Cryptokubrology: Frame 237s

There is a view by which it can be shown, or more or less demonstrated, that there never has been a coincidence. That is, in anything like a final sense. By a coincidence is meant a false appearance, or suggestion, or relations among circumstances. But anybody who accepts that there is an underlying oneness of all things, accepts that there are no utter absences or relations among circumstances --
Or that there are no coincidences...

~ Charles Fort, Wild Talents, 1932.

The title to Rodney Ascher's 2012 documentary Room 237 refers to a room in the haunted hotel featured in The Shining, which a character is warned to never enter. But, of course, it means much more than that.
The [Torrance] family* arrives at the [Overlook] hotel on closing day and is given a tour. The chef, Dick Hallorann [played by Scatman Crothers], surprises Danny [Torrance, played by Danny Lloyd] by telepathically offering him ice cream. Dick explains to Danny that he and his grandmother shared this telepathic ability, which he calls "shining." Danny asks if there is anything to be afraid of in the hotel, particularly room 237. Hallorann tells Danny that the hotel has a "shine" to it along with many memories, not all of which are good. He also tells Danny to stay away from room 237.
[*Jack Torrance is played by Jack Nicholson; Wendy Torrance is played by Shelley Duvall.] ~ Wikipedia
Can the "237" phenomenon "shine" beyond Stanley Kubrick's film?

I decided to test this by experimentally taking the random selection of "Frame 237s" from a Alfred Hitchcock film database to see what such an exercise would demonstrate.

As the author of the site "1000 Frames of Hitchcock" notes, it is "an attempt to reduce each of the 52 available major Alfred Hitchcock films down to just 1000 frames. The aim of the project is to create a library of images which can be used to illustrate blog posts, web articles and reviews," and so forth.

So, to be clear, for this random analysis, the 1000 frames are not picked by Alfred Hitchcock nor me, but merely by film researchers who selected them and numbered them using their own criteria as a means to summarize each Hitchcock film. I then found a few examples of the frames numbered "237." I used the "Frame 237s" that popped to the top of my Google image search, without any discrimination against one film over another.

Obviously, Hitchcock was a great filmmaker and his motion pictures have a certain style, but it was rather intriguing that these "237s" tend to be rather reflective. Is it a theme of what these "237s" reveal?

Reflecting on paintings...

Reflecting on where the characters are headed...

Reflecting what someone else is thinking, saying, or indicating...

Having the viewer reflecting on the scene, from a distance...

In one dramatic instance, making the reflection overt, via a mirror...

What do you think? What's your thoughts while reflecting on these frames?

Cryptokubrology: "A useful methodology for deconstructing cinema, history, and synchronicity." ~ says Alex Fulton, January 31, 2017.

Cryptokubrology has been defined as "digging through the works of Stanley Kubrick on the premise that its body is a muted mass of coded cabalistic ministrations comparable (in scope) to the works of William Shakespeare, but incomparable (in complexity) to anything in recorded history. In fact, Cryptokubrology has led to an entirely different view of so-called 'history' itself." Source.

Batman Dies

William West Anderson, born September 19, 1928, in Walla Walla, Washington State, better known as Adam West, died Friday, June 9, 2017. He passed away after a short battle with leukemia.

In 1959, West moved with his wife and two children to Hollywood, where he took the stage name Adam West. In his autobiography Back to the Batcave, he explains he chose "Adam" simply because he liked the way it looked and sounded with "West," his middle name. His close friends and family still call him "Bill."

West's acting career began in films in 1959, and he achieved his signature fame via the ABC series Batman (debut, 1966) and its theatrical feature film. He did voice work on The Fairly OddParents, The Simpsons and Family Guy (where he voiced fictional versions of himself in all of those animated series) and also Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders.

West starred in an episode of the ABC Outer Limits series titled "The Invisible Enemy."

Producer William Dozier cast West as Bruce Wayne and his alter ego, Batman, in the television series Batman, in part after seeing West perform as the James Bond-like spy Captain Q in a NestlĂ© Quik commercial.

Skull and Bones:

Batman was an intriguing series with a variety of synch-conspiracy angles, such as the one relating to Bruce Wayne's great-grandfather being a founder of Skull and Bones.

Bond & The Gemstone File:

In 1970, West was offered the role of James Bond by Cubby Broccoli for the film Diamonds Are Forever. West did not accept, later stating in his autobiography that he believed the role should always be played by a British actor.

As I asked in 2012: "What is the most synchromystic, conspiracy-laden James Bond film?"

The answer is an obvious one. It happens to be the cinematic expression that revealed Ian Fleming's leaking of the Gemstone Files, in one of the 23 Bond films that have been made through 2012: Diamonds Are Forever (1971). Read more here.

Mothman:

The 1966 Batman TV show inspired a local West Virginia newspaper copy editor, early in the 1966 sighting series of a large winged monster in Point Pleasant, to dub the creature "Mothman."

London Bridge Attack

A white van mowed down pedestrians as it sped down London Bridge in the British capital on June 3, 2017, Saturday night, leaving bodies lying in the roadway, knocking people into the air, and forcing people to jump off the Bridge.

London attack latest, as of Sunday AM, June 4, 2017:

- Seven dead, 48 injured and taken to hospitals
- Incident declared as terrorism
- Three suspects shot dead
- Total dead is ten

"It looked to me that the van was aiming at the people," a witness tells CNN.

A witness reported the attackers screamed "This is for Allah."

Concurrently or shortly after the London Bridge incident on June 3, 2017, Saturday, three men entered a restaurant at Borough Market, just south of the Bridge, and stabbed four people inside. The patrons sheltered in the basement.

Both incidents have been declared terrorist incidents.

&&&&&&

On this night, June 3, 2017, the planet Jupiter is very apparent in the sky, only a few degrees from the Moon.

Sky & Telescope details what is happening with Jupiter tonight in these words:

Saturday, June 3
• Jupiter is the bright "star" with the Moon, as seen at right. They're only a couple degrees apart as viewed at dusk from North America. But Jupiter this evening is 1,860 times farther away.
• Lower left of them is Spica. Much closer to them in the opposite direction is fainter Gamma (Îł) Virginis, a close double star for telescopes (separation 2.6 arcseconds this year).
• And, a double shadow-transit occurs on Jupiter tonight. From 10:22 p.m. to 12:22 a.m. EDT, both Io and larger Ganymede are casting their tiny black shadows onto Jupiter's face.
• And then, Jupiter's Great Red Spot transits the planet's central meridian around 12:55 a.m. EDT (9:55 p.m. PDT). Quite a telescopic night for this little group of objects.
Another Jupiter directly clashed with London Bridge. On June 13, 1984, as the HMS Jupiter was leaving the Pool of London after a visit to the capital, she collided with London Bridge causing significant damage to both ship and bridge. The ship's Captain, Commander Colin Hamilton, was later court martialed at Portsmouth on December 4, 1984.

London Bridge is usually rather calm. On February 28, 1992, a bomb exploded at London Bridge station injuring 29 people.

On June 3, 1982, the Israeli Ambassador to the Court of St. James's, Shlomo Argov, was shot outside the Dorchester Hotel by three gunmen from the Abu Nidal group. The ambassador survived a three-month coma, but was paralysed and required constant medical attention until his death in 2003 as a result of the wounds. See other "Terrorist Incidents in London" here.

The first bridge near this site was built in about AD 50, probably by the Romans. This version of the London Bridge was begun in 1971, and first opened on March 17 (Saint Patrick's Day), 1973, a little over 44 years ago.

The lyrics to a children's song, perhaps as old as the Late Middle Ages (circa A.D. 1301–1500), has made the London Bridge famous around the World.

London Bridge is falling down,
Falling down, falling down.
London Bridge is falling down,
My fair lady.

Joan Jett and the Jesus Christ Pose

As I mentioned earlier (see here), Soundgarden's Chris Cornell (July 20, 1964 – May 18, 2017) explained the term "Jesus Christ Pose" and his song of the same name, thusly:
You just see it a lot with really beautiful people, or famous people, exploiting that symbol as to imply that they're either a deity or persecuted somehow by their public. So it's pretty much a song that is nonreligious but expressing being irritated by seeing that. It's not that I would ever be offended by what someone would do with that symbol.
In looking into the deaths of prominent figures in the Grunge community, I came across the story of Mia Zapata (August 25, 1965 – July 7, 1993), who was the singer of the Seattle indie band The Gits, formed in Yellow Springs, Ohio in 1986.

After Mia Zapata's move to the West Coast, she became very successful and a surprise spokesperson for women's music in Seattle.

But the flame burned out quickly. In Seattle on July 7, 1993, Zapata was tragically raped and murdered.

How the body was left seemed highly symbolic.

A woman discovered Zapata's body in the street near the Comet Tavern, at around 3:30 a.m., near the intersection of 24th Avenue South and South Washington Street in Seattle's Central District.

Zapata’s body was found with her arms out and her legs crossed, and she was placed between two Roman Catholic buildings on either side of the street. Zapata’s body was found, as Unsolved Mysteries noted, "lying face up in an almost Christ-like pose."

"A Christ-like pose"?

In the aftermath of Zapata's murder, friends created a self-defense group, Home Alive, which organized benefit concerts and released albums with the participation of many of Seattle's music elite, including Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Heart, and the Presidents of the United States of America. Joan Jett also recorded an album with the surviving members of the Gits called Evil Stig ("Gits Live" backwards).

Joan Jett and Kathleen Hanna (pioneer of the feminist punk riot grrrl movement) wrote a song called "Go Home" that was later released on Jett's 1994 album, Pure and Simple.

Jett also recorded a single, "Bob," whose earnings were contributed to the investigation of Zapata's murder. To this end, the band Gits and Jett appeared on the television show America's Most Wanted, appealing to the public for information. The case was solved in 2004, when Zapata's murderer, Jesus Mezquia, was brought to trial and convicted. (Yes, his name is Jesus.)

Intriguingly, on July 13, 2008, Joan Jett guest-starred in Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The episode was named "Reunion," and Jett played a fading rock musician named "Sylvia Rhodes."

"Rhodes" ends up dead on her apartment floor.

Lost on the 2008 audience, of course, was that the pose Jett took on the television drama appeared to mirror how Zapata was found in 1993.

Looking closer at the promotional photograph from the episode, the positioning also duplicates a side view of the Thoth Tarot card of The Hanged Man.

The Thoth Tarot is a divinatory tarot deck painted by Lady Frieda Harris according to instructions from Aleister Crowley. Crowley referred to this deck as The Book of Thoth. Lady Harris was invited to meet Crowley on June 9, 1937, and on May 11, 1938, Lady Harris became Crowley's disciple and also became a member of Ordo Temple Orientis.

And, I must observe, Chris Cornell went from the Jesus Chris Pose to The Hanged Man.

Nooses

Behaviors of racists are being spread by the copycat effect.

On the last day of May 2017, the Los Angeles home of Cleveland Cavaliers  basketball star forward LeBron James was found with racist graffiti on his front gate.

James held a news conference on June 1, 2017, and stated:
No matter how much money you have, no matter how famous you are, no matter how many people admire you, being black in America is tough. We got a long way to go for us as a society and for us as African Americans until we feel equal in America.
Additionally, according to the Chicago Tribune and other media outlets, nooses have been appearing recently around the nation's capital — including at the Smithsonian's new African-American history museum — in "a rash of incidents that experts say shows the growing use of hate symbols in the U.S. to try to intimidate minorities."

"We've seen a spike in the use of symbols of hate lately, and the noose is one more example," said Denison University professor Jack Shuler, who has studied lynching and noose imagery in the U.S.

Thusfar,

(1) two nooses were found at Smithsonian museums in the past week, specifically,
(1a) one outside the Hirshhorn Museum on May 26,
(1b) one inside the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture on May 31.
Furthermore,

(2) bananas tied to nooses were discovered at American University in Washington D. C. during May 2017,

(3) a noose was found at the nearby University of Maryland, and

(4) a noose was found outside a suburban middle school in Crofton, Maryland. A teacher spotted the noose hanging from a light fixture on the exterior of the building about 11 a.m. May 11, 2017, at the school, 2301 Davidsonville Road in Crofton. A school custodian immediately took the object down and police were called.

Two white men (Charles Prout, 19, of Crofton, and John Adam Havermann, 19, of Pasadena) were arrested on May 12, 2017, and charged with hate crimes for allegedly hanging the noose at the Crofton school. No arrests have been made in the other cases.

As the Chicago Tribune stated:

Loops of rope have long been used to intimidate African-Americans because they evoke lynchings. The nonprofit Equal Justice Initiative said there were 4,075 lynchings of blacks in the South to spread racial terror between 1877 and 1950.
For blacks, the noose is "comparable in the emotions that it evokes to that of the swastika for Jews," the Anti-Defamation League said.

"I've seen in the last couple of months more instances of nooses being used to intimidate people," said Shuler, author of The Thirteenth Turn: A History of the Noose. ''I think we're in a situation right now where people who express hateful opinions are being allowed to speak freely and it's become OK again."
Beirich blames the rhetoric from Trump's presidential campaign, during which he pledged to build a wall on the Mexican border and ban Muslim immigrants. Trump also claimed for a long time that President Barack Obama was not born in the United States.
"Putting those sentiments in public from a presidential campaign has sanctioned a lot of people," Beirich said. "Things they might have kept inside themselves, that they have kept quiet about, have burst out."
The noose didn't stop some visitors to the black history museum.
Stephen Middleton, who brought his extended family to the museum Thursday from Georgia and Maryland, said he wasn't surprised someone targeted the museum. But "we're not going to be deterred, we're not going to be wavered and not going to be intimidated," he said.
As noted here, in Portland, Oregon, two white people were stabbed to death on May 26, 2017, after they tried to stop a white man from shouting anti-Muslim slurs at two young women. One of the women was wearing a Muslim head covering, and both were black.

Another noose has been in the news elsewhere too, for on May 17, 2017, Chris Cornell was found dead in the bathroom of his room at the MGM Grand in Detroit, Michigan, after performing at a show with Soundgarden at the Fox Theatre. The cause of death was determined to be suicide by hanging.

Manila Attack

At least 36 people died in the Philippines when Resorts World Manila, an upscale hotel and casino complex, was attacked in the early hours of June 2, 2017, Friday morning, local time. AP reports that a Philippine operative of ISIS claimed responsibility, but police say the attack was not linked to terrorism.

The suspect was described as Causacian and foreign. He attempted self-immolation and then died by  gunshot.

ISIS claimed the suspect was one of its soldiers. Police said it was a robbery. Body count is mounting. All deaths, except of the suspect, were tied to smoke inhalation.

The statement from the management of the Resorts World read:

Zodiac Killer & Portland Stabbings

On May 26, 2017, in Portland, Oregon, two people were killed and one was injured after a stabbing on a local MAX train. On Saturday afternoon, police identified the two men killed as Ricky John Best, age 53, who died at the scene; and Taliesin Myrddin Namkai Meche, 23, who died at the hospital. A third man, 21-year-old Micah David-Cole Fletcher, is injured but expected to survive.

Heroes: Rick Best, 53, and Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche, 23.

Severely injured was Micah David-Cole Fletcher, 21, of Southeast Portland, Oregon.

The Friday afternoon disturbance began when a man on a light-rail train "began yelling various remarks that would best be characterized as hate speech toward a variety of ethnicities and religions." Among the subjects of his diatribe were two young women who appeared to be Muslim; one was wearing a hijab.

Portland police have charged Jeremy Joseph Christian with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder, according to the Portland Police.

"In the midst of his ranting and raving, some people approached him and appeared to try to intervene with his behavior and some of the people that he was yelling at," Sgt. Pete Simpson told The Oregonian. "They were attacked viciously."

The suspect stabbed (in the throat area) the three men before fleeing the train; police located him and took him into custody.

Police identified the suspect as 35-year-old Jeremy Joseph Christian of North Portland, Oregon. He has been booked on two counts each of aggravated murder and intimidation in the second degree, and one count each of attempted murder and being a felon in possession of a restricted weapon.

The suspect was found to have past associations with a free-flowing set of political ideas and causes based more in his own mental health issues than in any foundation beliefs.

As media accounts detailed, Christian had been a prominent and vocal participant in recent “alt-right” rallies in Portland, Oregon. At a “free speech rally” in Montavilla City Park on April 29, 2017, he was captured on video wrapped in an American flag, giving Nazi salutes. Earlier that day, police reportedly confiscated a baseball bat from him. Local reporters captured him yelling racial slurs and threatening to shoot “anyone who tries to disarm me.”

Cat Davila, who was among counter-protesters at the free speech rally, said Christian “showed up part way through the event and came striding straight toward the counter-demonstrator crowd very purposefully waving a baseball bat by his side and staring us down.”

As he drew closer, Davila said, police “blocked him and took his bat and from then on he just yelled a lot.”

Christian wore, during past demonstrations, a teeshirt showing the drawing of the Zodiac Killer.

The Zodiac Killer was a serial killer who operated in northern California in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The killer's identity remains unknown. The Zodiac murdered victims in Benicia, Vallejo, Lake Berryessa, and San Francisco between December 1968 and October 1969. Four men and three women between the ages of 16 and 29 were targeted. The killer originated the name "Zodiac" in a series of taunting letters sent to the local Bay Area press. These letters included four cryptograms (or ciphers). Of the four cryptograms sent, only one has been definitively solved.

A drawing of the Zodiac Killer suspect has become infamous in popular culture. On September 27, 1969, Pacific Union College students Bryan Hartnell and Cecelia Shepard were picnicking at Lake Berryessa on a small island connected by a sand spit to Twin Oak Ridge. A man approached them wearing a black executioner's-type hood with clip-on sunglasses over the eye-holes and a bib-like device on his chest that had a white 3"x3" cross-circle symbol on it. He approached them with a gun, which Hartnell believed to be a .45.

This is the drawing on the teeshirt worn by Christian.
