Halloween Recap 2014: Twins, 777, and The Death of the Innocents

They couldn't afford costumes, so 13-year-old Lexandra Perez wore only face paint and her twin sister Lexi wore regular clothes when they dashed out the front door of the Fairhaven Apartments on Halloween. They carried orange plastic pumpkins. LA Times.

Santa Ana (named for Saint Anne, "holy grace," the mother of Mary and grandmother of Jesus)

Twin sisters Lexandra and Lexi Perez, 13, along with their friend, Andrea Gonzalez also 13, were killed on Halloween night by a hit-and-run driver. They were trick-or-treating in Santa Ana, Orange County, California.  The three girls had on black leggings and dark clothing. They were struck by a sports utility vehicle while in the crosswalk on Fairhaven Street on Friday evening in Santa Ana, about 35 miles (55 km) south of Los Angeles.

Perez means "son of Pero, Pedro, Peter," Portuguese, Galician and Spanish forms of the name Peter, which derives, via Latin "petra," from the Greek word "η πετρα" meaning "stone, rock."

Gonzalez means "son of Gonzalo," with Gonzalo from gundis ("war") combined with salve/salvo. Also, from Visigoth origins, it means "son of battle genius" or "son of war elf."

Neighbors said the 13-year-old Perez twins always walked together. Lourdes Castrejon, 46, who knew them for years, said they were sweet and well-mannered, always saying "good day" in English and Spanish. "I saw them grow up," she said. "They looked just like the Virgin of Guadalupe." LA Times.

On Sunday, police made multiple arrests in connection with the hit-and-run killing of the girls. Police launched a search for the occupants of the vehicle, a Honda CR-V, which sped away from the scene. The SUV was later found abandoned at a nearby strip mall with damage to its front end, Santa Ana police said. Sources: 1, 2.

UPDATE:

The Bell name game again. As Enki passes along, a suspect has been arrested in the killings of these three 13-year-olds.

Irvine (Scottish: "fresh water," English: "wild boar" + "friend")

Some 10 miles away from Santa Ana, in Irvine, on West Yale Loop near Burwood Street, about 30 minutes after the girls were hit, John Alcorn, 65, (an attorney at Wilner and O'Reilly) was trick-or-treating with his 4-year-old son (who was wearing a Captain America costume). The calm, leafy Woodbridge neighborhood has been plagued by speeding cars in recent years. A Mazda struck them. Alcorn was killed; his son was rushed to a trauma center, where he was in critical condition. Alcorn derives from the Scottish/Old English Alchorn, a personal name + literally "horn," but used in a transferred sense to describe a projecting spur of a hill; hence "Alca's hill." Vancouver (Dutch: "the place where cows ford the river")

Also on Halloween, authorities in Vancouver, Washington, said two 7-year-old girls and a 20-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries when they were hit by a car while trick-or-treating in Vancouver. It occurred at Northeast 112th Avenue near Northeast 39th Street. There are two adult victims, a 30-year-old female, Chelina Alsten, and a 32-year-old female, Annie Arnold, and two juvenile victims, a 7-year-old girl Cadence Boyer, and another girl. The 32-year-old woman is the mother of the 7-year-old, and the other two victims are friends of the family and are not related. Cadence Boyer is in a coma.

"Cadence was their little princess. She was born on 07/07/07. She's 7-years-old. She's most likely not going to see 8," family friend Sean McNamee said. "She was the light of their life." Source.

There is a wealth of information on the significance of the number 777. See here. And you are wondering why I'm watching out for November 7th?

Greece (named after Graecus, the son of the god Zeus and Pandora II, whose maternal grandmother was Pandora of the famed pithos/storage jar, which was mistranslated into "box")

At Greece, New York, a three-year-old boy dressed as Spiderman was killed and a 16-year-old girl was seriously injured Halloween night when they were hit by a minivan as they began trick-or-treating. The car struck the children as they crossing two-lane Latta Road in Greece about 9:40 p.m., police said. Police say Tayvier Granderson died shortly after being hit. The teenager, Nicole Moore, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. They said the driver is cooperating in the investigation and has not been charged. Source.

In Lake Wales, Polk County, Florida, Dohntae Vasquez, 2, was killed when trick-or-treating with his grandmother and a family friend, David Heidler and his two kids. Dohntae was in a stroller with two other children when Heidler, who was pushing them across a street realized he had dropped his cell phone. The man stopped the stroller in the median and told the children to stay while he retrieved the phone. Dohntae got out of the stroller, darted across U.S. 27 to his grandmother on the curb, and was hit by a citrus worker bus. (Vasquez appears to be from seventh-century Basque "bela," meaning crow, and the diminutive suffix "sko," suggesting someone fierce. Vasquez = savage, brutal crow, blackbird.) Source

Portland ("land near port")

Portland, Cumberland County, Maine, awoke the day after October 31, 2014, to news that a house, which was full of young people from a Halloween party, had caught on fire. The blaze broke out shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday in the apartment house. There were six tenants at 20 Noyes Street, and all five who died lived there, authorities said. It is located near other apartments full of University of Southern Maine students, but it turned out now of the victims were current students.

The last body was not found until Saturday afternoon.

Three of the five have been identified: Nikki Finlay, Ashley Thomas and David Bragdon Jr.

Condolences to all.

In the realm of "I thought it was a Halloween prank" or some such, we have these 2014 stories:

Zombie run over by Zombie Slayer Bus
Hauser, Idaho. October 10, 2014.

A night of scary fun at an Halloween attraction turned deadly Friday when a teenage employee playing a zombie died in an accident. The 18-year-old employee of the Incredible Corn Maze in Hauser, Idaho, was run over by a bus ferrying paintball-gunning customers, officials say.
The corn maze’s customers paid to shoot employees dressed as zombies on the “Zombie Slayer Bus Ride.”

Jeremy T. McSpadden Jr. of Spokane Valley, Washington, was dressed as a zombie as he ran toward the bus and fell.
He was run over by the rear passenger wheel and likely died “instantly,” officials said. The cornfield’s uneven terrain caused the bus to rock and shake so no one immediately noticed McSpadden had died.
“Many of the patrons believed it was just part of the ride,” the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said. Read more here.

Satanists & Solstice Slayings

According to information from a self-styled Greek Satanist and accused murderer, he was plotting a new killing for the Solstice this weekend. Is there something in the wind?

The Summer Solstice for 2014 will occur at 6:51 AM (ET) on Saturday, June 21st.

Let's look at some recent disturbing news in this realm.

(1) April 20, 2014 - Orthodox Easter Sunday - Ritual Killing - Glyfada, Greece

Self-styled Satanist Alexandros Papageorgiou, 22, confessed to killing a woman.

On June 16th, Satanist Papageorgiou, an actor's son, was arrested in Greece on suspicion of ritually killing a homeless woman in an Athens public square and planning a second murder for this weekend’s summer solstice.

A police statement said the Greek suspect confessed to killing the woman with a heavy stone during a pre-dawn “ritual Satanist ceremony” in the seaside Glyfada suburb.

Glyfada (Greek: Γλυφάδα, pronounced [ɣliˈfaða]) is a suburb of Athens, situated in the southern parts of the Athens Metropolitan Area. The area, which is home to many of Greece's millionaires, ministers and celebrities, stretches from the foot of the Hymettus mountain to the Saronic Gulf. It is the largest of Athens' southern suburbs. This fashion-conscious suburb is known in Greece for its upmarket cafes, well-known restaurants, boutiques and cosmopolitan summer clubs; Glyfada has also been called "Knightsbridge-on-Sea," "Hellenic Hamptons," or the "Beverly Hills of Greece."

The 41-year-old woman was found dead on April 20, 2014, Orthodox Easter Sunday, with severe head injuries. A nearby bench had been daubed in blood with Satanist insignia. Blood on a makeshift altar?

The suspect's arrest on Monday, was also in Glyfada. Police identified Papageorgiou by references to the killing on social media, DNA analysis and a fingerprint on a plastic bag containing the murder weapon, found in a nearby trash container.
The suspect allegedly told police that he had intended to carry out another ritual killing on the day of the summer solstice, but it was unclear whether or not he had selected a prospective victim yet, according to the Associated Press.

(2) June 6, 2014 - Satanic Slaughter - Coffee County, Tennessee

In Coffee County, Tennessee, devil worshipper Gregory Hale (pictured), 37, met Lisa Hyder, 36, on June 6, then attacked her later that same day, beheaded her and put her hands and feet in a bucket, before eating her.

The ex-slaughterhouse worker was arrested and quickly he admitted killing her and eating part of her body. Suspected cannibal Hale’s Facebook page is filled with images and descriptions of blood, gore, killing, and the metal band Slayer.

In one bizarre passage, two months ago, Hale talked about eating a vegetarian, writing: “would tha vegetarian taste like that fake soy meat like they got in sum fast food places???”

Gregory Hale noted he wished he could have met serial killer and rapist Richard Ramirez, known as the Night Stalker, who died in a California prison in June 2013.

Hale was arrested on June 8th, after he asked a friend to help dispose of Hyder's body.

A friend said the former slaughterhouse employee was a self-proclaimed satanist who was fired after his boss found him carrying out a ritual with animal parts.

Hale is being held in jail on a high bond and is due to face court on June 23, charged with murder and abuse of a corpse, reports the Daily Mirror.

(3) June 12, 2014 - Killing of "Satan" - Miami, Florida

Ronnie Candelaria was arrested in Florida for the shooting deaths of a mother and her son.

The 21-year-old Candelaria is accused of the double murder in a SW Miami-Dade home. Candelaria said he wanted to kill the male victim because he believed he “was the Devil.”

Ronnie Candelaria allegedly shot and killed Gale Sikora and her son Anthony Sikora while they were inside their home in Arbor Courts on June 12, 2014, around 4 a.m.

Thursday morning, Candelaria, according to the arrest affidavit, left his home armed with an AK-74 along with seven magazines filled to capacity with 30 rounds—as well as a Glock with six magazines filled to capacity of 15 rounds, and two more magazines filled to capacity with 10 rounds. Loaded with ammunition, the arrest affidavit states, the suspect drove to the victims’ home, confronted them, and killed them.

Harvey Keitel plays the Devil in Little Nicky

According to the arrest affidavit, the defendant went to the victims’ home to kill the male victim “because after watching the movies The Punisher, The Punisher-War Zone, Little Nicky, and the series Breaking Bad, he believed the male victim was the Devil.”

Little Nicky appears to be a conscious play on the moniker Old Nick, which is a colloquialism for the Devil. In the film, Nicky (played by Adam Sandler) is one of the three sons of the Devil. Two of Nicky's siblings say that Nicky's mother is a goat and torment him by controlling his body with their minds.

Claims of mind control is a theme throughout many of these Satanic killings.

Candelaria means "Candlemas" in Spanish, ultimately derived from Spanish candela "candle." This name is given in honor of the church festival of Candlemas, which commemorates the presentation of Christ in the temple and the purification of the Virgin Mary.
Solstice Slayings

Among some conspiracy theorists, there is a notion that Solstice killings, murders, and sacrifices have been conducted against Hollywood celebrities and within other circles. While it may be healthy to take all of those kinds of thoughts with various grains of salt, let's, at least, register some of these thoughts here for the stake of the record.

(BTW, about those grains of salt...it is a common superstition that requires you to toss a pinch of the spilt salt over your left shoulder, into the face of the Devil who lurks there.)

While others wish to bring in the Illuminati to this discussion, it appears to be enough to look at this long list of solstice deaths, and thus stay with just the data, first.

One well-publicized solstice murder event was of the startling killing of five children by Andrea Pia Yates, on June 20, 2001, in Clear Lake, Texas. Yates was quoted as saying:
"It was the seventh deadly sin. My children weren't righteous. They stumbled because I was evil. The way I was raising them, they could never be saved. They were doomed to perish in the fires of hell."
She also told her jail psychiatrist that Satan influenced her children and made them more disobedient.
Discussions about such deaths appear to make an association with Solstices (summer and winter), and are often said to be on the 25ths of the months.

Two prominent examples are Michael Jackson on June 25, 2009, and James Brown on December 25, 2006.

Brittany Murphy, who died on December 20, 2009, at the young age of 32, is listed as a "solstice sacrifice." Here is an eleven-minute video containing such a claim (and this is a claim that is that of the video producer, and not necessarily of this author).

Nevertheless, I would say, as a word of caution, various actors and actresses may wish to think twice about going to an Atlanta-area Waffle House on the Summer Solstice this year.

Athena: 2012's First Nor'easter

Did you know the first winter storm of 2012 has been named Athena?

In the wake of "Election Night: Prometheus or Lucifer," the film Prometheus (which opened on June 8, 2012), and its relationship to Blade Runner (see here and here), tonight's storm has lexilinks to Prometheus.

In Greek religion and mythology, Athena or Athene, also referred to as Pallas Athena/Athene, is the goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, law and justice, just warfare, mathematics, strength, strategy, the arts, crafts, and skill. (Athena's Roman name is Minerva. Both Minerva, New York, and Minerva, Ohio, were impacted by Hurricane Sandy.)

Athena is the virgin patroness of Athens, Greece. The Athenians founded the Parthenon on the Acropolis of her namesake city, Athens (Athena Parthenos), in her honor. The city of Athens and the goddess Athena essentially bear the same name. Source.

When Zeus and the other Olympian gods rebelled against the Titans, Prometheus sided with the gods and thus won their favor. He held Zeus's aching head so that Hephaestus (Vulcan) could split it open and release the goddess Athena. To show her gratitude, Athena taught Prometheus astronomy, mathematics, architecture, navigation, metalworking, writing, and other useful skills. He later passed this knowledge on to humans.
Prometheus created humans by shaping lumps of clay into small figures resembling the gods. Athena admired these figures and breathed on them, giving them life. Zeus disliked the creatures, but he could not uncreate them. He did, however, confine them to the earth and denied them immortality. Prometheus felt sorry for humans, so he gave them fire and taught them various arts and skills. Source.

Not everyone is happy with naming this storm.
While Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy made history books for its destruction, its follow up storm is making history for a different reason: it's name.
The Nor'easter bearing down on New England Wednesday has been given the name "Athena" by the folks at The Weather Channel -- the inaugural name on the list of winter storm names the channel created this season.

As you might have heard, The Weather Channel went on their own and created a policy of naming winter storms in October, figuring a named storm will make communications easier, especially on social media where the storm could become a hashtag.
With "Athena", TWC said the storm meets their criteria for naming the storm due to the possibility of several inches of snow across some areas that were still recovering from Sandy, including the interior sections of New Jersey.
But not everyone is playing along with the idea.
The National Weather Service issued a directive to their East Coast forecasters not to use the name Athena in any of their forecasts or warnings. Read more here.

New Jersey was hit by Athena on November 7, 2012.

"A day can press down all human things, and a day can raise them up. But the gods embrace men of sense and abhor the evil." - Athena to Odysseus

College Shootings: Greece & Michigan {Updated}

On Friday, April 10, 2009, there have been college shootings in Greece and the United States.

Dimitris Patmanidis had warned of the attack in an Internet posting, featuring 17 photographs of himself holding guns, three hours before the shootings, according to the Greek newspaper Ekathimerini.

A 19-year-old student of a vocational training college opened fire at the school in Rendi, western Athens, Greece, the morning of April 10th, seriously injuring a fellow student and hurting two passers-by before turning the gun on himself.

In an unprecedented incident for Greece that fueled debate about laws governing gun ownership, Dimitris Patmanidis, an ethnic Greek from Georgia, walked into the college, run by the Manpower Organization (OAED), wielding two guns and started shooting. He hit an 18-year-old student in the chest, sending him to the hospital with serious injuries, before leaving the building and firing at two passers-by whom he shot in the legs. According to witnesses, he then sat down on a street bench and shot himself in the head. At around 11.30 a.m., three hours after the attack, he died of his injuries in the hospital.

“It is the first time that this has happened in Greece – we have never seen anything like this before,” Dimitris Souras, a Health Ministry psychiatrist dispatched to support victims, told reporters.

A note found on Patmanidis when he was taken to the hospital accused his fellow students of picking on him and expressed the evident desperation that led him to carry out the shooting. “Until now, I have received nothing but rejection and contempt from those around me,” said the note, written in Greek. “I have no reason to continue living. But unluckily for you, I’m too selfish to leave and let you continue living.”

“For me, you are all mentally retarded garbage... Whoever I see on the morning of April 10 will immediately become a target,” he wrote, adding that he had been “rejected” by someone he had fallen in love with and felt “nothing but rejection and contempt” for all those around him.

Later in the day it emerged that Patmanidis had posted photographs on the Internet of himself menacingly holding various guns, eerily reminiscent of photographs by the perpetrators of shootings in the USA in recent years.

Police confirmed that the man seen on the posting on the MySpace social networking site was the 19-year-old gunman. They also said that the posting, which features 17 photographs, had been uploaded onto the site about three hours before the attack. Officers said that Patmanidis had apparently planned to kill several people because of the number of weapons he was carrying: two guns, two knives and some 80 bullets. Police, who confiscated a computer from Patmanidis’s home yesterday, were trying to determine where he acquired the two pistols used in the attack.

Fellow students described the gunman as a loner who was “generally very well-behaved” but reports emerged later (after the April 10 attack) that the 19-year-old had once tried to strangle a fellow student and had subsequently been placed under the surveillance of a college psychologist.

Also, on Friday, April 10, two students were killed in an apparent murder-suicide at a Dearborn, Michigan community college, police reported to the media.

Police responded to an emergency call of a gunshot on campus, said Dearborn Deputy Police Chief Gregg Brighton. As officers entered the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center, they heard another gunshot, Brighton said. A shotgun was used in the killings, he said.

Then two bodies were discovered in a room at a Henry Ford Community College building. Police found the bodies of Asia McGowan, 20, of Ecorse and Anthony Powell, 28, of Detroit in the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center on the Dearborn campus on Friday afternoon. They had been in a theater class in the morning.

The school, which has about 17,000 commuter students, sent alerts through an e-mail and cell phone system and locked down the campus, said Marjorie Swan, Henry Ford's vice president/controller.

"Nothing like this has ever occurred on campus," Swan said.

She said the school west of Detroit wasn't as busy as usual because the shooting happened on Good Friday.

Christian Plonka, a 12-year-old who attends a theater program in the building, said he heard "one gunshot, and I saw someone getting pulled back into the room they were in."

Plonka and other students in the program ran into a parking lot at the adjacent University of Michigan-Dearborn campus, where they waited until police allowed them to leave, said the AP and other media, including the Detroit Free Press.

Thanks to S.M. for the alert.
