Tunguska 2.0 + Armageddon 2013?

For days, you've been hearing about the asteroid half the size of a football field, known as 2012 DA14, flies by about 17,000 miles above Earth, on February 15, 2013.

Tunguska 2.0

Early on February 15th, in an intriguing "coincidence," a meteor (or will it be found to be a meteorite?) weighing 10 tons and the size of a kitchen table, exploded over communities in the Russian Urals.

Because of the fact that one million people in Russia have dashcams (dashboard cameras), good videos were taken of this breaking news.

+++++

+++++

There are reports that due to the concussion burst from this exploding meteor breaking out windows and collapsing buildings, over 1000 people have been injured in Russia.

Why are some people calling this Tunguska 2.0? It is a reference to the mysterious larger incident that also occurred in Russia, back in 1908.

The Tunguska event was an enormously powerful explosion that occurred near (and later struck) the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in what is now Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, at about 7:14 a.m. KRAT (00:14UT) on June 30 [O.S. June 17], 1908. The explosion, having the epicenter (60.886°N, 101.894°E), is believed to have been caused by the air burst of a large meteoroid or comet fragment at an altitude of 5–10 kilometres (3–6 mi) above the Earth's surface. Read more, here.
In late breaking news shared by The Gralien Report, eyewitnesses in "Cuba now claim a similar explosion has occurred over the province of Cienfuegos, described as a 'very bright light, and of a size 'comparable to that of a bus.'"

Cinematic timing?

Bruce Willis to the rescue? Willis to Russia?

Bruce Willis's latest, A Good Day To Die Hard, has opened, but on Friday, February 15, 2013, most people may be thinking about his role in Armageddon (1998). (What, another Ben Affleck-Argo timing sync too? Argo just went on sale on Blu-Ray and digital.)

As to other movie tie-ins, look at the following early report in which a bottom caption of Skyfall is used, and the reporter mentions War of the Worlds and Armageddon. She later makes mistakes, such as saying these are asteroids, instead of meteorites. But it is apparent that many people are subconsciously and naturally linking the two events. (Her report, btw, is one of the first, in which only 100 injured people were known. She does mention five fragments, a factoid not heard often in USA-UK reports.)

How does this coincidence/synchronicity strike you?

An insightful friend, Philip Levine, a writer, former therapist and astrologer, publicly shared this on Facebook today:
Today we have something even rarer than being impacted by the big (mostly empty) Universe we live in. We are being impacted twice! A meteor explodes above the Earth and injures people and destroys property. And an asteroid is passing 17,000 miles away from us.
In other times and places, these would be a sign, a very big sign, saying something (what depends on which prophet or psychic you listen to). If you think the Universe is intelligent and an embodiment of some kind of Being, then you would want to know what It is saying.
If, like most, you believe the Universe is just a random collection of debris with no meaning other than chaos, then Statistics is your God. And the statistical chance of ONE of these things happening is immensely small, but TWO on the SAME DAY, within hours, in this infinitely vast Universe, is something to give one pause.
If you aren't sticking your head in the sand, how does this coincidence/synchronicity strike you?
First of all, let us hope that others are not or will not be struck, physically, by any of events.

I must say, it all does seem to be incredibly intriguing timing, that is very Fortean, synchromystic, and cosmic. It is as if, sometimes, a cosmic window has opened. Is this one of those times?

I also think these current events are synchrocinematic. These astrothreads are happening at the same time two Bruce Willis movies come to mind, one about the character in Russia and the other about his role being to fly to destroy an asteroid heading to Earth.  We all get to think about what the words coincidence and synchronicity deeply imply.

Chart by Carl Gustav Jung.

One of Jung's favorite quotes on synchronicity was from Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll, in which the White Queen says to Alice: "It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards".

"Chelyabinsk has a claim to history for its importance in WWII - the city's nickname was Tankograd, and it was basically THE biggest manufacturing center for armored vehicles during the war. They were too far east for the Germans to ever bomb," via Eric Nyquist.

During the NASA/JPL live feed, right before the 2:25 pm EST flyby of 2012DA14, a scientist showed the computer animation of the asteroid and how near it was to Earth. He said this was what he called "the Bruce Willis view" - as if you are on the asteroid. I take this to be a confirmation, fulfilling my cultural "prediction" (posted above, earlier in the day) of how significant the cinematic Bruce Willis is in terms of this event.

For more on Chelyabinsk, see here:

In the late 1940's, about 80 kilometers north of the city of Chelyabinsk, an atomic weapons complex called "Mayak" was built. Its existence has only recently been acknowledged by Russian officials. Mayak, bordered to the west by the Ural Mountains, and to the north by Siberia, was the goal of Gary Powers's surveillance flight in May of 1960.

For forty-five years, the Chelyabinsk province of Russia was closed to all foreigners. Only in January of 1992 did President Boris Yeltsin sign a decree changing that. As a result, western scientists who studied the region, declared Chelyabinsk to be the most polluted spot on earth.

Chelyabinsk was one of the former Soviet Union’s main military production centers, which included nuclear weapons manufacturing. Accidents, nuclear waste disposal and day to day operation of the Mayak reactor and radiochemical plant contaminated a vast area of the province. In the early 1950s there were so many occurrences of death and disease from the nuclear waste dumping in the Techa river that 22 villages along the river banks in a 50 kilometers zone downstream from Mayak were evacuated. In 1957, a nuclear waste storage tank accident released radiation double the amount released by the Chernobyl accident. This accident was kept secret and 10,700 people were evacuated. The severe environmental contamination of this region led to dramatic increases in cancer rates, birth defects, and sterility.

"Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action." Russia and Cuba make two.

Five impacts in Russia + One in Cuba = Six.

Not that the scientists are ever wrong, but I do wonder if they might be incorrect about these Russian-Cuban events having nothing to do with the asteroid flyby? Could this be a 2012DA14 fellow traveler in approximately the same orbit as the asteroid?

Also the question I haven't heard any mainstream media reporter ask: Why didn't we know that this relatively large meteor was on its way into rural Russia? No warnings? Not observed? What's up with that?

Re. the alleged asteroid impact in Cuba --currently I can't find any report about it in Spanish-- what struck me as interesting is that the word 'Cienfuegos' literally means "100 fires."

The meteorite exploded in the sky over the city of Rodas, in the Cienfuegos province. It happened at 8pm last Wednesday.

It seems all the news outlets are citing the same sources.

BTW Rodas is the Spanish translation for Rhodes, the (English) name of the Greek island where the famous colossus used to stood.

Re: The Soviet Skyfall-
Historicaly speaking, this meteorite (as well as the approaching "Halloween Comet") are very bad signs.
The ancient Greeks, Chinese, and many other cultures looked upon them with dread, with plague and pestilence appearing soon after.

Evidence suggests that humans have suffered massive die-offs following exposure to bacteria and viruses from space.

Kinda strange that exactly one year to the day, Feb 15, 2012 In Honduras there was a prison fire that claimed 360 lives. According to Wikipedia it is one of the worst structural fires to ever take place.

A full revolution is 360 degrees. Just so odd, so coincidental.

Any connection to these 'signs and wonders' in the sky ss mentioned in the Bible, to the Pope's abdication? This seems pretty synchonistc to me, but no one here as mentioned this aspect to these two very unusual events -- an unmentioned meteor and a known asteroid.

Because the explosion in Russia happened in the morning there, I would say this qualifies as a Red Dawn event...

Upon further research it turns out Feb 15th is a rather historical day in history with multiple groupings of coincidences. All information comes from history orb.com and is almost quote for quote with some of my comments in between.

On Feb 15 1973 the USSR launched a satellite Prognoz 3 to study solar activity. It was one of eventual 10 Prognoz satellites with the last being launched in 1985. According to Wikipedia these satellites went on to be used for different purposes and functions, one of which was to further research the Big Bang Theory. Coincidental 40 years to the day a meteor makes contact with Russia.

With all the recent news concerning the pope, on Feb 15 1145 Bernardo is elected as Pope Eugene III.

Feb 15 1775 Angelo Braschi is chosen as Pope Pius VI. Another coincidence.

As stated prior the prison fire in Honduras killing 360. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

Feb 15 1898 the USS Maine sank in the Havana Harbor, 258 sailors die. The cause of the vessel sinking remain unknown. Another major accident killing hundreds by way of an unknown cause, another coincidence.

Feb 15 1978 mass murder Ted Bundy is recaptured in Pensacola Florida.

Feb 15 1992 Jeffrey Dahmer is found guilty of murdering 15 young men. Two of the more well known mass murders in American history making headlines about going to prison.

Feb 15 1962 The United States performs a nuclear test in Las Vegas.

Feb 15 2000 Indian Point II a New York State Nuclear power plant vents a small amount of radioactive steam.

I like the "remember the Maine" sync. It was a call to war, as I recall. Some say that the asteroid threat from space will be the next escalation of the ongoing "war".

Adding to the list I commented before, via Wikipedia I found quite a few more odd things that happened on Feb 15.

1909 – The Flores Theater fire in Acapulco, Mexico kills 250.

1933 – In Miami, Florida, Giuseppe Zangara attempts to assassinate President-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt, but instead shoots Chicago mayor Anton J. Cermak, who dies of his wounds on March 6, 1933.

1961 – Sabena Flight 548 crashes in Belgium, killing 73, including the entire United States figure skating team, several coaches and family members.

1970 – A Dominican DC-9 crashes into the sea during takeoff from Santo Domingo, killing 102

1982 – The drilling rig Ocean Ranger sinks during a storm off the coast of Newfoundland, killing 84 workers.

1996 – At the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in China, a Long March 3 rocket, carrying an Intelsat 708, crashes into a rural village after liftoff, killing many people

In my book February is one STRANGE day.

Funny how no one has mentioned this métier or small asteroid made contact on the same day as Galileo's birthday.

He would has been 449.

If that isn't coincidental then I don't know what is.

Jake Kotze made a good conection here -

"Owen Wilson plays Oscar in Armageddon. He thinks he is Han Solo aka Harrison Ford aka Blade Runner."

"Pistorius' nickname is Blade Runner & Armageddon is about Meteors & Asteroids, all making news this week."

Not to mention that the 24th Feb will be Oscar night.
