Dressed in Black, Caught Between Two Worlds in Santa Clarita

The news out of Saugus, California, was of another school shooting on November 14, 2019. Santa Clarita High School is located in Saugus, north of Los Angeles. The town is known as the home of film star notable Harry Carey (who died in 1947) and his son Harry Carey Jr. (who died in 2012). Both are known for Westerns, and both claimed Saugus as their home.

The elder Harry Carey, actor and one of silent film's earliest superstars, is most often recalled for his Oscar-nominated role as the President of the Senate (the Vice President of the United States) in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (Frank Capra, 1939).

Carey Sr. married Olive Fuller Golden in 1920, and they purchased a 1,000-acre ranch in Saugus, California, north of Los Angeles, which was later turned into Tesoro Adobe Historic Park in 2005.

As an homage to Harry Carey, John Wayne held his right elbow with his left hand in the closing shot of The Searchers (John Ford, director, 1956), imitating a stance Carey himself often used in his films. According to John Wayne, both he and Carey's widow Olive (who costarred in the film) wept when the scene was finished.

Saugus is named after the town of Saugus, Massachusetts, the hometown of Henry Newhall, upon whose land the town was originally built.

Saugus rancher Harry Carey Sr. (right) returns as "Cheyenne Harry" opposite Winifred Westover (left) — the future Mrs. William S. Hart — in the 1919 John Ford Western, Marked Men (a lost silent film). The character, Cheyenne Harry, always dressed in black. "The Carey Family in the John Ford Western Universe" (August 7, 2016).

Saugus and Santa Clarita. All just coincidences? Perhaps? Perhaps not?

Andrew W. Griffin, on October 31, 2019, "Working' on a mystery," in Red Dirt Report, wrote:
Oddly, Santa Clarita, where Del Shannon spent his final days, has been coming up in the news the past few days. Santa Ana winds in the Santa Clarita area have led to devastating wildfires in that area, while a Santa Clarita-based congresswoman, Katie Hill, a Democrat, has resigned over an ethics investigation.
Not sure if any of this means a doggone thing. Just taking notes as I continue to "work on this mystery."
A man in black is the shooter....

A young man described as "Asian," dressed in all-black, on his 16th birthday, shot at five fellow classmates for 16 seconds on November 14, 2019, at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California. He killed two people, injured three, and attempted to kill himself with a self-inflicted suicidal wound.

The shooting began at 7:38 a.m., before the beginning of classes.

The perpetrator reportedly pulled a .45 caliber handgun from his backpack and fired on fellow students in the school's quad. One of the students was struck in the stomach. A student was found at the school's choir room, and another was struck outside the school. A handgun was located outside the area of the shooting. Shortly after the attack on his classmates, the perpetrator turned the semi-automatic pistol on himself and attempted suicide. The shooting lasted sixteen seconds.

Three off-duty police officers had just dropped off relatives at the school and became the first responders on the scene: a detective with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and police officers from Inglewood and Los Angeles. They were joined within a minute by uniformed deputies on duty from the sheriff's station in Santa Clarita, as well as a sheriff's deputy who works at the school as the school resource officer. The Los Angeles County Fire Department confirmed firefighters responded to the shooting before 8 a.m. Santa Clarita, as a contract city, uses county sheriff and fire services in lieu of operating its own police and fire departments.

Two students, a 16-year-old girl (Gracie Anne Muehlberger) and a 14-year-old boy (Dominic Blackwell), died following the shooting. Blackwell turned 14 on September 11, 2019. Muehlberger turned 15 on October 10, 2019.

There were two girls, aged 15 and 14, injured in the shooting. Four students were hospitalized at the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where three are in critical condition. Two students were transported to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.

The suspect was identified as Nathaniel Berhow, a student at the school, who turned 16 that day. He was in critical condition after shooting himself in the head.

It was announced on the afternoon of November 15, 2019, that Nathaniel Tennosuke Berhow had died of his self-inflicted wound at 3:32 pm Pacific time.

In Japanese, there is a culture of Kanji which is a set of characters originated from Chinese characters, and the meaning of the name changes according to the choice of Kanji characters. It appears that mostly the meanings are "heaven" with forms of "assistance."

This ties into the first name, Nathaniel. Nathaniel is a given name derived from the Greek form of the Hebrew נְתַנְאֵל (Netan'el), meaning "God/El has given" or "Gift of God/El."

His Japanese mother is Mami Matasuura. His American father, Mark Berhow died on December 5, 2017, at the age of 55. Mark Berhow was an avid hunter.

Nathaniel Berhow appears to have been caught between two worlds...between cultures...between living and dying...

Between two worlds...

Enki A. King adds...

"Twin Peaks again. The suspect lived on Sycamore Creek Drive. In the Twin Peaks universe, sycamores are associated with portals between worlds."

The Black Lodge was surrounded by sycamore trees. "Sycamore Trees" is a song performed by Jimmy Scott as the Black Lodge performer in Episode 29 of Twin Peaks. The music was written by Angelo Badalamenti and the lyrics by David Lynch.

Sycamore trees have a long history in folklore dating back to Egyptian times where the Holy Sycamore is said to connect the worlds between the dead and the living.

It was the ancient Egyptian Tree of Life. The fruit and the timber, and sometimes even the twigs, are richly represented in the tombs of the Egyptian Early, Middle and Late Kingdoms.

And between other worlds...

With Monument Valley in the background, John Wayne as Ethan Edwards, at the end of The Searchers, symbolizes much.
As for the doorway, it’s a brilliantly simple way to show Ethan is trapped between two worlds: the outlaw West and civilization...When Ethan returns from his journey, he discovers a world where settlers are throwing parties and the great Comanche war chiefs are dead. Texas has become a more peaceful place, only Ethan can’t bring himself to settle down. He doesn’t belong in this civilized world, and, really, he isn’t even welcome there. None of Ethan’s friends or family members invite him inside, and the door closes to lock him out. There isn’t anywhere for Ethan to go. He isn’t welcome with the Native Americans; the Confederacy lost the Civil War; and everyone he knows has either died or left him behind. Much like the Comanche corpse earlier in the film, Ethan is fated to “wander forever between the winds.” "What does the final shot of The Searchers mean?" (June 5, 2015)

Garlic Festival Shooting, Oz, Zaragoza, and Aragon

Even garlic will not keep away evil, today.

There has been a mass shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival. The shooting Sunday night, July 28, 2019, was on the final day of the annual event at Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy, California. The incident left three dead, 15 injured and the suspected shooter killed by police. Several others were injured in the chaos after shots were fired, but were not shot, authorities said.

Are we in Oz? The band Tin Man (w/singer Jack van Breen) began its encore when shots rang out at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in California. A man wearing camouflage, a green shirt & a gray handkerchief around his neck fired into the food area with a rifle. Van Breen was the eyewitness giving this description to the police.

The first dead victim identified was 6-year-old Stephen Romero.

The shooter has been identified as Santino William Legan, 19, who was killed by police at the scene.

Santino is the Italian pet form of Santo, the Italian word for “saint” (from the Latin “sanctus” meaning “sacred, saint”). As a diminutive form, Santino essentially means “little saint”. It’s unclear how common this name is in Italy or when it started circulating as a masculine given name, but we do know that Americans were introduced to it in Mario Puzo’s 1969 novel The Godfather about the Sicilian Mafia family Corleone. Santino “Sonny” Corleone is the oldest of Don Corleone’s three sons (played by James Caan in the 1972 film adaptation). Ironically, as the most brazen and violent of the brothers, Santino Corleone was far from being a “little saint” (although he does have a soft side that rears its saintly self on occasion).
The root of the ancient Dalriadan-Scottish name Legan is the personal name Robert. Known as the Clan Donnachaidh, the family's origins are very distinguished, as the senior branch of the line were the hereditary abbots of Dunkeld, who traced their descent from Iona. In addition, Abbot Duncan of Dunkeld, the Robertson progenitor, was killed in battle in 964, as he led the warriors, bearing, a reliquary of St. Columba. His grandson, Abbot Crinan of Dunkeld, married the Kings daughter and then fathered King Duncan I of Scotland who was killed by MacBeth (of Shakespearean fame). Crinan is buried at the Isle of lona, burial place of Scotland's early Kings.
The surname Legan was first found in Atholl. King Duncan's younger son, Maelmore, sired Madadh, Earl of Atholl, and his grandson, Earl Henry, was father to Conan who held vast territories in this area. Conan of Glenerochie was the first Chief of the Robertsons and gave his name to the Clan Connchaidh or Duncan. His successor, Duncan, the 5th Chief, led the Clan in the army of King Bruce at Bannockburn in 1314 against the English. For this service, and his subsequent staunch support of the Scottish Crown, his grandson Robert of Struan was granted the lands and barony in 1451.

Before the shooting, Legan left this social media message:

mes·ti·zo = (in Latin America) a man of mixed race, especially one having Spanish and indigenous descent.

Legan’s grandfather was Tom Legan, a West Point graduate who died in May of 2018. According to his obituary, The elder Legan served as a “captain in Korea as a Nuclear Weapons Officer and completed his military service in Germany. As a civilian, Tom was Western Regional Marketing Director for Kaiser Cement and was thereafter appointed and then elected as Santa Clara County Supervisor for two terms.”

In 1988, he was acquitted by a jury of the alleged rape of his eldest daughter. The Los Angeles Times reported that he was “found innocent Friday of three counts of molesting his elder daughter in 1982.” Legan was seeking re-election at the time. Source.

July 25, 2019 - Another California Mass Shooting Began as Domestic Violence

A 26-year-old who embarked on a shooting rampage that left four dead — beginning with his own family and ending with a stranger on a bus — was arrested Thursday afternoon, July 25, 2019, after an hours-long manhunt that cast a shadow of fear across the sweltering San Fernando Valley.

Still armed with the gun authorities allege he used in the crime, Gerry Dean Zaragoza was taken into custody about 2:30 p.m. when two law enforcement officers with the LAPD and FBI joint fugitive task force spotted him walking on Canoga Avenue near Gault Street.

Zaragoza Name Meaning. Spanish: habitational name from the city of Zaragoza in northeast Spain, the ancient capital of the kingdom of Aragon. The name derives, via Arabic, from Latin Caesarea Augusta, the name bestowed in the 1st century AD by the Emperor Augustus.
Aragon, an independent kingdom from 1035 to 1479, which took its name from the river Aragón that arises in its northwestern corner. The river name is of obscure origin; it may be related to Basque (h)ara(n) 'valley'.
The officers yelled for him to get his hands up. He refused, and they used a Taser to subdue him outside a glass shop.

Zaragoza suffered minor injuries during the arrest and was taken away in handcuffs on a stretcher. He was armed with a similar-caliber weapon as the one used in the shootings.

Police say Zaragoza’s rampage began about 12 hours earlier — shortly before 2 a.m. — when he allegedly gunned down his family inside an apartment in the 21900 block of Roscoe Boulevard in Canoga Park.

His 50-year-old father and 20-year-old brother were fatally shot. His mother was shot and taken to the hospital in stable condition, police said.

Police say Zaragoza fled the apartment after the shooting. About 45 minutes later, authorities allege, Zaragoza opened fire outside a Shell gas station in the 6700 block of Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood.

When police arrived, they found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. The woman, Zaragoza former girlfriend, died at a hospital. The man remains in critical condition. Hours later, police said, Zaragoza shot and killed a stranger on a bus in Van Nuys, in the center of the valley.

Hellfire: The Violent Days of Spring 2019

April has come and gone. As forecast in "The Red Zone of April," the past is prologue. Let us look at a jam-packed Spring of 2019 that, indeed, was filled with "hellfire." And Spring is not through with us!

Al Noor Mosque, Christchurch, New Zealand.

The Christchurch mosque shootings were two consecutive terrorist attacks at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, during Friday Prayer on 15 March 2019. The attacks began at the Al Noor Mosque in the suburb of Riccarton at 1:40 pm and continued at the Linwood Islamic Centre at about 1:55 pm. The gunman live-streamed the first attack on Facebook Live. After being at Al Noor Mosque and going to Linwood, the gunman left the scene, in his car, to the music of "Fire" by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, where the singer proclaims: "I am the god of hellfire!"

The attacks killed 51 people and injured 49 others. A 28-year-old Australian man, Brenton Harrison Tarrant, described in media reports as a white supremacist and part of the alt-right, was arrested and charged with murder. The attacks have been linked to an increase in white supremacism and alt-right extremism globally observed since the mid-2010s. Politicians and world leaders condemned the attacks, and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern described it as "one of New Zealand's darkest days." The government has established a royal commission of inquiry into its security agencies in the wake of the attacks, which are the deadliest mass shootings in modern New Zealand history.

Fatalities 51 (47 of them male, and 4 female)

Thousand Oaks Shooting

At about 11:20 pm Pacific, Wednesday, November 7, 2018, a trench coat-wearing individual began shooting at dancers in the Borderline Bar and Grill. The establishment is located at 99 Rolling Oaks Drive, Thousand Oaks, California (well-known as the setting for many Hollywood movies). Borderline is a country and western music bar, and it was "college night." And "singles night." (Was this an "incel" target?)

The white male suspect was said to be dressed in a dark sunglasses, a black coat, and a beard. He had a hoodie or a hood over his head too. He fired approximately 30 rounds and throwing smoke bombs.

With more than 200 patrons inside, the bar was hosting a regularly scheduled College Country Night event and was particularly popular among students in the area, including Pepperdine University, California Lutheran University, California State University Channel Islands and Moorpark College.

Within minutes, police responded, and the gunman was found deceased. He is reported to be 28 years old, and has been identified as former Marine, who served in Afganistan, Ian David Long of Newberry Park, California. He was armed with a Glock.

This photo is being circulated on non-American sites as Ian David Long. I'm not sure it's a match.

Reportedly, Long used his mother's car to drive to the bar.

Eleven people in the bar were killed, and one police officer, a Ventura County sheriff's deputy Sgt Ron Helus, was also killed. The number thus totals 13, including the shooter.

Ron Helus

Helos (Ancient Greek: τὸ Ἕλος, meaning "marshland" or "swamp"), was a town of ancient Laconia, situated east of the mouth of the Eurotas, close to the sea, in a plain which, though marshy near the coast, is described by Polybius as the most fertile part of Laconia. Thanassis V. informs me that Helus is most probably from helos = swamp.

The event, a dance party involved local college crowds, and included informal gatherings of the survivors of the 10.1.2017 mass shooting at the Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Festival concert.

Another Greek angle is that 27 year old Telemachus Orfanos (=orphan) is one of the California victims. He was wounded in the Las Vegas massacre last year but survived. Telemachus (literally "far-fighter") was the son of Odysseus and Penelope, and a central character in Homer's Odyssey. The first four books of the Odyssey focus on Telemachus's journeys in search of news about his father, who has yet to return home from the Trojan War, and are traditionally given the title the Telemachy. ~ Thanassis V.

The 13th Victim = Ian David Long, PSTD

Borderline, PTSD, Incel

Various theories for why the Thousand Oaks shooting occurred came via social media within minutes of the news.

Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean identified the gunman as United States Marine Corps veteran Ian David Long, age 28, from Newbury Park. His gun was reportedly purchased legally.

A neighbor of Long claimed that he suffered from posttraumatic stress disorder as a result of his time in the military, and that they had "no idea what he was doing with a gun." Some felt that he had "picked" the Borderline Bar and Grill because he suffered from Borderline Personality Disorder.

That night at the bar was "singles nights."

Long, before he graduated from high school, it was revealed after the shooting, allegedly assaulted his high school track coach.

Dominique Colell kept it quiet because the other coaches did not want her to ruin Long's chances in the Marines.
“He attacked me. He attacked his high school track coach,” said Colell. “Who does that?”
For the former Newbury Park High School track coach this day has been full of emotions — from sadness to guilt. Because she never filed charges against Long after she says he assaulted her his senior year.
Colell says it happened during practice when someone found a phone and she was trying to figure out who it belonged to.
“Ian came up and started screaming at me that was his phone,” said Colell. “He just started grabbing me. He groped my stomach. He groped my butt. I pushed him off me and said after that — ‘you’re off the team.’ ”
But Colell says she was encouraged by other coaches and the school to accept an apology to not ruin his future in the Marine Corps.
“I should have reported it then,” said Colell.
And although she never would have predicted this, Colell says she doesn’t believe this is just a case of PTSD. She says Long had issues long before he was ever a Marine. ~ CBS Los Angeles.

Long had been living with his mother at the time. He reportedly had anti-social behavior.

Did Ian David Long think of himself as an incel?
