you down one road, and dropping you off on another path that leads you right back to the beginning.

Let's take one down the synchromystic journey that appears to be going back and forth in time, starting with a horrible incident that occurred in a microscopic town in the South of the USA.

On Thursday, September 18, 2014, it was Bell, Florida, where a "spirit" - Donald Charles Spirit, 51, - killed his adult daughter (Sarah, 28) and six grandkids, before killing himself. The children who died were identified as Kylie Kuhlmann, 9, Kaleb Kuhlmann, 11, Johnathon Kuhlmann, 8, Destiny Stewart, 5, Alanna Stewart, born June 28 of this year, and Brandon Stewart, 4. The fathers (James Lawson Stewart and Edward Kuhlman) of both sets of children were imprisoned at the time of the shootings.

If that wasn't bad enough, the history here was mysterious and murderous:
Media reports indicate that Spirit accidentally shot and killed an 8-year-old son, Kyle, during a hunting trip to Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area near Kenansville, Fla., on Nov. 14, 2001. During a walk through the woods, Spirit pointed out some rust on the muzzle of a gun and it fired, hitting Kyle in the head, officials said. He was sentenced to three years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm. Spirit pleaded guilty in exchange for a minimum sentence just as his trial was about to begin. After that incident, the family moved from Tampa to Bell, according to published reports. Source.

The Bell killings occurred on the same day, a Taco Bell in Antioch (named after the ancient warring Greek city founded by one of Alexander the Great's generals), California, announced it would be closing its inside area from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. This was an attempt to deter high school students using their place as a fight club. After school brawling had routinely broken out in that Taco Bell. Fights had occurred in the previous days.

Also on Thursday, Kenneth Osako, 46, allegedly used a bar-bell at a gym in South San Francisco to beat Diego Galindo, 43, to death. Source.

Meanwhile, a few hours before, late on Wednesday night, September 17, 2014, a high speed chase in Bell Township, Pennsylvania, ended when multiple law enforcement departments' pursuits came to an abrupt stop after police shot driver Joshua Jesse of Monroeville, after he allegedly fired on officers. Source.

Also on September 17, the Denver Chapter of National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution rang their Colorado Liberty Bell replica for the first time in 40 years, on Constitution Day. Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine men on September 17, 1787, recognizing all who are born in the U.S. or by naturalization have become citizens.

Even "celebrity news" got involved in this cycle. See "Kristen Bell's Husband Dax Shepard Got a Bell Tattoo on His Ring Finger in Honor of His Wife!" (h/t Todd Campbell).

Something seemed to be in the air regarding "Bell," needless to say.

Soon my attention was drawn to the White House. Here too, a Bell was in the twilight there.

Appearing online, this image has now been turned into
a political statement of undetermined meaning.

You will recall that on September 11th, a man wearing a Pokémon shirt & cap and carrying a Pikachu doll, climbed the fence, got onto the White House lawn, and created quite a scare. Turns out the guy was named Jeffrey Grossman, 26, from Rensselaer, New York, who has mental disabilities. He wanted to ask President Obama about healthcare, allegedly. Grossman has a Bachelor of Science degree in business from College of Saint Rose in Albany.

Grossman (shown) was a graduate of Chatham High School in Chatman High School. On September 19, the school put out an alert "about children in Colonie and Berkshire County being approached by a man in a gray car with New York plates, which police are investigating as possible attempted abductions. While there have been no reported incidents in our immediate area, today we took the opportunity to remind all our students to be vigilant about their safety when out and about."

Grossman's White House intrusion was disturbing, but what happened next was even more concerning, considering the White House is suppose to be the best guarded location in the Free World.

On Friday evening, September 19, 2014, Omar J. Gonzalez, 42, who allegedly is from Bell County, Texas, jumped the White House's North Fence, darted across the lawn and through the unlocked North Portico doors before officers finally tackled him. It was announced on Saturday that he was carrying a knife. The President and his family had just left for Camp David, and the White House was evacuated. When Gonzalez was apprehended he told Secret Service agents he was "concerned that the atmosphere was collapsing" and needed to contact the president "so he could get word out to the people." Certainly for Gonzalez, the bell was tolling for him.

Update 22 September 2014: White House intruder had 800 rounds of ammunition in his car.

Newer Update:

On September 22, 20014, USA Today made this observation:
Samantha Bell, Gonzalez's ex-wife, said she and Gonzalez married in 2006 and lived together in Copperas Cove, near Fort Hood, until she split up with him in 2010 because of his worsening mental condition. After his second tour in Iraq, Gonzalez began carrying a .45 on his hip at all times and kept three or four rifles and shotguns behind the doors in their home, said Bell, who remarried and now lives in southern Indiana.
Yes, that's correct. His ex-wife is named Bell.

Gonzalez is listed as living in Copperas Cove, Texas, which partially overlaps into Bell County. Records indicate Gonzalez was born and married in Bell County. Waco, Texas, is nearby, and Fort Hood is too. Fort Hood is the scene of murder-suicides and mass shootings. The month has been filled with child murders and homicidal/suicidal acts.

The federal government's action at Waco allegedly triggered the Oklahoma City bombing, which caused the new security measures at the White House. This is all getting to be circular.

On Saturday, September 20th, there was the third recent incident at the White House. The Associated Press shared the slimmest of details:
Less than 24 hours after Gonzalez's arrest, a second man was apprehended after he drove up to a White House gate and refused to leave, the Secret Service said, prompting bomb technicians in full gear to search the vehicle as agents shut down nearby streets.

Where is this going? We shall see, for whom does the bell toll? It tolls for thee.

Bells, tridents, beheadings. White House invasions, child endangerment, NFL players being charged with domestic violence. What are these times we are experiencing. The bell is tolling for thee. Is it really something distance, or are these events close to home?

Why Bells now? Is the metaphor ringing as a herald of news? Or of danger?

I have talked of "Bells" in synchrocinema before. See, for example, 2008's "The Brotherhood of the Bell" and my recycled thoughts on "Yeti, Jimmy Stewart, Bell and Book."

In my 1983 Mysterious America, I wrote:

From the original source, the Dictionary of American Family Names (Oxford University Press, 2013), the following is shared for the meaning of the name Bell:
Scottish and northern English: from Middle English belle ‘bell,’ in various applications; most probably a metonymic occupational name for a bell ringer or bell maker, or a topographic name for someone living ‘at the bell’ (as attested by 14th-century forms such as John atte Belle). This indicates either residence by an actual bell (e.g. a town’s bell in a bell tower, centrally placed to summon meetings, sound the alarm, etc.) or ‘at the sign of the bell’, i.e. a house or inn sign (although surnames derived from house and inn signs are rare in Scots and English).
Scottish and northern English: from the medieval personal name Bel. As a man’s name this is from Old French beu, bel ‘handsome,’ which was also used as a nickname. As a female name it represents a short form of Isobel, a form of Elizabeth.
Scottish: Americanized form of Gaelic Mac Giolla Mhaoil ‘son of the servant of the devotee.’
Jewish (Ashkenazic): Americanized form of one or more like-sounding Jewish surnames.
Norwegian: habitational name from a farmstead in western Norway named Bell, the origin of which is unexplained.
Scandinavian: of English or German origin; in German as a habitational name for someone from Bell in Rhineland, Germany, or possibly from Belle in Westphalia. Americanized spelling of German Böhl or Böll (see Boehle, Boll).

The bell and the trident - and beheadings - appear in combination in many cultures.

Another Fort Hood Mass Shooting

Ivan Lopez, Fort Hood's newest mass shooter.

Mass shootings sometimes repeat in the same locations. Fort Hood, in Killeen, Texas, was the site of a mass shooting on November 5, 2009, when Army psychiatrist Major Nidal Hasan killed 13 people. Now there is early news of another multiple shooting at Fort Hood. (See my posting on the 2009 event, here.)

On April 2, 2014, four people were killed, including the gunman, in a shooting at Fort Hood in Texas, according to law enforcement officials, senior U.S. officials and the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

The committee chairman, Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, told CNN he had been briefed on the deadly incident and said there were also 14 injuries. At least two of the injured had multiple gunshot wounds, a hospital spokesman said.

Indications are that the shooter died by suicide. An initial report indicates the shooting incident started as a soldier-on-soldier attack.

A U.S. military official said the shooter was an enlisted soldier named Ivan Lopez, who is dead. He was a 34-year-old Specialist, who was known to have driven trucks.

The Iraq War veteran, suffering from PTSD, Ivan Lopez was initially angry that he was not given permission to attend his mother’s funeral, but had been given a 24-hour pass to attend. A friend said Lopez mentioned he had an argument with someone at the base prior to the shootings.

Spc. Ivan Lopez, Fort Hood, Warrior Transition Brigade.

President Obama said his national security team was "working with folks on the ground to determine exactly what happened and to ensure that everyone is secure."

"The situation is fluid right now. ... Any shooting is troubling," the president said. "We're heartbroken that something like this might have happened again. I don't what on the comment on facts until we know exactly what happened. But just for now I would hope that everyone across the country keep the families of Fort Hood in our thoughts and our prayers. ... We don't yet know what happened tonight but obviously that sense of safety has been broken once again."

Fort Hood officiale identified the soldiers killed in the shooting as Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Ferguson, Sgt. Carlos Lazaney, and Sgt. Timothy Owens.

Fort Hood is a United States military post located in Killeen, Texas, in Bell County. The post is named after Confederate General John Bell Hood. The county is named named for Texas's third Governor Peter Hansborough Bell. What we observe here is a double-Bell power name game focus (see here).

Ivan means "Gift from God," or is seen as a variant of John, also "Yahweh is merciful."

López is a surname of Spanish origin. It was originally a patronymic, meaning Son of Lope, Lope itself being a Spanish given name deriving from Latin lupus, meaning wolf.

Fort Hood is located halfway between Austin and Waco, about 60 miles from each other, within the U.S. state of Texas. Waco in April has certainly been the apex of violence, of course.

After the 2009 shooting, during Hasan's trial, he called himself a "mujahedeen," or Muslim holy warrior. Hasan did not deny he was the shooter. He was convicted and received the death penalty in August 2013.

Lopez reportedly bought his weapon on March 1 at the Guns Galore store in Killeen, Texas — the same shop where Major Nidal Hasan bought the gun used in his 2009 killing spree.

Washington Named Locales Hit Hard By Tornadoes

A lone bell symbolizes the damage of the EF4 tornado in New Minden.

After so much news along the old Route 66, are we surprised to see where these tornadoes struck?

The town of Washington and New Minden, Washington County, in two parts of the State of Illinois, were deeply involved in the tornado strikes on Sunday, November 17, 2013.

The Washington County Coroner’s Office in southern Illinois has confirmed two deaths attributed Sunday’s EF4 tornado that touched down in the New Minden area.

Joseph R. Hoy, 80 and his sister Frances J. Hoy were killed Sunday as a result of a tornado that touched down in the New Minden, Illinois area. The Hoy’s lived on a farm in the 14000 block of Eagle Road that was completely destroyed.

Josephs Hoy died from massive head trauma, he was located in a field about 100 yards from his home. His sister Frances died at the Washington County Hospital, from injuries suffered from the tornado.

Meanwhile, southwest of Chicago, the town of Coal City was hit by a confirmed EF2 tornado, determined after an initial NWS survey of the area.

One death was also reported in Brookport, in Massac County, Illinois, according to Charles Taylor, deputy director, Massac County Emergency Management. Taylor added the town was heavily damaged and numerous injuries have been reported.

The town of Washington, in Tazewell County, Illinois, appeared particularly hard-hit, with one resident saying his neighborhood was wiped out in a matter of seconds by a tornado.

KC Chiefs Player Suicide at Arrowhead: Updates

Kassandra Perkins: The victim.

Jovan Belcher: The perpetrator

Brittni Glass: Another victim?

American professional suicides (see "NFL Suicides: 12 in 25 Years") are back in the news.

Following two violence incidents yesterday - one murder-suicide initially said to involve arrows in a location rich in Indian-soldier conflicts and another of a university football player being shot - a football player on an Indian-monikered NFL team killed himself at Arrowhead Stadium on the morning of December 1, 2012.

In an apparent murder-suicide, a Kansas City Chiefs player shot himself in the head in front of his coaches at a team training facility after earlier shooting to death his girlfriend at her residence, police said.

Kansas City, Missouri, police spokesman Darin Snapp identified the player as linebacker Jovan Belcher, 25, who played football in college at the University of Maine.  Belcher, from West Babylon, New York, played at Maine from 2005-08. He graduated from Maine in December 2008 with a bachelor's degree in child development and family relations.

Jovan as a boy's name is of Latin origin. Variant of Jove, from Jupiter (Latin) "the supreme God." Jupiter was the supreme deity of Roman mythology, corresponding to the Greek Zeus.

The surname Belcher has its roots in medieval England, and, before that, in France. The name Belcher is composed of two syllables: Bel and cher. In Old French, Bel meant "beautiful or fine." The Middle English word cher (also derived from the Old French) meant an "an expression on the face"; in Middle English, this word was also spelled chere (as in Richard Belechere). A person's mood, especially gladness or joyfulness, as expressed on a person's countenance or face, was called chere orcher, the word we know today as cheer. Cheer denotes gladness or joy. Cheer was also spelled scher, shere, or chire (which is very similar to some of the variant spellings of siror sur, as in Belesur). When spelled cher or chere, the word also referred to good hospitality (such as one would find on the estate of a sir, knight, or gentleman). Thus, the Belcher name refers to a beautiful or fine expression on the face, hospitality, or, in summary, Bel = "good" + cher = "cheer."
Belcher took his life in the parking lot near Arrowhead Stadium as officers pulled up to park and saw him with a gun to his head talking to coaches. Before Belcher's suicide, the player was talking to Chiefs' general manager Scott Pioli, coach Romeo Crennel and an unnamed Chiefs staff member. Pioli and Crennel "never felt like they were in danger." Belcher, reportedly, thanked the general manager and coach for all they had done for him.

When officers arrived, the player walked away from the three Chiefs personnel and "a couple seconds later, they heard the gunshot," Snapp told reporters.

About 20 minutes prior to his suicide, the player shot his girlfriend in her nearby home, Snapp said. The NFL.com reported that Snapp said the mother described the relationship as "on-again, off-again."

The Kansas City Star, quoting an unidentified friend of Perkins, reported that Belcher confronted his girlfriend after she returned at about 1 a.m. following a Trey Songz concert. The couple had dated about three years and argued frequently recently.

The couple's daughter Zoey, born Sept. 11, 2012, is safe. The baby is in the care of Belcher's mother, who police said lived with the couple in their rented home.

Belcher was in his fourth year with the Chiefs after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Maine. He started 10 of the 11 games he had played this season, registering 38 tackles.

Other Kansas Chiefs players have experienced tragic deaths.

In February 2000, star linebacker Derrick Thomas of the Chiefs died from injuries sustained in an auto accident weeks earlier. Thomas was a Pro Bowler in nine of his 11 seasons with the Chiefs. In 2009, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In 1983, Kansas City running back Joe Delaney drowned while trying to rescue three children who were struggling in a pond in Monroe, Louisiana. Though an inexperienced swimmer, Delaney made the rescue attempt. Two of the children also drowned. Delaney was a Pro Bowler in his second season with the Chiefs in 1982.

Updates:

The Chiefs played at home against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday and had an emotional win.

More details are surfacing, including the "Belcher spent night with [Brittni Glass] before killing," and that "In college, Belcher punched out window over girl."

More has come out, as well, about Belcher's use of pain meds and drinking to deal with head injuries and behavior outbursts. His football organization, however, noted they did not feel there was any problem in this area. Kansas City Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt told the media that "Belcher 'Had Not Had A Long Concussion History'."

Of course, that begs the question, what kind of concussion history did he have? In college? In high school?

Concussions have been linked to suicides and murders of and by NFL players in recent years.

La Belle Aurore: Casablanca & Looper

As Time Goes By

Aurora

After Sam (Dooley Wilson) plays "As Time Goes By," yet again, (in Casablanca, 1942) we find Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman) and Rick (Humphrey Bogart) talking about that special day in a special cafe in Paris:

Ilsa: I wasn't sure you were the same. Let's see, the last time we met...
Rick: Was La Belle Aurore.
Ilsa: How nice, you remembered. But of course, that was the day the Germans marched into Paris.
Rick: Not an easy day to forget.
Ilsa: No.
Rick: I remember every detail. The Germans wore gray, you wore blue.

La Belle Aurore in Casablanca was
shown only in flashback scenes
and via the shadow of its window.

Perhaps it is an inside joke or not, but in the new movie entitled Looper about time travel, (get it, "As Time Goes By"?), we find a cafe named La Belle Aurore. Also, there are overlapping themes of who is whom, and what is what between Casablanca and Looper.

Some folks on the Internet mistranslate La Belle Aurore as "the beautiful sunset." It appears that the more proper translation is "the beautiful dawn."

The name Aurora means "dawn." The Roman goddess of the dawn was named Aurora, and her siblings are Sol (Sun) and Luna (Moon). These names in Latin and Greek are Aurora/Eos, Sol/Helios, Luna/Selene.

(Needless to say, in La Belle Aurore we also find the power word "Bell," as well, which I have talked about here.)
This is a year in which the word Aurora (vis-a-vis The Dark Knight Rises shooting and Aurora copycats) is all too significant.  It does appear to be synchrocinematically symbolic for this La Belle Aurore to reveal itself now in a time travel film.

Some set photos from Rian Johnson's sci-fi film Looper are presently on the Internet, courtesy of On Location Vacations. The futurist cars are shown outside La Belle Aurore.

Photo of La Belle Aurore as seen in the movie Looper. The fictional film's location for this cafe, in reality, is 219 S Rampart St, off Common Street in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Besides time travel, a subtle sub-theme is twins/ids too, for in Looper, actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt is transformed into a younger version of Bruce Willis through the magic of prosthetic makeup.
Hat tip to Mark for a hint to a Looper link.
